A great war story

Between the Lines is an excellent short film. I don't know if it's a first time director but camera work, production design and storytelling are first-rate. The use of digital technology creates a bleached, atmospheric look which shows the promises of the format. The story is pretty straightforward, it's just about a bunch of lost soldiers, but watching the film really feels like being there with them, not knowing where danger is gonna come from. Even though it's set during WW2, there is a timeless quality to the movie which makes it feel relevant to what's happening in the world nowadays, and ultimately shows how meaningless and useless wars are. It might sound cliché-ish, but Between the Lines is everything but that It is shot with a lightness of touch and talent that makes it compelling, disturbing, and moving at the same time. Can't wait to see what that guy does next.

An amateur film with the enthusiasm and talent of a professional

I was involved in the making of this film and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. It was a great company and the director had a great passion for what he was doing which encouraged everyone involved to give it their all. The finished project is a fantastic attempt at a war story, not the easiest to do on an amateur budget, and I was more than surprised at how well it had been put together. With a clear knowledge of war epics such as 'Band of Brothers' this film really encapsulates the relationships between the men as well as the odd action scene to keep the blood pumping.

If you get a chance to see this film, go for it because it really shows what can be achieved if you really love what your do.
