Stevie Shines
melissamarshall-3813313 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Stevie has always been an important character, and this season she really got to shine. It's great that the show has never forgotten her romantic history with David and yet allows Stevie to be genuinely happy for David & Patrick's engagment but also feel sad about being left behind as others find happiness. Emily Hampshire playing Stevie as Sally Bowels is a highpoint of the entire series. Noah Reid does an amazing job as Patrick playing the Emcee as well.

It's also beautiful to see how much we've grown to care about Moira, who has become an odd but effective surrogate mother to Stevie this season. In Season 1, we laughed when Moira crawled into a closet. This season, it's still funny but we feel for her. The crows movie meant so much to her, and Catherine O'Hara makes you feel her pain.

Dan Levy's writing just gets better and better. I'll be sorry to see this show go, but I know it will go out on a high note.

Thank goodness there's going to be a sixth season.

Thank goodness there's going to be a sixth season, the last episode in season 5 ends with happiness, tears, pure joy and disappointment for some of the characters that it's hard to say goodbye. I look forward to the final season as this has been some of the best TV I've seen in a long time. Would make a fabulous movie too.

Moira <3

Warning: Spoilers
Seeing Moira's awestruck look towards another character is so genuine it leads me to believe it's really Catherine feeling that emotion rather than the character. First time I saw this was her reaction to Patrick singing to David. Low and behold I learned that Catherine O'Hara couldn't stop crying during that scene which makes me believe the tears she had for Emily playing Stevie playing Sally in this episode were genuinely real. These eyes were certainly not dry as well. Great season finale!!

Emily Hampshire as Sally Bowles Is Terriffic
c-keenan200119 May 2021
I don't know what else I can say about Emily's performance as Sally Bowles? She gives a knockout performance of Maybe This Time shyly at first but then you see her confidence growing and growing until she really belts out "maybe this time I'll win!"!

I can see Emily going places at this point.

Can't Keep His Mouth Shut

David is literally levitating as he goes to see Stevie at the motel desk. He was supposed to keep the engagement a secret until after the performance of Cabaret. But he can't do it and pretty soon everyone in town knows about it. It becomes almost passe. Meanwhile, Stevie disappears for a while and they think she has cold feet, but she finally shows up. After Moira talks to her about how special she is, she does a knockout Sally Bowles song, emotional and trenchant. Her character is one of my favorites because she is the realist, the consistent face among all the eccentricities.

A shocker Warning: Spoilers
This episode will go down as one of the all time great moments in TV history. From David's surprise announcement, to Moira's touchingly sincere, insightful words to Stevie, to the actual Cabaret numbers--thrills beginning to end. Watching Ted, Johnny, and David in the audience, the pure delight on their faces suggests this was the first time they'd seen the complete numbers from Cabaret.

Warning: Spoilers
It's hard to say what hasn't already been said here, except that somehow, on top of everything else happening in this episode, Moira still manages to upstage everyone.

WOW!

Warning: Spoilers
A beautiful well rounded episode. And to see The characters Twyla, Alexis, Patrick and Stevie perform two numbers from Cabaret was amazing and lovely to see versatility in their characters. The show was definitely stolen by Emily Hampshire and a beautiful heartfelt rendition of 'Maybe This Time' had me in floods of tears and re-watching that number again and again. Noah Reid as the Patrick, as Emcee is just beautifully gorgeous!

This is definitely one of my favourite episodes and I've watched the full series several times and each time I notice more brilliant things about the show.

Well Done to Dan Levy.

Why Ted, WHY???
yin-yang-223-34196723 August 2022
Amazing episode, as others have said. Solid acting and true emotional scenes make this one of the best.

But seriously Ted. Why for the love of all things Schitty can he NOT hold a playbill like a normal human??? It was ridiculous.
