This episode marks the first time Kelly doesn't try to fix Uncle Bentley up. Instead, she backs off as her Uncle manages to take care of things on his own. This also marks the first time she has seen Uncle Bentley appear to be serious about a women, which has her a bit scared. As always, something happens to destroy his relationships, in this case something that relives Kelly. Although used often as a plot device (Kelly fixing up Bentley or trying to get him married)in seasons 1, 2 & 3 by season 4 its dropped and by season 5 not used at all.
Episode 30, season 4 marks the first and only time Bentley's two major buddies, Cal and Chuck, appear at the same time and in the same episode. . Both play their usual role as Gregg's friend. This is also Chuck's last appearance on the series as Cal takes over the role as Gregg's close 'bud'. Chuck had been with the series since Season 1, logging several guest shots along the way. Cal doubled as Ginger's father, a strict but at times hapless out of touch well-to-do parent of a teen aged girl. Their relationship is often used to let us compare and contrast the same between Bentley and Kelly.
