Honestly, I am not going into how he has no punchlines or how unfunny this is. I am just literally going to tell you not to bother with this embarrassing comedy special. One of the worst things I've ever seen

Schaub does not have the brains, the wit, or the experience necessary to be funny for a full set, but you'd think even an amateur might bumble into a laugh line or two.

Not Brendan. This is stunningly bad. Schaub's dudebro approach to "comedy" mostly involves yelling into the mic to let you know How Hugely Crazy And Funny This Story I'm Telling You Is!!!!

Like, whoa! I mean, unbelievable!

He's like an annoying guy at the bar who's had too much drink and now believes he's charming and charismatic.

It really is that bad. I asked for terrible standup special in a Facebook group and this one came up the most. I can't watch anything else recommended there because this was too draining. I wanted to see what bad standup looked like, and I got it.

So many blatant humble brags, so many desperate shoutouts to famous people he knows, and near endless weird flexes. The jokes are lacklustre all the way through, the opening is bafflingly bad, Schaub looks uncomfortable and nervous for much of the special, and overall, I couldn't wait for it to end. The crowd is barely laughing at many jokes by the end of it too.

Just avoid. Avoid at all costs. So bad it's good doesn't seem to apply to standup, unless you just want to punish yourself.

Shoulda spent more time polishing his craft and less time buying 1500 dollar sweatpants and snazzy clothes.

Special has about 2-4 laughs in it.

It has been reviewed negatively on this site and I got an email from some weed company he owns part of, offering 50% off its products in return for good reviews.

I wasn't going to review it until I saw this underhanded behaviour, everyone should know.

If you're researching to see if this special is worth watching, then don't bother, it's no good and even the terrible score is inflated.

This was unwatchable. At first I wondered why Rogan and Callen wouldn't just teach him how to put on a good show, but then I realized this cant be taught and based of the choices he made I don't think he has the ability to become good. I realize comedians early in their careers can struggle for laughs but even open mic comics can chose better content than this while executing the timing better. This was just lame.

Why does he have a special and why are people being asked to pay money for it?

Rough. I just saw they're bribing people to rate this 5 stars with 59% discounts on his sponsors stores so don't trust any 5 star reviews. that made me actually sign up to give a real review: all his talk about how good he is at comedy and being a comedy road dog this was a huge let down. Weak premises, basic race jokes and go no where stories. Do not waste your time. It actually made it hard to listen to him on his podcast after this. Don't ruin TFATK by watching this.

Schaub has no excuse to ever be doing a comedy special. The only reason he has one is because of Joe Rogan, who isn't even that funny himself but has a huge following. Out of all the guys in this comedy circle, Theo Von is the only funny one. Brendan's special is the flattest, most unfunny show I think I have ever seen outside of the Saved by the bell's, Dustin Diamond set. Good Lord this is a train wreck. Can't believe anyone would ever go pay to see this junk. Doesn't even deserve 1 star.

I hate to say this, but I have no idea what Schaub was thinking. Don't get me wrong, there are one or two good jokes (Mind you I said ONE or TWO), and after that it feels so pushed. He starts off with a joke about a man who he assumed was Black because of his name but turns out he's Asian. Not the best joke, I see where he was going with it but where's the punchline? He tells stories without the joke, and you sit there wondering why you're even watching this. Understandably, it's his first special, but it seems like he never made it out of open mic night. Production quality is great, but in what they invested in is not. Unfortunately Schaub falls extremely short of having a "good" stand-up special, but if you want to have a good cringe? By all means, this is for you.

I am surprised. Surprised how this can be called a comedy special. There's nothing special going on here and nothing funny. At best, this guy is an uncharismatic storyteller. That's being kind. I suppose the only thing going for him is confidence. He must have gassed the audience up because this got zero chuckles from me.

In Dwight Schrute voice: " How dare you all attack him like this? Brenda is your superior! You should be bowing down to him!"

My son, I mean Brendan H. Schaub (the H. Stands for Jesus H. Christ), is the voice of our generation. His observational cawlmedy is probably some of the best since Seinfeld did it, and Bapa, lemme tell ya B., Seinfeld is a b-b-b-beast of a comedian, he's to ever do it, absolutely legend, love him, never meddum.

I can't wait until my baby boy is selling out warehouses and temporary FEMA shelters in hurricane-battered areas. He's international too! Just wait until he trugg walks some dimey-dimes to sold out unicef tents in Ukraine. Then you'll see.

The first half was a bit hit and miss but the second half was great.

This was the sloppiest stand up I've ever seen on a special. This is what happens when your friends and connections get you a special WAY before you are ready. Maybe the end is better, I wouldn't know, I turned it off.

Really tried giving him a chance. He's simply not a comedian. Very cringing to watch.

That was the only thing about "You'd Be Surprised" that was even mildly amusing. Hands down the worst comedy hour in history.

This guy is the worst comedian I have ever seen and it was like listening to a dumb guy telling you a crazy story of lies and putting punchlines in there.

Holy crap this was bad... I mean I didn't even crack a smile. There is no way Schaub should have been pushed into doing a special of this size. I think the only people in the audience laughing were family members and the laugh tracks the producers threw out in the speakers. It's so bad even Rogan couldn't offer up some fake laughs for his boy... sorry dude but got to keep it real. Not only did I not laugh, the only thing I got was a big brown in ma pants... I kept squinching my butt cheeks together hoping this show was gonna get funny but I waited too long. The big brown that came out my ass was funnier than this show.... you'd be surprised at size of those thick boys!!! As a matter of fact, watching a stray dog drop a deuce will provide more laughs than this epic stinker of a comedy special... sorry schaub but this was a hot mess from start to finish.

Fan of his podcast but this special was a big brown disappointment.

Is it too soon to say that Schaub will go down as one of the all time greats; rivaling the likes of Pryor, Carlin and Chappelle? I think not! As a matter of fact, I don't think any of those legends have ever put out any special that could hold a candle to "You'd Be Surprised"! I've watched it at least 7 times in total now and each time I find some new nugget of comedic genius sprinkled in there. Groundbreaking observational comedy: CHECK. Edge of your seat/side splitting stories: CHECK. A masterpiece of a special that I consider life changing in the best way possible: DOUBLE CHECK! Easily the best debut special I've ever seen. I couldn't be happier that Brendan is following in the footsteps of his childhood heroes, but amazingly, I think he will be surpassing them sooner rather than later. I challenge anyone to watch this special and not immediately feel as they now have a new purpose in life. That is right, this special transcends comedy. And if you sit down and watch this special, it may just transform your life! Tell your friends!

Ok, this wasnt the greatest special of all time. The stories were solid though. If youre a true fan of comedy you should be able to appreciate what hes doing.
