Patty Jenkins Confirms Wonder Woman 3 Is Dead; Says DC Studios Are "Not Interested" In The Character
Despite Gal Gadot's insistence that she'll return as Diana Prince, all signs point to her time as Wonder Woman having ended. James Gunn has already cast a new Superman and is searching for Batman, so there's no reason to believe he'd keep the Dceu actress around.
The plug was pulled on Wonder Woman 3 pretty soon after DC Studios was formed as it didn't fit into their direction for the new Dcu.
That meant Wonder Woman and Wonder Woman 1984 writer/director Patty Jenkins was given her marching orders, and she confirmed the planned threequel isn't happening during a recent interview.
Asked if the movie has been scrapped, the filmmaker said, "Yeah, for the time being, but probably easily forever." Asked if another director would take her place, Jenkins responded, "No, they’re not interested in doing any Wonder Woman for the time being."

As director Patty Jenkins confirms that Wonder Woman 3 was axed by Warner Bros, co-star Chris Pine has expressed his befuddlement at the decision.
Director Patty Jenkins, who made 2017’s Wonder Woman and its 2020 sequel Wonder Woman 1984, has confirmed that the third film in the series is essentially dead. And with the whole DC Universe now in the process of being rebooted by James Gunn, it’s likely that the whole timeline (and its characters) established by Jenkins has come to an end.
Chris Pine, who co-starred as dashing pilot Steve Trevor in Jenkins’ movies, has expressed his amazement that Warner Bros didn’t proceed with Wonder Woman 3 – a project Jenkins worked on for at least a few months before it was cancelled in December 2022.

With Gunn and Safran spearheading the Dcu reboot, it was announced that nearly all projects affiliated with the Dceu would be scrapped, with most of the original cast not reprising their roles.
This included the cancellation, or at least postponement, of the ‘Wonder Woman’ franchise, including a planned third installment directed by Jenkins and starring Gadot as Wonder Woman.
Patty Jenkins opted out of directing ‘Rogue Squadron’ in favor of helming the potential third ‘Wonder Woman’ installment. Despite Gunn and Safran’s Dceu overhaul into the Dcu, there was lingering optimism from both Jenkins and Gadot for their return to the project, until its eventual confirmation that it wouldn’t materialize.
Chris Pine, who played Steve Trevor, Wonder Woman’s significant love interest and a prominent character in Diana’s narrative, recently expressed his surprise at the Dcu’s decision to not continue Diana’s story.

With Gunn’s and Safran’s reboot of the Dcu, came the news that pretty much all projects that were under the Dceu umbrella would be canceled and that almost none of the cast would return to reprise their roles.
Of course, that also meant canceling the ‘Wonder Woman’ franchise or at the least, a planned third movie that Jenkins was supposed to direct and Gadot return to star as Wonder Woman.
Patty Jenkins even walked away from directing ‘Rogue Squadron’ to direct the potential third installment. Even after Gunn and Safran rebooted the Dceu into Dcu some semblance of hope remained both for Jenkins and Gadot that they will return to the Wonder Woman project, until it was ultimately confirmed that this isn’t happening.

Patty Jenkins discusses the end of one project and the beginning of another as she gives an update on the status of her planned Star Wars movie.
Ever since the release of Wonder Woman 1984 back in 2020, Patty Jenkins has jumped from blockbuster project to blockbuster project, but without ever getting to the point of actually entering production. As such, we’re now four years on from the release of that film and Jenkins is still developing films to make.
While we’re hoping that her career doesn’t undergo a 14 year movie directing hiatus like the gap that exists on her filmography between 2003’s Monster and 2017’s Wonder Woman, it has been four years now where she’s moved from project to project as the tectonic plates of Hollywood have continually shifted beneath her.
There was a Cleopatra project with Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot that Jenkins was set to direct.

There was no mention of it during Lucasfilm's splashy Star Wars Celebration last year, but The Mandalorian and Grogu will be the first Star Wars movie released theatrically since 2019's The Rise of Skywalker.
Arriving in place of The Mandalorian season 4, the hope is that Din Djarin and The Child can restore the franchise to its former glory on the big screen (with the Rey-led movie next up for Lucasfilm and James Mangold and Dave Filoni's efforts somewhere on the twin-sunned horizon).

Open-world games have become a common thing nowadays. This is evident from the fact that there are currently two major superhero games in development, and both of them are open-world. One of them is Marvel’s Iron Man, while the other is Black Panther. One of them is in development at EA Motive, while the other is being developed by EA’s Cliffhanger Games.
There’s no set release date for these games as of yet, but fans are already comparing them to other games in this category. One game that comes to mind is none other than Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, which was launched by Insomniac Games back in 2023. Yet everyone knows that DC perfected open-world superhero games years ago.

