Peter Moffat is a British writer and seems to be having fun with some of the names in this show. Leigh Delamere is the name of a motorway service station on the M4 between Bristol and Swindon. Hotblack Desiato is the name of an unseen character in "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy". Although the character himself is a rock star, Douglas Adams actually got the name from a firm of solicitors whose office was near where he lived at the time.
The Classic Carbonara dish was known as a Roman-style hunter's dish because of its simplicity. The word Carbonara is derived from Italian carbonari (charcoal workers) who prepared the dish on their shovels over a fire. The name also refers to the ground black pepper in the dish that resembles flecks of coal (carbone means charcoal in Italian). What distinguishes carbonara from other pasta dishes is its technique of combining eggs, hard cheese, cured pork, and black pepper into a rich, silky sauce. "Dirty Carbonara" or Modern Carbonara replaces eggs with cream.
The show had been shooting for six months when filming was suspended in March 2021 because of the Covid-19 pandemic. It resumed in October of that year.
With 0.449 million viewers, this was the least watched episode in Season 1.
