Starring Vijay Raaz, Sanjay Mishra Madhuri Bhatia, Amol Parasher, Barkha Singh, Ashwini Kalsekar, Flora Saini
Directed by Ram Ramesh Sharma
“Chutiyon se bhara padaa hai yeh ghar,” Vijay Raaz observes midway through this mishmash of the worse and the worst. That Subhash Ghai should come to this is a tragedy of Shakespearean proportions.
Not that anyone in this , hands-down Ghai’s worst production to date, has ever heard of Shakespeare. The characters are a bunch of buffoons and clowns , titivated with no redeeming qualities except that they can keep a straight face even when confronted with one of the dumbest most witless screenplays that actors have ever been given to read ever seen the motion picture was invented.
If Lumiere were to see what his dream has come to , he would slash his wrist.

Exclusive: New Line has brought on newcomer Minnie Schedeen to pen its feature adaptation of The Demon of Brownsville Road, the 2014 novel by Bob Cranmer and Erica Manfred. It chronicles the harrowing true story of one family’s battle against the evil that possessed their home and tormented their lives.
The Demon of Brownsville Road has been the subject of a number of docuseries, and at one point Fox was developing an adaptation of Cranmer’s book as a potential drama series before New Line landed the rights.
This project marks Schedeen’s first studio assignment. The graduate of USC’s School of Cinematic Arts, who has been supported by New York Stage & Film and the Sundance Institute, is preparing to direct her first feature, Farmhouse, based on the short of the same name, which was developed with the Sundance Feature Film Department and Creative Producing Summit. She is repped by Grandview and UTA.

Unsolved Mysteries: Condon Recreates the Last Days of Sherlock Holmes
Director Bill Condon reunites with elements from several of his most critically acclaimed titles for his latest work, Mr. Holmes, those being actors Ian McKellan and Laura Linney, performers both bestowed with Academy Award nominations for their work with Condon. A late staged episode in the life of one of literature’s most famed detectives, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes, the film is adapted from Mitch Cullin’s novel, A Slight Trick of the Mind. More so an exploration of reconciliation than an actual mystery thriller, the title bears striking resemblance to Condon’s most notable work, 1998’s Gods & Monsters, in which McKellan played Frankenstein director James Whale towards the end of his existence, cared for by an elderly maid. This core dynamic plays out in similar fashion, though to less dramatic and detrimental effect. Melancholy and gently morose,...

Agreements set to produce seven family features worth $78m.
Shanghai Hippo Animation Design Company is to partner with two Western Australian companies on seven animated children’s and family films in the next three years worth $78m.
The estimate comes from Hippo founder and chief executive Kerr Xu and the two Australian companies are Vue Group and Zac Films.
“We might go bigger though,” Xu told ScreenDaily from Perth. “80% of the money will come from my company and 20% from my Australian partners.”
There are plans to create a fund for further feature film joint ventures between China and Australia – a fund that other producers will be able to tap into with the right scripts.
When established later this year it will have $10m available but the target is $50m.
“For an Australian producer to be given a guarantee of a certain level of release in a market such as China is phenomenal,” said Xu, adding...

We had some movie stills thrown our way for Joe Hendrick's upcoming thriller Ditch last month (check them out here), now a teaser trailer has been released.
Ditch stars Bill Oberst Jr. (Children of Sorrow, Abraham Lincoln vs. Zombies), Katy Foley (Mr. and Mrs. Kill), Zach Silverman (Water for Elephants), and Lynn Lowrey (Cat People, They Came from Within).
From the Press Release:
Writer Daniel P. Coughlin’s sinister thriller Ditch continues to impress. Coughlin has created a horrifying feature from his script that incorporates an axeman, a ditch party and a score that needs to be settled. Coughlin is best known for his previous horror features, including After Dark’s Lake Dead (2007) and Farmhouse (2008) starring Steven Weber. Ditch will continue this writer’s terrifying film run, with a group of high schoolers targeted for revenge.
And Ditch now has a thrilling teaser trailer.

It's not a lot better than the previous teaser artwork that we had for George Bessudo (Farmhouse, Lake Dead) and Intandem Films' Glimmer, but this latest bit of sales art for the flick does have a rather creepy vibe... plus confirmation that it will be in 3D.
Laura Ramsey (The Ruins), Shawn Roberts (X-Men, Resident Evil, Edge of Darkness), and Amy Smart (The Butterfly Effect, Crank, Mirrors) star.
Look for more on this one soon!
Synopsis
When 16-year-old Annie Tuttle takes a walk at her lakefront home, she spots a young girl standing on the ice-covered lake. As Lucy falls through the ice, Annie hurries to rescue her and sees a figure at the center of the lake; the figure seems to shimmer and disappear before her eyes.
Nine years later Annie is happily married to Jack Cole. Annie gets a letter which reads: “It’s going to kill you.

If you frequent the world wide web you've probably noticed The Hills Run Red reviews running rampant across countless sites. While it's a pretty kick ass flick I think it's important to remember it's not the only kick ass flick to hit shelves this week. Rather, this past Tuesday was a very significant day for the genre, as a whole load of quality flicks were unleashed on the public. So I took it upon myself to shed light on a few you may have missed.
First off, we'll take a look at the George Bessudo directed mind bender Farmhouse (see Scott Licina's lengthy review here), which totes a bit of a Dante's Inferno vibe. The story sees a young troubled couple (Scarlet, played by Jamie Anne Allman and Chad played by William Lee Scott) crash their car in the middle of a hardly inhabited countryside. The two are fortunate to find a farmhouse nearby,...

What could ever be more horrific than the loss of one’s child? That question lies at the very heart of Farmhouse, a clever, twisting and intense entry in the ever-expansive genre of horror. The film is actually branded as a psychological thriller, and while it does work well in that context, at its core it’s a horror movie through and through.
The plot revolves around a young couple, Scarlet and Chad, who attempt to leave their old life behind after losing their infant son. Through a series of non-linear flashbacks we discover that this isn’t the only reason for their (initially) unexplainable sudden departure, and that there is a much more at work here than just two grieving parents running away from heartache.
After abandoning their home and belongings they head north, bound for Seattle, but a nasty car accident in the California wine country makes short work of their escape.

Park City ’07 Interview | Adam Bhala Lough: “I had a dream one night. I woke up and wrote it down. T
[Editors Note: indieWIRE is publishing two interviews daily with Sundance ’07 competition filmmakers through the end of the festival later this month. Directors with films screening in the four competition section were given the opportunity to participate in an email interview, and each was sent the same set of questions.]
Filmmaker Adam Bhala Lough brings his latest work to the Sundance Film Festival this year, entitled “Weapons.” The film follows a group of teenagers who become involved in a series of seemingly random killings over the course of a weekend. “A haunted hip-hop soundtrack drenches this insightful study of teenage character and value systems in a world where everyone seems to have a gun,” writes Sundance, “but the most dangerous weapon is the one unleashed by tender things broken inside innocent hearts.” Adam Bhala Lough other recent work includes Bomb the System, Farmhouse, and music videos for Mf Doom and Joe Strummer.
Please introduce yourself. What are some of your former jobs? Where did you grow up, and where do you live now?
