Plot Summary

A missed highway exit and here is Darry Marzouki, unemployed conjurer, crossing the road with Irène Montier Duval, a beautiful bourgeois, the Hermès bag full of banknotes. Out of love, she served as an intermediary in an arms sale between a French minister and Korea and the case got publicized. The minister wants him to wear the hat. On the run, she offers to pay Darry to drive her to Geneva in his beautiful BMW. The problem is that the BMW isn't his; on a whim he stole it from his irritable brother-in-law, who threatened to gut him if he doesn't return it. Unable to accept Irène's proposal, Darry invents the identity of an alter-globalist going to Locarno for a summit. Irene, who dreams of a change of scenery, gets caught up in the game. They have little in common. They will spend three unforgettable days together. On their heels: Koreans, the DST, a minister, and the brother-in-law. At the end of the road: love for one, freedom for the other.
