Not many surprises as the "Witch of Neptune" epic winds up
jamesrupert201416 December 2021
In part 3 of this three-part adventure Zydereen, the "Mad Witch of Neptune" uses the knowledge she stole from Zarkov's and Richard's brains to construct the "solar ray", the deadliest weapon in the galaxy and then uses the frightful beam to steal the galaxy's supply of "kyrillium", the atomic fuel needed to maintain civilisation on all of the inhabited planets. Using the precious fuel as leverage, the flamboyant evildoer pronounces herself 'Queen of the Galaxy" and demands that Flash and Dale appear before her. The third part of the "Witch of Neptune" triptych is a bit anticlimactic, with a lot of rehashing followed by a rushed and predictable conclusion but for a low-budget teleplay from mid-fifties, it's entertaining enough to squander 22 minutes on. Steve Holland makes for a lean and energetic Flash, Irene Champlin is a refreshingly capable Dale and Marie Powers is hammy-fun as the typical gloating megalomaniac supervillain.
