Evan Norconk, who plays Sanders, had so much difficulty keeping a straight face during his scenes that the producer considered firing him. Norconk was kept in, and his smiles and laughter are visible at many points during the film.
Although the film premiered at a school-sponsored film festival, numerous laws were broken on camera, including brandishing a knife, running a stop sign, trespassing on government property, driving without a seat belt, and car surfing.
An early cut of the film ended with Judy Collins' studio recording of "Both Sides Now," but it was removed to avoid any potential copyright violations.