There’s never been a better time to be a Star Wars fan in terms of quantity. There’s more Star Wars on screen and on the page now than ever before in the franchise’s history. From Disney+ series to video games to The High Republic books and Marvel comics, you can experience new adventures in the galaxy far, far away pretty much any way you want it right now. If Lucasfilm were able to get some movies off the ground, we’d be able to say that the franchise is firing on all cylinders.

It’s no secret that Lucasfilm, in recent years, hasn’t had an exceptional batting average regarding films announced and projects made. The list of “Star Wars” films and series announced in recent years that haven’t come to pass is too long to list but includes an unrealized new trilogy from Rian Johnson, a movie from Taika Waiti that may or may not get made, “Rangers Of The Republic,” a still-unmade “Lando” series, Patty Jenkins’ “Rogue Squadron” (which may have some life in it still) and an unproduced trilogy by the creators of “Game Of Thrones.”

The influx of classic Star Wars games returning to consoles and PCs is something to behold. Sure, some have been terrible, but I’d rather have more classic LucasArts games than another Battlefront II fiasco.
A rumor is going around that a particular game from the mid-1990s will be heading back to the PlayStation platform soon. No, it’s not Masters of Teräs Käsi. It’s Star Wars: Rebel Assault II: The Hidden Empire!

Considering Star Wars: Demolition (a Twisted Metal clone) can be picked up on Psn for $4.99, it’s safe to say the price point will be below $10.

Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins is giving a final update about where the new DC Universe stands with the famed superhero character.
Gal Gadot portrayed Wonder Woman in the two standalone films made by DC before a new creative direction was confirmed for the superhero studio.

“They aren’t interested in doing any ‘Wonder Woman’ for the time being. It’s not an easy task, with what’s going on with DC. James Gunn and Peter Safran have to follow their own heart into their own plans. Patty Jenkins is still working on the screenplay for Star Wars: Rogue Squadron. This is per her appearance on the TCM/Max podcast. Many assumed the project was dead and it’s not.
She was attached to the project in early December of 2020, where it was announced during Disney virtual investor day during Covid. Jenkins then stepped away to work on Wonder Woman 3, which was ultimately deep-sixed by new DC co-Bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran.
Soon after Wonder Woman 3 blew up back in December 2022, Jenkins said in the press then that Lucasfilm and Disney made a new deal for her on Rogue Squadron, a project dear to her heart as she’s taking inspiration from her Air Force fighter pilot father Capt. Williams T. Jenkins who served during the Vietnam War.
We hear from sources that Rogue Squadron was never dead or re-ignited: it’s status quo as far as development is concerned.

“Rogue Squadron” may not be dead after all, but according to Patty Jenkins, “Wonder Woman 3” (or another “Wonder Woman” movie in the new Dcu) certainly is. On TCM‘s “Talking Pictures” podcast, the director confirmed she’s done making “Wonder Woman” movies for DC. “Yeah, for the time being, or easily forever,” she said, reiterating, “Easily forever, yeah.”

Patty Jenkins’ “Star Wars” movie “Rogue Squadron” might not be dead after all. The project, centered on fighter pilots in the “Star Wars” universe, was first announced at the end of 2020 and was put on the calendar for a December 2023 theatrical release. By September 2022, however, Disney had pulled the title from its release schedule. Variety reported last May that “Rogue Squadron” was no longer in active development at Lucasfilm.
In a new interview on the “Talking Pictures” podcast, Jenkins announced that she is now once again in development on the script for “Rogue Squadron” following the dissolution of her planned “Wonder Woman 3” at Warner Bros. and DC Studios. Variety has reached out to Lucasfilm for comment.

Though it was originally announced to much excitement back in 2020 as part of Disney's big Investor Day that year, the plan for Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins to craft Star Wars: Rogue Squadron has since been stalled in a development hanger, and was removed from the studio's release schedule two years later. Yet now, according to Jenkins, things might just be moving again.
Appearing on the Talking Pictures podcast (as reported by IGN), Jenkins revealed that since a third outing for Wonder Woman with Gal Gadot in the role no longer appears to be happening under James Gunn and Peter Safran's new DC movie/TV universe, the director's schedule is open for a potential return to the Star Wars galaxy.

