In the pre-sketch monologue, Red tells several Halloween-themed jokes and does a Gertrude and Heathcliffe gag. The main sketch is a big burlesque of the old Shubert Vienna musicals. Jane Powell (IV) sings 'My Favorite Things' and 'An Occasional Man.' The musical segment features Jane Powell joining the Alan Copeland Singers, the Tom Hansen Dancers, and the Modernaires with Paula Kelly in production numbers. In the Silent Spot, Red mimes an old man who wanders into a French sidewalk café occupied by three pairs of young lovers, beautiful women, and an impeccable waiter (Jules Munshin). The old man has trouble deciphering the menu (written in French, of course)and can get no help from the waiter or the adjoining lovers, who are busy with their own pursuits. An old woman (Marjorie Bennett) also wanders into the café and Red is soon romancing her but she eventually winds up with the waiter.
