Call of Duty and Fortnite are perhaps two of the most popular names you’ll hear in the video game industry. Both of these universes bring players in with the hope of action-packed gameplay, along with the freedom to personalize their playstyles based on each season and setting they’re diving into.
However, no matter how great a game, sometimes it can feel a bit much like playing the same thing over and over again. That’s where other games come in, and here are five of the most unique games you should try out if you haven’t already.
5. Return of the Obra Dinn This one’s a blend of creative art direction and puzzle-solving that truly challenges you.
At first glance, Return of the Obra Dinn seems like a work of art that’s not supposed to be played. Instead, you’d likely be admiring every frame and...

Pools is a game that contains no Ui, no dialogue, no health system, and no objective markers. Normally when a game is described as a, “vibes-only,” experience, it still contains a few other elements beyond sheer vibes. In Pools, vibes is all there is; the whole game depends on an eerie atmosphere that grows more intensely unsettling as the player progresses through each level.
Pools is available now on PC.
It is also a game that requires a great deal of patience and is not going to be for everyone. I have heard it being compared to The Backrooms a couple of times, but I’d argue that there is actually a lot more to The Backrooms in terms of enemies and gameplay mechanics. In Pools, the only gameplay mechanics are walking, running, and controlling the camera.
You cannot interact with anything in the environment; this means that you can’t pick up objects,...

Pools is the Backrooms but in a Unique Way

Pools was developed by Tensori, and according to the developer, it is set in a sort of “art gallery” where players look around the place, listen to sounds, and navigate. The developer has released gameplay footage,...

Kick now lets users block gambling and hot tub streams sitewide.
The platform–which has been working overtime to pitch itself as a viable alternative to Twitch–was co-founded by Stake.com co-founder Ed Craven, and since the beginning has made it clear that, unlike Twitch, it’s a haven for gambling streams.
But it seems to have realized rampantly promoting gambling might not be the best move. In a June 30 tweet, Craven said Kick has overall “removed some unnecessary exposure to gambling related content throughout our recommended formula’s [sic].” On July 3, Kick followed up by adding two toggles where users can choose to block all Slots & Casinos streams and/or all Pools, Hot Tubs & Bikinis streams.
Kick’s official account retweeted the toggle announcement, saying, “From tweet to feature within 48 hours, keep the ideas coming!”
It then later re-promoted the toggle in meme form, using HasanAbi holding a baby...

Kick, the quick-growing livestreaming platform created by Stake.com co-founder Ed Craven, really, really wants to challenge Twitch for top spot in the “Go Live” industry.
It’s reportedly offered tens of millions of dollars to streamers like Kai Cenat and IShowSpeed in an effort to get them to switch platforms, has pitched itself as a haven for people hit with Twitch’s ban hammer or denied partner status, and earlier this month announced “KickCon,” which we’re pretty sure is just a semi-elaborate trolling maneuver targeting Twitch’s own annual convention.
But under all this noise, how is Kick actually doing in terms of viewership?
According to StreamElements and its analytics partner Streams Charts, Kick has more than 4x’d its monthly number of hours viewed, going from 12.8 million in January to 13.3 million in February, 35.8 million in March, and 51.8 million in April.
Probably unsurprisingly, the largest chunk of those...

The second season of Netflix's dramedy Never Have I Ever is here, which means we're excited to see Devi, Fabiola, and Eleanor back in action. While we're happy to see some familiar faces, we're also intrigued by some new characters such as Aneesa, played by Megan Suri, who joined the show's latest season. One of these new additions is Malcolm Stone, a new student at Sherman Oaks High. Played by Tyler Alvarez, Malcolm is an endearing but slightly self-absorbed former Disney star who catches Eleanor's attention.
We first meet Malcolm at Devi's party, where he's regaling people with stories of his former glory days at Disney. According to Fabiola and Eleanor, he went to elementary school with them before becoming a star on a fictional Disney show about a magical limo. He returned to school after the show ended, explaining, "I guess my Adam's apple became too pronounced to keep playing a fourth grader.

Exclusive: Ariel Winter (Modern Family) and Mason Gooding (Booksmart) have joined the cast of the indie feature Pools, which begins production in Chicago later this month.
They’ll star opposite previously announced cast members Odessa A’zion (Grand Army), Michael Vlamis and Tyler Alvarez (American Vandal).
Written and directed by Sam Hayes, Pools follows Kennedy (A’zion), who is stuck at summer school after flunking her sophomore year of college. Amidst a heat wave, she rallies a ragtag crew for a pool-hopping adventure through the wealthy estates of Lake Forest, on the north shore of Chicago. But as the secrets spill, a wild night of fun becomes a cathartic journey of self-discovery.
Winter will play Delaney, who is one to stir the pot, and becomes the focal point of a love triangle. The character plays tough and always knows how to win, but she really just wants her best friend back.
