- Ben Graham and Alisha Cole are successful personal injury lawyers. When Ben sees a half-naked man forced into a vehicle and subsequently into a flat across the street, he does the right thing and calls the police. They seem little interested and the reason is simple: it's the police who are holding and interrogating a suspected terrorist outside of the law. Despite their best efforts, there is a clear and consistent attempt to muzzle them. Ben is arrested, his previously handling of a personal injury lawsuit is leaked to the press in an effort to tarnish his reputation and eventually, his law firm suspends him. They realize that if they are going to succeed, they will need to gather irrefutable proof.—garykmcd
- Civil law firm colleagues and life partners Ben Graham and Alisha Cole accidentally see a handcuffed Oriental man in briefs only caught and pulled in a van by two men. Ben later discovers the captive, who says to be Mohamed Agiza, an Egyptian innocently suspected of terrorism, is held the house next door, but the police tells him to back off. Ben is blackmailed to keep quiet or get in trouble himself. He still starts researching and contacts Agiza's lawyer, Daniel Black. Alisha would back down as the pressure rises, but Ben pushes on despite being suspended on a fake allegation and wins over their detective Kenny Reed. Sensing her promotion to partner is conditional on silence, Alisha resigns and they take on the secret services, which even admit to operate outside the law 'because the courts sabotage anti-terrorism'. The result changes more then their lives.—KGF Vissers
