Talla tells Kelly that they were able to reconstruct part of the synthesizer access code log and determine that Marcus Finn was the one who replicated the paint used to vandalize Isaac's lab. In the next scene, Claire Finn states that Marcus used her access code to replicate the paint. If he'd used her access code, Talla would have, at least initially, believed it was Dr. Finn who's replicated the paint, or someone who'd used her code. She would not immediately know it was Marcus without further investigation.
When Charly Burke is in the mess hall explaining what happened to the USS Quimby to Isaac, flashbacks show her and her friend Amanda wearing the new style of Union uniform that is introduced in this episode, rather than the season 2 style uniform which would have been period-appropriate. Marcus's nightmare sequence shows crewmen aboard the Orville in that same battle correctly wearing the season 2 uniform, though it inexplicably shows the new design of Isaac and the Orville's refitted corridors (as this is a nightmare, not a genuine flashback, it is possible to excuse this as a faulty/jumbled memory).
While computer developers often metaphorically put something of themselves into so-called Easter Eggs, this is not to be taken literally and is not a substitute for a full off-site backup.
While hiding from the Kaylon in the gas giant, Captain Mercer orders the torpedo-packed shuttle to be situated 2 kilometers off the port bow. The external visuals show the shuttle, at most, a couple of hundred meters from the ship, nowhere near the 2 km that the captain ordered.
When speaking with Ensign Burke and listening to her grievances, Captain Mercer mistakenly calls Isaac a person.
Isaac's body is being taken to Union scientists for study, as though it is a unique opportunity to study a Kaylon. Numerous Kaylon bodies were left onboard the Orville after their boarding party was overthrown in season 2's "Identity" two-parter. Union scientists would have already had plenty of access to Kaylon bodies.
When Mercer is talking with Charly in her quarters, the ship is attacked by the Kaylon and he is summoned to the bridge. Charly is then seen at the navigator station. Her being in her quarters when Ed comes to speak with her suggests she is off-duty. There is no reason for an off-duty navigator to be summoned to the bridge for a combat situation. Whoever the on-duty navigator is will suffice.
Much of this episode takes place with the Orville in space dock being refitted following the battle with the Kaylon. The Orville was already shown being repaired from its battle with the Kaylon at the end of the second part of "Identity." 5 additional season 2 episodes took place following that episode, which did not feature the new design work seen here in terms of the ship's exterior, Union uniforms, the new shuttles,or Isaac's redesign, so this episode does not work as an "unseen" adventure taking place between scenes or episodes of season 2. Additionally, LaMarr makes reference to a Moclan weapons upgrade that the Orville received 3 episodes after "Identity." This episode seemingly overwrites the last 5 episodes of season 2 while also counting their events in its past.
The crew of the Orville run a test of the new Pterodon fighter craft using live ammunition in and around an active repair station. This is grossly and needlessly dangerous and runs a high risk of causing damage to equipment and life.
When Mercer and Grayson leave the bridge, Mercer doesn't put anyone else in charge. Usually he puts Bortus in charge, if he is on duty.
