- A couple is clothed and kissing in bed, then the man moves on top of the woman and appears to be thrusting lightly. The scene ends not long after.
- A woman asks a parent if they are concerned with having a "a young man, a black young man" at home with her teen daughter.
- A woman slaps the football coach on his rear end.
- Girls and cheerleaders wear revealing clothes. A man wears a shirt that reveals his chest in one scene.
- Sandra Bullock wears low cut tops revealing significant cleavage, short skirts, and tight pants throughout most of the movie. High school boys are seen oogling her as she walks away in a short, tight skirt.
- A few mild sexual references.
- Aside from a few kissing scenes, the sexual content is overall pretty mild.
Violence & Gore

- The very beginning shows Joe Thiseman's horrific football accident which forced him out of retirement; no graphic footage is shown, but it has been said that he got a compound fracture from this.
- Michael fights with his old friends by punching them and throwing them around. He tips sofas and chairs over and throws two of the thugs into a rail, which breaks.
- A teen boy and a little boy get into a car accident. The little boy has some blood on him, and the teen's arm is bloody, but everything turns out okay afterwards.
- Normal football violence, with tackling and pushing.

- "PO" (short for "pissed off") is used.
- 5 uses of "ass" (towards men), 5 of "bitch" (4 from antagonists, 1 from protagonist), and 2 of "tits", "panties in a wad", the "N"-word (antagonist), and "son of a bitch". Also 4 instances of "hell", 3 of "damn", 2 of "God", and 1 of "crap", and 1 of "penis". 1 of "Sh*t"

- Michael talks about his mother doing drugs, but not letting him watch.
- When Michael visits his old friends, there is drinking and references to drugs.
- Michael's mother is said to be a drug addict, as there is a reference to a "crack pipe".
Frightening & Intense Scenes

- Michael shows anger in one scene when he visits his old neighborhood friends. He gets into a fist fight with a guy who provokes him, and mothers are shown clutching their babies and crying. It is pretty unsettling.
- There is a car crash involving a teen and a young boy, but they are not seriously injured, despite being somewhat bloodied.
- The footage from Joe Thiseman's accident could be hard for some to watch, especially for those who somehow were able to see this event live.
