People are too harsh
FlorianLaur1 November 2019
I don't quite understand all the "1" ratings. Is the show that bad? I don't think so.

Sure, the story lines now often feel like we saw them this way before one way or another. But if those previous stories were funny, why not?

We saw Jay(this time Phil) thinking the worst of Gloria, but I always find it kind of funny when Gloria regails us with stories of her (very criminal?) past in Colombia.

And the fridge? I thought it was hilarious (although slightly unrealistic) and a nice nod at a woman as gay man's best friend (and once Cam and Mitch realize it, see where it ends up!).

I think if you accept that the show is in it's 11th year, that actors have grown (some more than others) and don't overthink it, Modern Family is still funny.

Good addition to this season
weestokesy21 March 2020
This episode has some hilarious moments. Claire trying to keep everyone out the house during an interview with a magazine and Cam and Mitch fighting over a refrigerator is the true highlights of this episode. I really love the chemistry between Phil and Gloria, they make a really good pair and I liked that Phil gets paranoid about Gloria after he watches Snapped (a show about woman driven to violent crime)

Really funny Scenarios and performances. This show has never let me down.

Jay

Warning: Spoilers
It seemed weird and off that Jay had no storyline in this episode but you know what made up for it? That last scene. It was funny and nice at the same time. I wonder why Ed has few scenes here though hmm.

LOL with Claire trying to keep everyone out of the house. xD I can't believe she still let Luke be with his girlfriend although that part was really funny ("Adult" Luke hahaha) And Alex? Hahahaha no escape from the cold.

I enjoyed Mitch and Cam and their fridge storyline, while a tad impossible, still interesting. Plus that Shallow song and Throuple Pepper and Ronaldo talk. It puts me at ease how Mitch and Cam resolve their issues.

And my favorite, SNAPPED! Who would've thought Phil would like to watch creepy murder documentaries hahahaha and it's cliche how Gloria seems to have the talent for realty but going with the flow of this show, it will be fun to see more of her and Phil's relationship, one that is not toxic and weird like how it would seem from the jokes of the first seasons.

WE HAVE TO TALK ABOUT THAT little Luke scene with Gloria on the phone. So cute! Where did they dig that up? xD I NOW WANNA see the episode it was supposed to be in and every extra scenes from the past not included in the final cuts.

A lot better than season premiere
nathandoyle19803 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The premiere was bad... so so bad and the apple tie in was just selling out in my opinion and really annoying for those of us who have followed from the start but this was a step up from it. Found myself laughing out loud at a few of the jokes this week.

I'm glad that this is better than last week's at least. Come on now modern family... Pull it in and finish this season and show strong.

My Name is Bridget & I Loved The Name of the Smart Fridge!
dhainline128 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
My favorite story in this episode was the one about Bridget the smart fridge who came between Mitchell and Cam. It was priceless the way Mitchell said Bridget opened up new experiences to him (i.e., turkey sandwich with apples) and their karaoke of the Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga duet from "A Star is Born" was excellent and funny! Bridget was like a therapist to Jay when he opened up to her about his dancing career his father didn't support. I did like the secondary story of Phil's obsession with "Snapped" and him thinking his real estate student Gloria was out to get the class pet killed. Gloria has proved to be ruthless in past episodes and Phil knew this. The story of Claire was a bit weaker but funny too!

Nothing wrong with this at all.

Warning: Spoilers
If you accept that this is the 11th series of the show and that obviously it's harder to come by new ideas then you'll still find an awful lot to like in 'Modern Family'. I don't understand or think the 1 star reviews are justified.

Lovely to see Julie Bowen having lots to do, and that the Dunphy kids were all teamed together.

I'd like to see more time dedicated to Luke and his older girlfriend (played by the lovely Amy Pietz, who I always remember from 'Caroline in the City') and hopefully a return by Molly Ephraim (the original Mandy on 'Last Man Standing' in later episodes.

The Cam/Mitch story was ok, and it's typical Ed O'Neil that he appears for about a minute and gets the biggest laugh.

I think people need to lay off this show a bit and enjoy it for what it has become in its latter series.

Garbage
justindavidsonbb3 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Tuned into this episode because it couldn't possible get worse than the premiere, could it?! Yes. It could. This episode was utter garbage, could not even finish it, which saddens me. This show used to be one of the best on television, and now is totally un-watchable. Would give 0/10 if I could.

It's not funny anymore
Just-A-Girl-1430 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I used to love this show so much! I still kinda do but I don't have a lot of reasons to love it anymore. The cast is great but it's just not funny anymore. The jokes are so forced! All the characters act like they are their own cartoons. It's so fake, there's nothing real about it. Take Haley and Dylan for example, there's so much REAL funny things that happen to inexperienced young parents but instead they waste it on Dylan having a sunburn in a shape of a baby and Haley getting a black eye from... a baby. Really? Same with Mitch and Cam. We all use electronics and smart devices too much and it can get in the way of relationships (like when everyone is so busy with their smartphones that they don't even talk anymore), but how many people buy them flowers? If you ever bought your smartphone flowers please mark my review as unhelpful. Seriously, it's getting ridiculous! The show was funny and successful because it was REAL. Now it's neither. It's such a shame!

What a Shame
timbirtv3 October 2019
They should try writing episodes that are actually funny. Also, I went from loving a lot of the characters in the early seasons to absolutely hating them now when they appear on screen. Manny, Alex, Claire, Cam, Haley and even Phil have become extremely annoying
