Exclusive: Cyle Zezo, who oversaw alternative programming at The CW, is leaving the broadcaster.
Zezo, who was VP, and Head of Alternative and Digital Programming, is leaving after having spent nine years at the network.
His departure was somewhat expected after former NBCUniversal exec Heather Olander was hired to head up the CW’s push into non-scripted programming. Zezo is expected to move into production.
“Cyle is following his passion to be a producer,” a spokeswoman for The CW told Deadline. “He will continue to executive produce many unscripted shows for The CW and we look forward to continuing to work with him.”
Before The CW was acquired by Nexstar and brought in former Pop TV chief Brad Schwartz as President of Entertainment, Zezo worked closely with Gaye Hirsch, who was EVP Development and left as part of a round of layoffs in February.

Though the word “paranormal” generally refers to phenomena not currently explainable by science, when it comes to paranormal television as a genre, it is strictly defined. There are formulas, patterns, even rules, necessitated by network needs for consistency to keep the audience coming back. But within the scope of their YouTube series Travel the Dead, veteran paranormal investigators and television personalities Katrina Weidman and Heather Taddy are asking if there’s a different way.
Weidman and Taddy both emerged on the television scene in 2007 with A&e’s Paranormal State, one of the early successes in the investigative style format, which lasted five seasons. The two became fast friends on the show, and since then, have gone on to appear on numerous series between them. Weidman continued as host of Real Fear: The Truth Behind the Movies, Paranormal Lockdown, and Portals to Hell, where she’s also an executive producer.

CBS’ reality staple Big Brother was Thursday’s highest-rated show in primetime, scoring a 1.1 rating in the adults 18-49 demographic and 4.19 million viewers. The two-hour all-star edition, which featured a triple eviction, grew a tenth from the previous night’s episode to match its last Thursday demo number in early Nielsen Live+Same Day data.
It teamed with Star Trek: Discovery, teleporting to CBS this fall from CBS All Access, to give the network the overall win in the demo last night. Star Trek grew a tenth from last week’s debut showing.
ABC’s block of game shows returned for its second week and gave the network the win in viewers. The trio swept the top spots in their respective time slots, with Celebrity Family Feud and Press Your Luck up a tenth and Match Game steady.

Fox’s election puppet special “Let’s Be Real” didn’t exactly draw a massive crowd.
The special scored a 0.5 rating among adults 18-49 and drew only 1.8 million total viewers at 9 p.m. on Thursday night, losing out the other three major networks in the time slot. In its defense, the Robert Smigel-produced affair did manage to retain 100% of its lead-in, which was a “Masked Singer” replay. A “Family Guy” replay came in with a 0.4 and 1.3 million viewers on the other side.
After a slow start to life in the broadcast galaxy, “Star Trek: Discovery” gained a little this time around. The second episode of the show’s broadcast run scored a 0.3 rating (up from a 0.2 for the premiere) and 1.7 million total viewers. CBS won the night overall, mainly thanks to “Big Brother” which came in at a 1.1 rating and 4.2 million total viewers. That represents almost exactly the same...

CBS’ Thursday edition of Big Brother finished as primetime’s top-rated show with a 1.1 rating in the adults 18-49 demographic and 4.00 million viewers (Live+Same Day), while facing stiff competition with the season premieres of ABC’s game show block. As a result, the two networks tied for the top spot in the demo. Meanwhile, CBS All Access Star Trek: Discovery had a quiet broadcast premiere on CBS.
ABC won the night in viewers with the fall bows of Celebrity Family Feud, Press Your Luck and Match Game on their new night; the trio aired on Sundays in the summer where they each were No. 1 in their timeslots in both demo and viewers during their runs. ABC and Fox, which aired repeats of The Masked Singer and freshman soap Filthy Rich, were likely impacted by NFL football preemptions last night (Miami-Jacksonville also aired nationally on NFL Network) and could see adjustments later today.

