The one star reviews come from one week old accounts and are the only activity on them.

Very promising
sapirtzurr1 September 2019
I've watched four episodes so far and I have to say i'm hooked! As a jewish Israeli, who knew more about the three boys story than the story of Mohamed himself, I just can't take my eyes off of the screen. It's fascinating to watch the reality as a tv series. The editing is perfect. The acting of the leads on point. Of course the content is very delicate and therefore creates lot of negative comments. People need to know what happened, and the truth hurts. We are all humans.

An amazingly painful and extremely realistic depiction of a fascinating real life story
veltzerdoron2 September 2019
The acting is superb, the script, pure genius, the cinematography and camera work, divine.

As for politics, this series is not about the kidnapped settlers, its about the murder of the Palestinian boy Mohamed Abu Khdeir from Shoafat but the two sides are portrayed with masterful depth, compassion & extremely thought out and thoughtful care for detail. I found the depictions well balanced and thought provoking and if you were wondering what's the deal with all the rest of the hateful, badly written & moronic reviews, well, if you want to understand them then that's just another reason why you must see this show.

Powerful and excellent
elishevasadan5 September 2019
The story looks more like a documentary than a drama - it is so real. It is painful to watch, but it's done very well and all the actors are perfect in their roles. You can almost smell the reality of the undivided conflicted city of Jerusalem. Don't be impressed by low grades given to the series by right wing Israelis - they fear that people will watch the series. It's a realistic masterpiece!

This is a brave Israeli series taking a stark look at a cancer in Israeli society.

Great show, truthfull retelling, attacked by wave of Ultra right Isralies
taimurman5 September 2019
Great show. A turthfull retelling if a horrible event. Exact and full of facts, it shows a complex situation in a complex conflict and a mix of nationalism, human feelings and religoun. Do not believe the wave of hate and nad reviews made by one week old accounts of Ultra right Israiles. Watch for yourself and trust the Metric and the fresh score

An outstanding and thrilling insight into the conflict in Israel
Sarden12 February 2022
I have never given a 10 before, but this is the time for it. 'Our Boys' is at the same time a tense and thrilling crime and justice drama and an insight into recent Israeli history and the sometimes troubled life in this part of the world.

I feared it would be an Israeli-biased series, but it is not at all. Some may say it is not an entirely accurate depiction of what actually took place, but it seems to be a balanced account of events. It certainly doesn't put the orthodox community of Israel in a good light, and I suspect this could be behind some of the poorer reviews here.

The narrative is gripping and the acting outstanding across the board, but especially by the young actor playing 'Avishai'. And as the actual events of 2014 were so dramatic, the very human drama unfolding in front of you is wrapped up in a captivating crime story affecting the whole country of Israel and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. It will keep you intrigued and thrilled while you learn something new. I wish more people in the West would watch shows like this instead of all the drivel that so much time is wasted on. Well done HBO and the team behind this.

Complex with an interesting perspective
miriamganim2 September 2019
Great miniseries from all angles: phenomenal acting, cinematography, and story. Sad to see so many negative reviews from reviewers who only chose to watch the first couple of episodes with a closed mind. Sometimes the truth is hard to watch when it challenges your beliefs. Hopefully, more reviewers will give this series a chance and appreciate the perspective its depicted from. It would be great to see more honest reviews that aren't clouded by personal biases.

Gripping
limitednov15 August 2019
I was really impressed with the premiere of this series. This series is stacked with accomplished Israeli actors, and it shows the acting is great. The writing was also great. The show felt extremely realistic. The writers were able to create so much tension during this first episode. I was on the edge of my seat and engaged the entire episode. This premiere had me craving more for the next episode. I can't believe the IMDB rating is currently at 6.7, this is madness.

Gripping and Amazing!! Dont mind the negative biased reviews
isaias adames30 August 2019
I realize now after watching the first 4 episodes that every bad review must come from israelis and their biased political point of view and have nothing to do with the series quality. I am so glad I didnt listen to them because I would have missed a fantastic series on par with Fauda and Hatufim. The acting, specially Mohammed's father, is great and believable, the script and tension are superb!!

HBO Fails to portray the real events and the reality
skvetny1 October 2019
Even as a fictional series which tempts to mimic the mutual murders in this conflict, it fails to provide the viewer with an unbiased agenda or a true glimpse of the reality of how it feels to live in such a neighborhood where you can't have an ordinary childhood without fearing for your life constantly.

The Camera work BTW is pretty good, however the story-line gets way too tangled right about the 3rd episode. Watching it was a headache.

Great and must watch
karamshadid-672961 September 2019
Finally something portraying some of the truth. There were many bad ratings and criticism which made me wonder why such an attack on this series so I watched it and realised that alot the critics are trying to hide the truth of what is happening to the Palestinian people. Shame on you instead of trying to change the system they are trying to hide it from the world. Great series and an eye opener.

