Everything about Gardening Australia is great but it is hazardous and disgusting to see presenters talk to the camera which then focuses on their gardening work and dirt encrusted hands and fingernails. It is particularly sad to see women with harsh grubby hands. Germs and other hazards in soil is well documented and I think Gardening Australia should focus on this area whilst endeavouring to inform the public about plant matters.

Great Australian gardening show

Warning: Spoilers
Gardening Australia is a excellent gardening show hosted by Tasmanian gardener Peter Cundall and with a group of well informed and always full of interesting practical information co-hosts for various segments. The show's excellent camera-work and well made segments make for good viewing. It is paramount in it's genre and would rank above most gardening shows i have seen. It truly captures the many parts of the great jigsaw puzzle of Australian gardens and also has informative segments on general plant information such as weeds in our bushland which grow 'over the fence'. Ten out of ten for an entertaining and informative guide to good gardening practices. Pete's public vegetable garden, if anything to go by, sums up the shows success quite well.

The program of Friday 8 Feb was fantastic, loved the gardens particularly the Olinda garden. Really enjoy seeing other Australian gardens with all their diversity. Also last week the way to pot up cycads was fascinating and I will give this a try. As a woman I do love to get my hands dirty in the soil, but must be careful here in Darwin with all the diseases around now. Keep up the great work. Looking forward to seeing Costa before beard. I have been with my husband for 35 years and not seen him face naked haha.

In the Winter of its time

I grew up watching this. Peter Cundall and the team had a way of inspiring you to get your hands dirty. Short segments from around Australia giving handy advice. It was a shame when Peter retired, but he left the show in good hands with Stephen Ryan.

Unfortunately, management had different ideas for the show and Stephen got the flick. Now we have a laborious hour of confected inspiration delivered by some questionable hipsters. There are still a few good presenters and handy seasonal tips, even from some of the hipsters, but plenty of cringes too. My advice for any long term fan (who hasn't stopped watching already) is to watch it on catch up, then you can fast forward the bs.

Ten stars to Pete and Stephen, thanks for sowing the seeds.
