A surprisingly strong episode for 1965 dealing with abortion. That term is never used but it's clear from the off that is the matter in hand, dealt with subtly and sympathetically. All three leads are heavily involved, and Barbara Lott especially impresses as a mother struggling with a large family and Honora Burke is eerily powerful as Belle, whose illicit terminations threaten the health and lives of the women of Tannochbrae. Fortunately, there are light moments too between Dr Cameron and Janet.
