Michelle's Bellesa Films still in a rut
Mile High's new Bellesa Films label, credited to creator "Michelle" and using the tag line: "Porn. By Women.", has yet to impress me, thanks to its initial series of rather tepid Couples Romance vignettes. They've all been directed by Jacky St. James, who saves her best work for Mile High's great Sweet Sinner banner, and play like a lukewarm version of the same distributor's Erotica X line, including the use of insipid titles (e.g. here, "I'm Cold" and "I Care About You") for the individual segments.
This set of vignettes, per its title "No Going Back", revolves around second chances. The brief set-ups before sex begins are told via voice-over narration, keeping actual dialog to a minimum. Writing is credited to "Jayne Renault" and production manager/NonSex actor Shawn Alff, but is hardly up to the level that has made Jacky a leading Adult filmmaker starting with her early scripts for New Sensations.
Silliest scene is the finale "I'm Cold" in which AJ Applegate relates how she shared an airbnb rental in Milwaukee with old school chum Damon Dice. There's only one bed, which they share and how surprising, the duo make love, which they never consummated years back when they were classmates. This is beyond lame in terms of storytelling, and the scene doesn't even have an exterior shown - most likely because we're in Chatsworth rather than Wisconsin for the shoot.
Other vignettes are similarly cornball, particularly "Messy Roommates" in which lovely Alina Lopez spars with roomie Mike Mancini over food taken without authorization from their common refrigerator and lack of privacy when Mike storms into her room while she's masturbating. The segue to sex between the incompatible duo is unconvincing.
Tyler Nixon is stuck in the soggy "I Care About You", a familiar saga of transitioning from best friends to lovers with Kendra Spade (also unconvincing), while "Make a Move" has the currently rising talent Avi Love and studly Ricky Johnson from high school consummating an unrequited crush.
