• Daisuke Jigen : [answering the phone]  Huh?

  Joe Spade : Jigen! I'm being chased! Help me! This is Joe!

  Daisuke Jigen : Joe? What's the matter? Where are you?

  Joe Spade : I'm in Maria's restaurant.

  [Joe's two pursuers kick the door open. Joe draws but, with his rusty revolver, he isn't able to fire. He backs away in terror] 

  Daisuke Jigen : [over the phone]  Joe, answer me! What's the matter with you, Joe?

  Male voice : [over the phone]  Go to hell, you idiot!

  [From over the phone comes the sound of gunfire] 

  Daisuke Jigen : JOE!

  [Jigen's panicked cries wake Lupin, who sleepily shuffles out of his room, clutching a pillow. Standing in the doorway like this, he looks innocent] 

  Arsène Lupin III : Jigen, what's going on?

  Daisuke Jigen : Wouldn't you now it? My mentor's going to get killed.

  Arsène Lupin III : [barely awake]  Huh...?

  Daisuke Jigen : He's a man named Joe of Spade... Lupin, will you go to Marseilles with me?

  [Lupin responds with a loud yawn] 

  Arsène Lupin III : It's the middle of the night...

  [Jigen carries Lupin over his shoulder into the Mercedes and drives into the night with him]