For fans anxiously awaiting Lucasfilm's next big move after the divisive "The Rise of Skywalker" brought an uncertain end to "Star Wars" on the big screen, well, this next update only kind of clears things up.
"Wonder Woman" director Patty Jenkins once was the subject of a breathless announcement back in December of 2020, which revealed that she would be directing a "Star Wars" film about a squadron of X-wing pilots due out by the end of 2023. That obviously didn't end up happening, probably because the title was quietly removed from the studio's release schedule after months and months without a single update. We subsequently found out Jenkins' 'Star Wars" movie had been unceremoniously shelved, possibly in response to the poor reception to "Wonder Woman 1984," but maybe that was a bit premature. In a thoroughly unexpected surprise, this latest bit of news comes not from Lucasfilm itself, but from...

A long time ago, in galaxy far, far away…or wait, just this galaxy in December 2020, Patty Jenkins was set to launch the next spate of post-“The Rise Of Skywalker” “Star Wars” movies with “Rogue Squadron,’ with the movie hitting theaters on December 22, 2023. Obviously, that never happened, with Kathleen Kennedy & co. switching their theatrical release plans around a bunch before settling on a new path forward last May, announcing three new films at Star Wars Celebration, “Rogue Squadron” not being one of them.

Patty Jenkins became really famous when she decided to direct a ‘Wonder Woman’ movie for the Dceu. The movie was a huge success and got Jenkins the record for the biggest opening weekend for a movie directed by a woman. Soon after, she said she was going to direct ‘Wonder Woman 2,’ but she almost left the project because she wasn’t happy with the pay offer from Warner Bros. (WB).
‘Wonder Woman 1984’ was supposed to come out in the U.S. on June 5, 2020, but was delayed to December 25, 2020, because of the Covid-19 pandemic. It was first planned to release on November 1, 2019, but when it finally came out, it got mixed reviews and didn’t make much money. This is seen by some as the start of a downhill trend. Meanwhile, Jenkins made a deal with Disney to direct a ‘Rogue Squadron’ movie, which was announced in 2020 but then...

Patty Jenkins rose to worldwide fame when she signed up with Dceu to do a ‘Wonder Woman’ movie. The movie was a massive hit and gave Jenkins the biggest domestic opening for a female director. Rogue Squadron was first announced all the way back in 2020 and promised to follow the fortunes of the New Republic’s most daring group of pilots as they undertook the kind of deadly missions that would make even Top Gun: Maverick's Maverick quail in his flight suit.
Shortly after the film’s announcement, we discussed some of the film’s narrative possibilities here. Given that Rogue Squadron has popped up in the films and lots of Expanded Universe comics, books and video games,...

Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins signed on to helm Rogue Squadron more than three years ago, but the project hasn’t made much progress since then, with multiple delays amid reports that Jenkins was butting heads creatively with Lucasfilm. The film was finally removed from the schedule in 2022, but Jenkins has now said she’s signed a new deal to return.
While speaking with Ben Mankiewicz on the Talking Pictures podcast, Jenkins explained that she left Rogue Squadron to develop Wonder Woman 3, but when that project fell apart, she returned to Star Wars.
“When I left Star Wars to do Wonder Woman 3, I thought maybe I’ll come back to Star Wars after Wonder Woman 3,” Jenkins said. “So we did a deal for that to happen, started a deal, but I thought I was doing Wonder Woman 3. So when Wonder Woman 3 went away, Lucasfilm and I were like, ‘oh, we gotta finish this deal.

Mando and Grogu are making the leap to the big screen. Lucasfilm has announced that the next "Star Wars" movie will feature the dynamic duo from the Disney+ series "The Mandalorian." Jon Favreau is set to direct "The Mandalorian & Grogu," which is due to begin filming sometime this year. Disney and Lucasfilm seem to be confident in the project as it figures to be the next film in the franchise to actually hit theaters.
Director Favreau has ushered "The Mandalorian" along for three seasons. His other credits include huge hits like "Iron Man" and "The Jungle Book." Favreau is also set to produce alongside Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy, and Dave Filoni, who was recently promoted to the role of Chief Creative Officer at the studio. No word on casting just yet but Pedro Pascal is all but assured to reprise his role as the Mandalorian aka Din Djarin. Beyond that,...

After wrapping up "The Skywalker Saga," Disney (rightly) put the brakes on all their plans for new "Star Wars" movies. The fandom is unquestionably fractured (although everybody seemed to agree that "The Rise of Skywalker" was a big disappointment), there's a saturated market thanks to the neverending stream of Disney+ shows, and there's just no relying on the Og cast to buoy the young blood anymore.
Lucasfilm is in the toughest spot they've been in since George Lucas sold the company. At least back then they had the excitement of the promise of new "Star Wars" movies, but between the TV shows, the Saga Films, and the "A Star Wars Story" spin-offs ... well, "Star Wars" just isn't special anymore. I mean, it is in that the world is still beloved and has the attention of a giant fanbase, but new "Star Wars" just doesn't feel like an event anymore.

