Eddie and Johnny B Badd steal the show!
callanvass2 March 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Live from Jacksonville, FL

Your hosts are Eric Bischoff, Steve McMichael & Bobby Heenan

We get a vignette of Hulk Hogan in a cemetery, armed with a sword, wearing a hood with a black mask. He says The Dungeon of Doom is afraid of Hulkamania and how Randy Savage is gonna bring him Meng's head on a silver platter. He also doesn't know if Sting is friend or foe since he's still friends with Luger.

Meng (W/Kevin Sullivan & Jimmy Hart) Vs Randy Savage

Savage wins with the flying elbow drop. Savage gets assaulted by Lex Luger after the match. Luger rams Savage's arm against the post, trying to break it in the process. This was pretty bad, even for how short it was. Every once in a while, Meng/Haku had a decent match, but those were few and far between.

Kensuki Sasaki Vs Chris Beniot

Beniot hits three consecutive German suplexes, then nails him with a nasty dragon suplex with a bridge to get the pin. This was too short for me to really get into. The ending was pretty cool, though.

Johnny B Badd (C) Vs Eddie Guerrero

The match ends in a draw when the time limit expires. After some tension, both do the babyface embrace after the match. It was a bit sloppy at first, but once they got cooking comfortable with each other, they pretty much killed it. There were a lot of high-flying maneuvers from both and great wrestling in general. Good stuff, guys!

It's Hulk Hogan vs Sting next week on Nitro!

Gene Okerlund is with The Dungeon of Doom in the ring. (The Giant, Kevin Sullivan & Jimmy Hart) Sullivan admits that there was collusion with him and Jimmy Hart. He says the belt should be handed over to The Giant, because he's the odds on favorite. The Giant says he's the next WCW Champion.

Sting vs Dean Malenko

Sting wins by reversing a Texas Cloverleaf into a small package. This was pretty good for the time it was given. Malenko was booked strong in this match and didn't lose any credibility in defeat.

**1/2

Sting says he has nothing against Hogan and no agenda towards him. He says he's not gonna back down from Hulk and he's looking forward to it.

Final Thoughts.

This is a solid episode of Nitro. It was subtle in its storytelling, but it had memorable match. Eddie Guerrero vs Johnny B Badd is excellent stuff and both stole the show. The Dungeon of Doom is still crappy, but the mystery of where Sting's allegiance lies is very interesting. Overall, more good than bad.

The show opens with Hulk Hogan cutting a promo on the Dungeon of Doom in a graveyard set. The first match is Meng versus Randy Savage. Chris Benoit faces Kensuke Sasaki. Johnny B. Badd defends the TV Title against Eddie Guerrero. Gene Okerlund interviews the Giant, Kevin Sullivan and Jimmy Hart. Sting takes on Dean Malenko in the main event. Gene Okerlund interviews Sting after the match. Pretty good show.