Tense and compelling TV mini-series on the Jewish-Arab conflict
paul-allaer16 August 2019
"Our Boys" (2019 release; US-Israeli co-production; 10 episodes; 580 min.) reminds us at the beginning that these are "dramatized events that took place in Greater Jerusalem in the Summer of 2014". As the series opens with "Chapter 1: Out Of the Depth: I Cry For You", three Jewish boys aged 19, 16 and 16 are missing, and a nationwide manhunt is soon developing. There are mass prayers held at the Western Wall and other places "to protect and bring back our boys". Meanwhile it is "June 29, 2014" and we get to know a guy at the Shabak (Israel's equivalent of the FBI) headquarters in Jerusalem. He is pessimistic... At this point we are less than 15 min. into the series, but to tell you more of the plot would spoil your viewing experience, you'll just have to see for yourself how it all plays out.

Couple of comments: this is the latest mini-series featured on HBO. Almost from the get-go, there is so much tension in the air that it is at times almost too much. The kidnapping of the three Jewish boys sets in motion a series of events that pit Israel's Jewish (both secular and Orthodox) population vs. the Israeli Arab population, and the picture that emerges is complex and nuanced, at least as portrayed in this mini-series. (Keep in mind that one-fifth of Israel's population is Arab. ) The production of this mini-series is top notch. It's impossible to tell whether some of these events (like the mass prayers) were re-staged and/or whether some existing TV footage was used. (It's probably a bit of both.) This mini-series really does give a good sense how close up these various factions live within just Jerusalem (East Jerusalem, which is majority Arab, and West Jerusalem, which is majority Jewish). (I had the great fortune of visiting Jerusalem some years ago. What an amazing place it is!)

I saw the first two (of the 10 total ) episodes earlier this week (these 2 episodes are now available on HBO On Demand), and I am completely in the grip of this mini-series. I cannot even begin to imagine what all is going to happen still in the remainder 8 episodes. This is tense and compelling TV watching. If you have any interest in the Jewish-Arab conflict in the Middle East, I'd readily suggest you check this out and draw you own conclusion. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

This serie is maybe politically too correct but excellent as it is.
mike-toivonen9 September 2019
As it states in the beginnig this movie is a feature based on real events, not a documentary film. Those who have given the film one or two stars have not seen the film but only focused on the politics. And you should also see it as a film, and leave the politics aside. Very good script, acting and directing! It's not just what I THINK. I can SEE that it is very well done

Excellent mood, acting, pace
maniort26 August 2019
This will do very little to balance the Wokeness, but oh well. Contrary to popular opinion, and I should know being from the area, this is not a political show. It is a thriller that, sadly, triggers a raw audience. Understandable in today's digital culture, if regrettable.

It has a deliberate pace I can't quite compare to anything else. The Palestinian father deserves an Emmy.

Interesting so far
laxplaya22613 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I will continue to watch the series but feel it is extremely left leaning and Anti-Israel. They barely focus any attention on what caused all the hatred in the first place, the abduction and murder of the 3 Jewish boys.

The writers so far have shed no light on that at all. It's only about the "revenge", which may turn out to be not true, although the way the show has been going, I believe it was revenge.

The whole circumstance is sad and innocents have been lost on both sides. I hope these groups find peace.

I think the show does a decent job at keeping the viewer engaged, the acting is well done.

Reviting story
youseffau29 August 2019
Well worth watching. While the acting as dramatization lacks at times it certainly tells a great story. It shows the empathy of the Israeli authorities while respecting their own suffering. It tells a the emotional story of what the Palestinians go through when they lose a loved one. Can't wait for the next episodes.

biased storyline, but well made series
oded-5663330 September 2019
Extremely Tendentious and biased toward showing only the palestinian point of view. The storyline starts after the murder of the 3 Israeli youth and shows in detail of the murder and investigations following the murder of the palestinian boy. the show is good, but I stand on the fact that there are two sides to the events and showing in detail of only one of them throughout entire series is a huge bias making the viewers ask themselves whether the intentions of the producers were pure and how objectively this series represent the real life events

Captivating Series, Highly Recommended
alimabbas-9325 August 2019
I find this series very captivating and feels more pragmatic. I feel like this is a great start to a great series that is not shy from taking people where they don't want to go (and some dare not to go), and this is exactly what I love about this series. I find myself connecting to the Arabs and Israelis in the series, as well as understanding the conflict from a new lens. A humanizing lens.

Exceptional TV

Just like watching a documentary, the acting is superb and being filmed where it happened, it couldn't feel more like you are watching it as it happens. We could do with more TV like this
