This is a short film that can be seen on a DVD of award-winning shorts from around the world from the Film Movement Series. For several years now, Film Movement has been bringing out a yearly compilation of shorts in place of their usual monthly feature film release. This is from the January, 2008 collection.
This is one weird little film. It's also one of the simplest I've seen in some time, as the entire film consists of a rather odd man demonstrating a series of seemingly random pantomimes as the narrator tells what each move is supposed to represent. Then, after doing this somewhat boring demonstration, a disco ball appears and the man begins dancing--using all the moves he's demonstrated. Not exactly deep stuff, but because the guy contorts himself so strangely and the dance is highly reminiscent of the one done by Napoleon Dynamite, I found myself watching in amazement. Had this film been much longer than five minutes, I think I would have been very bored. But, considering how interesting this silly and mundane film was, it says a lot about the talents of those who made it.
WARNING--A couple of the dance moves are pretty obscene. Don't let your children watch this!!