Though there are many things that make the Sega Genesis (Mega Drive) one of the greatest consoles ever made, it’s the game’s arcade-like action experiences that arguably age best. Those titles were not just often the showcase for the many things that Sega aspired to do with the Genesis but the kind of purely enjoyable games that remain wonderfully easy to return to after 30+ years.
While I come to celebrate the best of the best of those games today, please note that defining the seemingly simple action genre can be a remarkably challenging experience. For the purposes of this list, I tried to focus on more “pure” action games where the combat was the main draw. Among other things, that meant that Action RPGs and more platforming-heavy Action Platformer titles weren’t really considered for this list. We’ll pay homage to games like Sonic the Hedgehog and Beyond Oasis another day.

Not that this is going to come as a big surprise at this point to anyone who has been following the goings on at Lucasfilm, but Kevin Feige's "Star Wars" movie is not happening. The head of Marvel Studios has been reportedly trying to develop an entry in a galaxy far, far away for several years now. Back in March, it was reported that Feige's movie and Patty Jenkins' "Rogue Squadron" had both been shelved. Now, Feige has addressed the situation directly -- and rather bluntly.
The chief architect of the Marvel Cinematic Universe recently spoke with Entertainment Tonight at a premiere event for "The Marvels" in Las Vegas. Somewhere, in a galaxy far, far away, Darth Vader screams the word “No!” I’ve got upsetting news if you’ve waited years for Kevin Feige to begin work on his Star Wars feature. By my count, there have been approximately eight billion "Star Wars" movies announced or rumored over the last few years. The "Game of Thrones" guys were going to make a trilogy (until it got canceled). Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige was developing a "Star Wars" project (it never really got off the ground). "Wonder Woman" director Patty Jenkins was going to direct "Star Wars: Rogue Squadron" (that's been shelved too). Supposedly we still might get movies from Taika Waititi and Rian Johnson one day. And then there are the three movies announced at Star Wars Celebration this year, from directors James Mangold, Dave Filoni, and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy.
Somewhere in that long list of names is beloved genre movie director Guillermo del Toro, who has collected three Oscars so far and won the hearts of horror, sci-fi, and fantasy fans all over the world. Del Toro was originally approached to direct "Star Wars: Episode VII,...

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, the sequel to the 2018 blockbuster Aquaman, is one of the most anticipated DC movies of 2023. The film will see Jason Momoa return as Arthur Curry/Aquaman, who must face a new threat that could endanger his underwater kingdom and the surface world. However, the film has also faced several challenges and delays during its production, including three rounds of reshoots and constant test screenings. But this may not be a bad thing, as director James Wan has proven before that he can use reshoots to improve his movies and surprise his audiences.
Wan is no stranger to reshoots, as he did the same thing with his 2016 horror hit, The Conjuring 2. In that film, he added the character of the nun, who was the main villain of the movie, in reshoots. He said he was still discovering the design of the demon character while editing...

New Star Wars movies are finally on the way. Lucasfilm has recently announced a new Rey movie set 15 years after The Rise of Skywalker, as well as a movie tracking the origin of the Jedi from James Mangold, and a Mandoverse event film from Dave Filoni. Plus, Taika Waititi is writing a Star Wars movie he might also star in, while Deadpool 3 director Shawn Levy has signed up to do something in the galaxy far, far away, too. After years of waiting, fans have a whole slate of new Star Wars movies to look forward to, with the first said to be releasing as early as 2025.
But we’ve all been here before, haven’t we? It feels like only yesterday that Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy announced a Rogue Squadron movie directed by Wonder Woman‘s Patty Jenkins for a 2023 release. And remember when a Disney exec said Kevin Feige...

In November of 2017, just prior to the release of "Star Wars: The Last Jedi," it was announced that director Rian Johnson, working with his creative collaborator Ram Bergman, would immediately begin work on three new "Star Wars" feature films, set entirely apart from the Skywalker-centric story already being explored. The actual story or content of this mysterious new trilogy was not revealed, although Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy expressed enthusiasm, saying that Johnson was "a creative force, and watching him craft 'The Last Jedi' from start to finish was one of the great joys of my career."
In May 2020, it was likewise announced that Taika Waititi, the director of "Jojo Rabbit" and an episode of "The Mandalorian," was also going to be co-writing and directing his own "Star Wars" feature film with award-winning "1917" and "Last Night in Soho" screenwriter Krysty Wilson-Cairns. Again, no details were announced, so any...
