The knockout rounds are coming to an end on The Voice, but that doesn’t mean the bickering between the coaches is slowing down one bit!
On Monday’s show, Brandon Royal, a Team Gwen hopeful, belted out Bob Marley’s “Redemption Song,” and while he wasn’t selected to move on to the live shows, his song choice led to a hilarious moment between the coaches when Blake Shelton admitted to not being familiar with the iconic ballad.

“Wait, you don’t know ‘Redemption Song?’” Alicia Keys asked Shelton incredulously during a behind-the-scenes moment. “You have to know… everyone knows ‘Redemption Song!’”
“I know ‘One Love,’” Shelton admitted.
The confession cracked up Shelton’s girlfriend and fellow coach, Gwen Stefani, but Keys was taking her musical mentorship very seriously.

At Saturday's Global Citizen Festival, which was created with the intention of ending extreme poverty by 2030, the quintessential '90s band and the quintessential modern pop-star shared the stage, and it was pretty sweet. After playing a few notes from the classic Pearl Jam track "Alive," a very sweaty Eddie Vedder introduced an immaculate-looking Beyoncé. They performed a cover of "Redemption Song" together. The alt-rock frontman's gravel-throated baritone and Queen Bey's sanguine voice worked surprisingly well together. You can watch the song below:...

[Youtube "7qCdFjOUxoI"] She did her family - and her native land - proud. Kingston, Jamaica, native Anita Antoinette stepped up to honor her island-nation homeland Monday on The Voice, delivering a theatrical and spirited performance of Bob Marley's "Redemption Song" as her mother - who brought the family to the U.S. for a better life - looked on in wonder. "You gotta be proud," Adam Levine told her amid cheers afterward, noting Antoinette's obvious talent and the importance of sharing Marley's message of freedom to the world. "Tonight, you get to be that ambassador to Jamaica," Levine said. Antoinette's coach,...

In life, as on The Voice, the accomplishment-to-praise threshhold is not always a balanced one.
Your three-year-old makes a wee-wee on the potty, and you treat him like he’s earned the Nobel Prize in toilet-training. You make it to the gym on a Monday morning (after failing to go even once the week prior), and you’re suddenly Rocky atop the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. It doesn’t matter that you had to crawl the last 10 feet to ascend the peak, you’re the heavyweight champ of your own feel-good movie.

Reggae music has never stopped evolving but for millions of people from around the world it’s still defined by the songs of Bob Marley and the Wailers -- Is This Love, No Woman No Cry, Three Little Birds, Buffalo Soldier, Get Up, Stand Up, One Love, I Shot The Sheriff, Waiting In Vain, Redemption Song. The world's most iconic reggae band The Wailers are currently touring the Us, performing the prominent album Legend in its entirety. As they infiltrated reggae music to the world outside of Jamaica, its birth place, The Wailers celebrate their 30th anniversary of the album Legend. "We wanted to do something special for you in honor of the great Nelson Mandela, who I feel so moved by in every way," said Keys. The pride and joy of Team Adam told HollywoodLife.com she’ll never stop growing, which is why we think she could win it all!
In a matter of hours, Tessanne Chin will find out whether or not she’ll make it through to the final four contestants of The Voice‘s fifth season, and something tells us the Jamaican songstress has nothing to worry about. HollywoodLife.com caught up with Tessanne before the taping of the Dec. 3 elimination episode, and she reaffirmed why we’re putting so much faith in her.
“I think you never stop growing,” she explained. “It’s not about what note you hit, it’s more about depth. It’s about what you can show and what you can do, and that’s why I liked doing ‘Redemption Song.’ I had a chance to strip it down, and I love that opportunity; that is the...

Twelve performances is a lot for six people. It seemed tough on all of them, even the judges. Everyone had one song that was pretty wack; Xtina was drunk for the first time all year; Adam had petty jealousies that he set to the music of his life. Cole Vosbury, "Rich Girl" Cole did a fabulous job with this. He is like a machine that cannot fail. I might prefer the clear-eyed sincerity of the original Daryl performance, but Cole managed to sound both disinterested and amused in his rendition — no easy feat! Side note, they do not bleep out bitch anymore on prime-time television. I am sort of offended by that and I don’t know why.Tessanne Chin, "Redemption Song"This was just the weirdest. Tessanne originally wanted to sing “Redemption Song” in a perfectly normal way but then Adam was like, “No, you have to belt it...

The Top 6 contestants on The Voice performed two songs each last night – one chosen by their coaches and one chosen by themselves. Powerhouse Jacquie Lee of Team Christina Aguilera stole the show with her emotional performances.
The Voice Recap: Cole Vosbury Performances
Cole Vosbury, the last remaining contestant on Blake Shelton’s team, performed Hall & Oates’ “Rich Girl,” as chosen by his coach. Cee Lo Green, Vosbury’s former coach, told the singer he was still rooting for him, while Adam Levine praised his arrangement. Vosbury chose to sing James Morrison’s “A Better Man” and dedicated it to his first love. The emotional performance balanced out his fun performance from earlier.
Tessanne Chin Performances
Tessanne Chin, one of three contestants on Levine’s team, started with Bob Marley’s “Redemption Song.” While Chin was nervous because Marley is an important figure in her country, she slayed the song, as usual.

