Father Ted star Dermot Morgan's former colleagues have spoken of the "terrific stress" the actor was under prior to his 1998 death.
Morgan won over audiences with his portrayal of the disaster-prone but well-meaning Father Ted Crilly in Graham Linehan's critically-acclaimed comedy.
However, the actor died suddenly aged 45 in February 1998, shortly after completing the third and final series of the show.
Morgan's co-stars Frank Kelly, Ardal O'Hanlon and Pauline McLynn told documentary Dermot Morgan - Fearless Funnyman of the high levels of stress the actor put himself under in the run-up to his untimely death.
According to Kelly, who played drunken Father Jack Hackett in the sitcom, Morgan "barely passed the medical tests" to film the third series and was "under terrific stress".
"He was never quite satisfied with what he was doing," Kelly said, according to The Mirror.
"The next thing was going to be infinitely better.

Exclusive: NBC is taking a second stab at developing a comedy series based on Life As I Blow It, the book by Chelsea Lately and After Lately writer-panelist Sarah Colonna. Denise Moss (Hackett) has been brought in to write/executive produce the project, originally developed last year with Colonna writing and Danielle Sanchez supervising. Colonna will now co-write the story with Moss, who will write the script. Happy Madison and Sony TV are back producing. Life As I Blow It will focus on the relationship of Colonna and her sister, who are brought together when Colonna loses her job and has to return to Arkansas where her sister’s life is also unraveling. Adding fuel to the fire is the sisters’ differing point of view on life and how Colonna’s nephew should be raised. While Colonna has no deal to star, the project is being developed as a potential starring vehicle for her.

Tony winner Christian Hoff has come aboard Fox's comedy pilot Hackett. Meanwhile, Annie Potts, Brendan Sexton, Sean O'Bryan and Jennifer Aspen have joined TNT's one-hour pilot Family Man, starring William H. Macy.
Both pilots hail from Sony Pictures TV.
Hackett, directed by Barry Sonnenfeld, centers on a bad-boy literary luminary (Donal Logue) who escapes his disgraced career teaching at Yale only to find himself among the ultra-PC ranks of teachers at an Ohio public high school.
Hoff will play the school's vice principal, a frustrated wannabe writer and Hackett's nemesis. The actor, who won a Tony this year for his work on Jersey Boys, is repped by Stone Manners Agency and managers Cirrincione & Associates.
Family Man, a co-production with Craig Zadan and Neil Meron's Storyline Entertainment, is a light drama starring Macy as unlikely criminal John Parker: a respected father and pillar of his community by day and the leader of a bickering gang of burglars by night.
Potts will play his wife.

NBC will have a Barry Sonnenfeld-directed drama pilot after all.
After losing out on the Sonnenfeld-directed medieval fantasy "Kingdom" to CBS last month, NBC has lured the director to helm a legal thriller penned by Luke Reiter.
Sonnenfeld was approached by NBC shortly after the pitch for "Kingdom", to be written by Chad Hodge and directed by Sonnenfeld, landed at CBS with a rich put pilot commitment July 17. Sonnenfeld read Reiter's script and committed to the project, which is produced by Universal Media Studios. With Sonnenfeld on board, NBC picked up the drama to pilot.
Set at a prestigious New York civil firm, the untitled drama revolves around unapologetic lawyers who will do whatever it takes to win their high-profile cases and outmaneuver one another.
For Sonnenfeld, who is exec producing the pilot with Reiter, the project is in second position to "Kingdom".
Sonnenfeld is Red Hot off directing one of the most buzzworthy pilots for upcoming series, ABC's "Pushing Daisies".
Sonnenfeld, who has a first-look deal at Sony Pictures TV, the studio behind "Kingdom", also is attached to direct SPT's single-camera comedy pilot "Hackett" for Fox.

After a heated bidding, CBS landed The Kingdom -- a period drama set in middle age Europe to be directed and executive produced by Barry Sonnenfeld -- with a premium put pilot commitment.
The Sony Pictures TV project, written by Runaway creator Chad Hodge, is a medieval Entourage, revolving around four guys, one of whom becomes a prince and heir to the throne.
Sonnenfeld is coming off directing the pilot for ABC's promising new drama series Pushing Daisies. He is also attached to direct Sony TV's single-camera comedy pilot for Fox Hackett.

Sarah Timberman's 25C Prods. has inked a new two-year deal with Sony Pictures Television.
Carl Beverly, who has been Timberman's creative partner at 25C since its launch in 2003, has now been made a full partner at the company.
Timberman said she and Beverly love working with SPT programming and production co-presidents Jamie Erlicht and Zack Van Amburg and their team.
"They couldn't be more supportive, open and collaborative partners, and we value their judgment, passion and perspective immensely," she said. "As for Carl being a full partner in 25C with me -- while it's an important business distinction, it's truly negligible in terms of his role in the company; he's been as good as a full partner since 25C's inception. I'm thrilled that we're continuing on in this venture together."
Timberman and Beverly are busy working on Hackett, the 25C Prods./SPT comedy pilot for Fox that is slated to film in the summer with Barry Sonnenfeld at the helm.
