Cleverly made

Great show. Very different to the standard British sitcom even though it is made in the same format it is just done differently. Very enjoyable from start to finish. Hope they make a new series.

Story lines around jewishness. Everything is a bit forced. Pleasant mild , harmless humour but never quit hits the mark.

The characters are all too similar.

The conflict that is supposed to create comedy are banal and don't really engage ones interest.

The main character is endearing but has a unconvincing , contrived , long suffering persona.

The concept of the show has promise but it doesn't quite deliver.

It's hard to fulfill the quotia requirements for the review of a show that is so easily forgotten whilst watching it. A little harsh perhaps. I have only seen 4 episodes and really there was ....

Funny and bold.

This is a great show, funny and jaw dropping in its non PC-ness at times, the windmills it tilts at deserve to be lanced. Essentially, everyone is selfish, greedy, stupid, kind, loving, big hearted and, well, human.

Wonderful Comedy: Lou Grant meets Larry David

Edgy, provocative, very funny adult comedy steeped in the best traditions of Jewish, British and Finchley humour. Great gags. Great characters. Lovely insights into London Jewish life and foibles. As the director of a Jewish comedy doc ("Circumcise Me") and 30-year veteran of Jewish journalism (founding editor of the Jewish News and the now-defunct New Moon magazine) so much of this rings true. A real treat.

Really imaginative and bold

I didn't know what to expect and was laughing from the off. If you like the comedy of pain, if you've ever been thwarted, if you're a striver... then this will make you howl.

A Brilliant New British Comedy
thepresbytery-335252 March 2020
A fresh and exciting comedy, Tim Downie at his comedic best as a hapless investigative journalist, in angst with his sister, Naomi (Lucy Montgomery). Downie, leaps from one calamitous story to another, leaving a trail of funny 'disasters' behind, which he then has to try and put right, which doesn't always go according to plan! Daniel Sinyor is a little gem he plays Paul's (Downie's) young nephew, (Joshie) who seems to be involved somehow in Paul's misadventures

Curb meets Friday Night Dinner

Another brilliant addition to British Jewish Comedy. Irreverent, uncomfortable, awkward and hilarious. Sharp writing, brilliant performances, can't wait for a second season.

Really enjoyed this one! In today's political environment it's great to watch a hilarious TV series that does not strive to be status quo. A great watch!

Fast & Funny

Really enjoyed watching this series, I binged on it, and it went by all too fast! Hopefully a 2nd series coming soon. Great performance from Tim Downie and very well written. I have recommended it to several friends already, I see a lot of people likening it to Friday Night Dinner, and Curb Your Enthusiasm, and its true it is in a similar vein, but those shows are very funny and this one is NOT a poor imitation - just as good, if not better. (better than FriNghtDin in my opinion)... and its included in Prime so that's a bonus! Well done Amazon... Enjoy!

Gem of a show

Glad I found this as it's funny, fast-paced, edgy and refreshingly non-P. C. in places. Great actors, some of whom I suspect were cast at a Toast of London reunion, but this is a good thing! Sincerely hope there's more series to come!

Fantastic

This is how comedy should be. Simple, engaging, well-written, very funny and played out by a fantastic cast.

Modern comedy can often by very gimmicky, deliberately gross or childish and I'm glad to say that Hapless is none of these and is more akin to to classics such as Fawlty Towers and I'm Alan Partridge. Everyday situations with everyday flawed characters living their lives.

If you like the aforementioned programmes or Larry David's Curb Your Enthusiasm, you will absolutely love Hapless in the same way. I'm sure I'll be watching this over and over for years to come! Bravo and bring on series/season 3!