When it comes to warm fuzzies, good vibrations and positive feedback, The Voice has a coaching panel that’s second to none.
Nevertheless, if you listen verrrrry carefully, you can hear their withering subtext, their coded messages to the viewing public in favor of one contestant or in opposition to another.
Take Blake Shelton’s repeated mentions tonight that it’s not just about hitting big notes full-on (a subtle put-down of Jacquie Lee?) or Adam Levine essentially telling Matthew Schuler he peaked with his Top 12 week cover of “Hallelujah.”

Most reality singing competitions are structured in a way that, by the time the audition rounds are reaching completion, they’ve been relegated to background noise while you fold two weeks’ worth of clean laundry. Or they leave you longing for a grizzly bear to bust through your front door and consume you whole, just so you don’t have to listen to ‘em anymore.
But The Voice — with its jaunty judges’ camaraderie, its international good vibrations (even when singers get rejected), and the fascinating ebb and flow of Christina Aguilera’s cleavage — provides the polar opposite experience. As the...

Things got a little rough and tumble on Monday night’s installment of The Voice. Blake Shelton asked a sassy singer to punch him in the face, Christina Aguilera lamented the lack of “spank” in a contestant’s delivery, and Cee Lo Green tried to incite the female members of the audience to riot.

Things we learned on The Voice tonight (that we never knew we didn’t know): Blake Shelton might not be opposed to occasionally rocking pink undergarments. A song called “The Cupid Shuffle” is all the rage at weddings and bar mitzvahs. You can be among YouTube’s Top 100 most-subscribed musicians and still need the help of a reality singing competition to hit it big. And there are only three bars in Anchorage, Ak.
Okay, so that last tidbit might not actually be true. (Blake’s sense of humor is drier than a county without alcohol, making those jokes of his often seem borderline convincing.

On a night meant to take the wind out of Simon Cowell’s sails, The Voice delivered exactly what NBC had hoped for which was high ratings and a loyal fan base. On Twitter, the judges and the network’s account could be seen counting down to start of the episode, even offering up Tweets to pump up their audience such as, “I’m watching The Voice because ____.” Not exactly subtle, but effective, none the less.

Jason Collett -- best known as a member of Broken Social Scene -- has a new album coming out in the fall, and in anticipation of that release, he's unveiled a brand-new video for the song "I Wanna Rob a Bank."

Rihanna has signed up to a grilling from Oprah Winfrey on Oprah's Next Chapter, following in the footsteps of fellow paparrazi fodder Kim Kardashian, who recently opened up on Oprah's couch, and under the chatshow queen's unrelenting gaze.
The talk show host announced the interview on her Twitter page on Monday, and the show is reportedly set to air in August.
Rihanna last appeared on Oprah's show in January 2010, when she performed Bob Marley's classic Redemption Song to benefit the victims of the devastating earthquake in Haiti.

If Bob Marley had only written "Three Little Birds" and "Redemption Song", in my book, he'd still be a worthy subject of a two-and-half hour documentary. I'm no reggae connoisseur, owning no Bob Marley albums, (I do own "The Harder They Come" soundtrack. and have worn that out...) but it's a testament to his legacy that even a Midwestern American white novice like myself could be, at times, profoundly affected by his work. Filmmaker Kevin Macdonald (The Eagle, State Of Play, The Last King Of Scotland), circling back around to his documentary roots, unpacks the man, the myth, and the music in a justifiably decompressed piece....

The reggae legend took his unique sound from Jamaica around the world, inspiring millions with his message of togetherness, rebellion and love. And while his face has become an image almost as ubiquitous as that of Che Guevara, a whole new generation of music fans may not be familiar with his work and achievements, but the upcoming, years in the making, Kevin Macdonald directed documentary "Marley" will hopefully change that.
As the film gears up to hit theaters next month, Island Records will drop a 2xCD, 3xLP soundtrack featuring 25 songs from Bob Marley. The tunes, which will be presented as they appear in the film, run from his pre-Wailers day, through to his biggest hits, and for the first time on record,...

This just in from The X Factor: Sponsored by Verizon Wireless: Stevie Wonder is calling Chris Rene! Hollywood is calling Rachel Crow! And wait, Steve Jones’ internal motherboard is transmitting some vaguely worded text message about an “error in communication” regarding this week’s Pepsi viewers’ choice performances. (Next week, by the bye, Steve will be replaced by an AOL Instant Messenger box and a series of cutting-edge emoticons.)
What’s that? You’re not buying Steve’s explanation for the last-minute theme switch? You think Simon Cowell simply wanted to whip up some dramatic backstage footage and test...

