A Two-Edged 'Blade'
ccthemovieman-122 October 2007
Some hotshot magician, "Luke Blade," performs a sawing-in-half trick in front of a street crowd and, coincidentally, the same thing is happening in an empty theater elsewhere in town. Unfortunately, in the latter the woman is literally sawed in two and, of course, killed.

Things really get bizarre when the magician, who has planned three great stunts in three nights, has the same thing happen on the second night. His trick works just fine but nearby the same trick is done in secret and we have another murder victim. What the heck is going on?

Mac and the crew quickly deduce this Houdini-loving magician is the killer. The only question is: how did he do it? What's his motive and more importantly, how can we find evidence to convict him?

The answer, and the dramatic final scene are okay, but nothing special. The key was discovering what was in the childhood of this demented David Copperfield-wannabe.

Note:I have commented on some of the major changes in the show this year; some good, some bad. Here's another. Since when did all of these CSI people become wise-guy comedians? Now even straight-faced Gary Sinise is dishing out several of these puns and smart remarks. Stella gives several each show and Danny, Don and the others do likewise. Hollywood can never do anything subtle anymore. Now we have a CSI team of comedians in addition to forensic experts and get a joke every 2-3 minutes. My point: the jokes are clever - too clever for nerdy scientists, and way overdone. It's making all the characters look really smug.

A Very interesting CSI
hpsoccergirl21 March 2007
Warning: Spoilers
I saw this episode a day later on Innertube on CBS.com. I had a huge argument with my parents to hopefully let me watch it on a school night and I really wish I won the battle. The episode would of been worth it.

Criss Angel guest stars with an interesting crime. Two people that have betrayed his trust on his 'family' are found killed with a day in between each other, and it is a copy cat of the magic tricks that he is preforming the days the murders are committed. The beginning was a little queasy to watch, especially since I was eating cereal for my breakfast. The whole crime and alibi was interesting and how he committed the murders was kind of hard to understand. I especially liked the bickering between Flack and Hawks. It brought something new to the show and I throughly enjoyed that short scene. I also liked that Mac began preforming magic tricks and he said it was for 'science.' I wonder if he would of given Danny his office if he did go up in flames? Finally! The mystery of Lindsey's past is over, thank god. It was getting a little long. I understand why they had to extend it, with Anna Belknap's pregnancy, it would of been hard to unveil her past before the baby was born. The maternity leave provided a reason why she suddenly left for Montana and her three or four episode absence. Almost everyone knew that Danny would go after her, and I liked the line he said in his apartment before he left, "Follow you're gut/instinct" or something like that. It showed that Danny really cared for her and he wanted to go after her for such a long time. What didn't make any sense to me was that he was tired, went to his apartment, and then left not being in his apartment for more that 2 seconds. Oh, well, he could of slept on the plane. It's not an exactly short plane ride to Montana.

Criss Angel did a wonderful job as the guest star. He preformed his part well, and made it completely believable. I wonder what will happen in the following episodes. Next week, a rerun, then hopefully we can see how the CSI Family shows to the sudden get together of Danny and Lindsey.

P.S. They almost kissed! *squeel!!!!* I'm such a fan girl.

Warning: Spoilers
Criss Angel depiction of an insane, delusional criminal mastermind, is scary good. The last scene where it all comes together is just perfect, with his motive and attitude. Absolutely best performance I've seen in a while.
