I guess if this episode is release today, there will be uproar on the internet about racism and everything. The time where everything is innocent and people like to play the stereotype. I gave it 8 star because I felt that it is so unique and fun. I dont know why they choose the "Pong Ping" name, maybe they have no idea what chinese name is at that time and coincidentally someone from the crew love chinese ping pong so why not.

Rupert was relaunched as an animated series in the early 1990s. This time as a Canadian and British co production.
The central concept is Rupert gets transported to faraway magical lands where he has adventures.
The first episode sees Rupert digging to China and then upsetting a dragon. Before long Rupert needs to save his friend Pong Ping from a fiery end.
The jealous dragon belongs to the Chinese emperor, so Rupert needs to keep everyone happy.
The animation is average and so is the story. There is nothing here that dazzles apart from the beginning when Rupert leaves his home.
It is a cartoon show that knows its audience and it is going to be children. They would find it entertaining enough.