Rihanna has covered a Bob Marley track as part of her set at this year's V Festival. The singer performed a rendition of Marley's 1980 hit 'Redemption Song' during her slot on the headline stage. The star appeared from behind a silver flag in leather hot pants and opened with her chart-topping hit 'Only Girl (in the World)', before telling the crowd, "Put your f**king hands up!", for 'Shut Up and Drive' and 'Man Down'. Her 70-minute set also included 'S&M', her Nicki Minaj collaboration 'Raining Men' performed on a pink tank, and a mash-up of her guest features on Jay-z's 'Run This Town' and Kanye West's 'All of the Lights'. After singing an extended version of 'Unfaithful', her debut hit 'Pon De Reply' was played during a brief (more)...

"The Last King of Scotland" Kevin Macdonald is taking on reggae legend Bob Marley in a new documentary "Marley." What makes this latest effort to explain the magic of the man behind "Redemption Song" and "Buffalo Soldier," is that the Marley family is participating. "What made Bob tick is probably unanswerable but viewers will certainly feel that they know him a little better after seeing our documentary. I am grateful to the Marley family for entrusting me with their heritage," Macdonald said in a statement. Macdonald has focused on fiction films such...

Bob Marley fans may be wondering whether the rumor we posted earlier this week about "Legend" coming to "Rock Band" as Dlc would turn out to be true. Well, good news, as we just received the official confirmation from the "Rock Band" folks that all thirteen tracks from the classic record are coming to the "Rock Band" music store on September 21.
In addition to the confirmation, we also received a statement from Bob Marley's world-renowned son, Ziggy Marley: "My father was interested in bringing reggae music to the entire world, and now that his music is coming to 'Rock Band,' as the first reggae artist in the game, we are excited to open the doors to reggae music to a whole new group of young people."
The full track list, which will be available for download on September 21 (Us) and September 22 (Europe) on Wii, 360 and PS3, is...

Chris was so emotional about making his big comeback that he couldn’t stop crying onstage!
Chris Brown is back! The singer brought a surprising amount of emotion to his Michael Jackson tribute performance at the Bet Awards Sunday night when he broke down sobbing onstage – and as it turns out, his tears were real.
After hearing that “Cary Grant” would be performing to celebrate the one-year anniversary of Mj’s death, the crowd was shocked to see Chris take the stage at La’s Shrine Auditorium June 27. After dancing to hits like “Billie Jean” and “Smooth Criminal”, things turned serious when he performed “Man in the Mirror.” The 21-year-old couldn’t stop crying, choking out the words and stumbling as he seemed to beg his fans’ forgiveness for assaulting ex-girlfriend Rihanna more than a year ago. He also seemed to be crying for himself,...

London — At precisely 10:30 p.m. here in London — two and a half hours before the start of Friday night's (January 22) "Hope for Haiti Now" telethon — Rihanna was finally in the same room as Jay-z, Bono and The Edge, her three collaborators on "Stranded (Haiti Mon Amour)," the song they had recorded just three days earlier in studios all around the world.
The four, backed by Jay's cracking live band and a full gospel choir, were about to perform the song together for the first time, in front of a studio of television producers and, really, the entire world. But not a single one of them was nervous. Rather, they saw it as a tremendous opportunity — not just to help the victims of last week's devastating earthquake,...

The entire episode of "The Oprah Winfrey Show" on January 21 was dedicated for Haitian earthquake. Rihanna, who is set to sing at the upcoming "Hope for Haiti" concert in London, delivered her rendition of Bob Marley's "Redemption Song" during the primetime talk show.
On what makes her dedicate "Redemption Song" for the victims, the Barbadian songstress told Oprah Winfrey, "Growing up, anytime there was a really difficult situation, I always listened to this song 'cause it was so liberating, and even now I listen to it when my back is up against the wall." She added, "I feel like the people of Haiti need to hear something inspiring."
"Often in a tragedy like this, it's the children who suffer the most," she further stated. "They have no way to get food, they're helpless. The children are the future. I want everybody to do what they can right now. But...

Rihanna has come to "The Oprah Winfrey Show" on Wednesday, January 20 in support of Haiti. Taking the talk show's floor, the 21-year-old belted out "Redemption Song", the Bob Marley's song she especially re-recorded to raise funds for the earthquake victims in the Caribbean country.
In the beginning of her performance, the "Russian Roulette" singer delivered the tune accompanied by the sound of an acoustic guitar and an organ. As she poured her heart out through the song while host Oprah Winfrey and fellow guest Wyclef Jean watched from the sidelines, photos from the devastation in the island took over on a backdrop behind her.
The former girlfriend of Chris Brown later on revealed why she chose to cover the classic tune. "This song for me, growing up, anytime there was a difficult situation, I always listened to this song because it was so liberating," she exlained. "Even now I...

"The Haitian people told me specifically when I was coming on your show to tell people, 'Stop with the photo ops,'" he said. "Haiti don't need no more photo ops."
"We need logistics, we need people to go to the airport, who can get stuff out of the airport and to the people."
After Friday's cross-network Hope for Haiti telethon, he will return to Haiti to try to remedy the ineffective methods of food distribution.
He also told Oprah that he wanted the U.S. military to set up tent camps for the displaced people outside Port-au-Prince, then turn them into housing later.