“Big Brother” faced stiffer competition than over the last couple weeks in the form of fresh seasons of ABC’s game shows.
However, the CBS reality series managed to hold off everything to win the Thursday night broadcast ratings race. Last night, “Big Brother” scored a 1.1 rating among adults 18-49 and drew just over 4 million total viewers. That represents a slight uptick ratings-wise from last Thursday’s episode. “Love Island” couldn’t quite capitalize on its strong lead-in, dipping from a 0.6 last time around to a 0.5 rating last night and delivering 1.9 million viewers. CBS rounded things off with the broadcast debut of “Star Trek: Discovery,” which didn’t exactly set the galaxy alight with a 0.2 rating and 1.7 million pairs of eyeballs.

CBS’ Big Brother remained the big show in primetime Thursday, topping the night with a 1.0 rating in the adults 18-49 demographic and 4.06 million viewers. It teamed with a two-hour Love Island to give the network a No. 1 finish in the demo overall among broadcasters.
Big Brother was even with both its Wednesday airing this week and last Thursday’s edition. Love Island meanwhile was steady in the demo compared with Tuesday’s edition while ticking down in viewers.
ABC won in overall total viewers last night with To Tell the Truth, with a special episode at 9 p.m. leading in to the season finale at 10. Those numbers are down from the last original episode of the game show on August 13 (which drew an 0.6 and 3.04 million viewers). But that was with fresh compatriots Holey Moley and the Don’t finale as lead-ins; a Holey Moley repeat did the honors last night.

“To Tell the Truth” ended its fifth season on Thursday night with back-to-back episodes and low numbers.

The final night of the Republican National Convention, which was headlined by a rambling 70-minute speech from President Trump, failed to score a big boost from the previous nights, and lost out to the DNC and Joe Biden’s speech.

CBS’ unscripted combo Big Brother and Love Island helped the network to the top ratings spot Thursday, on a night President Donald Trump’s 70-minute speech from the White House lawn in primetime wrapped the Republican National Convention.
Big Brother scored a night-leading 1.0 rating and 4.01 million viewers, with the all-star edition off a tenth from Wednesday’s episode, which had matched season-best numbers in the demo. It was followed by Love Island, which ticked up a tenth compared with Tuesday’s episode to match its premiere demo number. CBS’ convention coverage followed.
As for that final night of the RNC at 10 p.m., ABC led among the broadcasters in early numbers from Nielsen, as it did for the final night of the Democratic National Convention. It combined with repeats of Holey Moley and To Tell the Truth to make the network the most watched of the night.

For a while on Halloween night it was looking like the good times might end for the unbeaten San Francisco 49ers as they took a hit or two from the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday Night Football. But the Bay Area team hung on for a 25-23 victory to remain steady, as did the ratings for the NFL and Fox.

Overall, pretty much everything stayed the same as Tnf matched its season low of last week in the key demo and saw bop up of just less than 3% in total audience.
Those numbers will likely change in the final adjusted numbers as they almost always do for live sports and awards shows.

NBC’s America’s Got Talent and ABC’s Bachelor In Paradise, two reality series that have consistently perform well, both stumbled Tuesday night.
Agt took the biggest hit. Even though it won the night in both metrics, the NBC reality competition fell three tenths from last week to a 1.3 rating in the adults 18-49 demographic to go with 8.9 million viewers. It was a similar story for Bachelor in Paradise, which dropped a tenth to touch a season low.
With repeats peppered throughout the other networks in primetime, the action elsewhere stayed relatively quiet with the exception of the CW’s investigative docuseries Mysteries Decoded, which ticked up. Meanwhile, the network’s sci-fi series Pandora stayed on par with last week.
With Agt as its lead-in, Bring the Funny held steady. Fox’s First Responders Live also matched last week’s ratings.

ABC’s Bachelor in Paradise continued to find summer love Tuesday, but NBC’s America’s Got Talent still handily won the night overall in both metrics with its first live show despite slipping a tenth week to week.
NBC’s Bring the Funny dipped two-tenths from its last original episode, though that didn’t stop the network from winning the night overall. Bip did grow a tenth with its two-hour show vs. Agt.
Over on the CW, the premiere of the investigative documentary series Mysteries Decoded debuted low, while sci-fi series Pandora continued to stay afloat.
The rest of the evening served up summer reruns save for Fox’s First Responders Live, which held steady.
