I am but an administrative employee, yet, I myself would know that to cover ones face with a mask and to wear a protective suit, would be an appropriate act in these awful bacterial outbreak conditions??? (At the time, they were unsure of the strain of bacteria or the devastation that was about to unfold. I can't believe the researchers were so irresponsible regarding this topic. It is common knowledge & sense to do so. How could the paramedics (also the detectives) go into a buliding with suspected infected citizens, without these obvious requirements. A mask would be the least you would wear, wouldn't you? It was a dramatic episode though, after watching the 1st instalment of (Infection Part .. S8 ep 4) Chicago Fire... Second being (Infection Part 2..S5 ep 4) Chicago Med) the third of 3 instalments being (Infection Part 3 Chicago PD S7.. ep4) A Great crossover triple episode involving all three of the Chicago franchise series. I was well pleased all three episodes coincided with each other on the same evening, that was really exciting. Great viewing tv but, please do your research a little better next time 👌

Warning: Spoilers
I'm a PHARMACIST. I, and many other people including whoever does medical consulting for this show, have taken Microbiology! We ALL KNOW that the bacteria shown under the microscope was a STREPTOCOCCUS and NOT a Staphylococcus, as claimed throughout the Infection group of episodes! Their medical consultant should hang his or her head in SHAME.
Safety first people!!!
