Disparage the Marvel Cinematic Universe all you want, but there's no denying that when it comes to casting, Kevin Feige and the McU's longtime casting director, Sarah Halley Finn, have the magic touch. It's all but impossible now to picture anyone other than Robert Downey Jr. lending his snarky wit to the self-declared "genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist" Tony Stark, or to imagine a different actor bringing the same spot-on mix of wholesomeness and New Yorker defiance like Chris Evans did as Steve Rogers. And let's not forget Thor and Loki, two Marvel Comics veterans who could've easily been dismissed as dorky C-listers, only to become the franchise's most long-lasting players thanks to Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston.
For all of its missteps, that hasn't changed in the MCU post-"Avengers: Endgame." Esteemed character actors Oscar Isaac, Hailee Steinfeld, and Florence Pugh all brought the full brunt of their talents to...

Iman Vellani’s Ms. Marvel was only recently introduced to the MCU but she is already the star of her own standalone show and was a vital part of the ‘The Marvels.’ It seems that Ms. Marvel will be a massive part of the MCU going forward.
Kamala Khan will be one of the main characters of the upcoming ‘Marvel Zombies,’ she will also be a star of the ‘Young Avengers’ project, an initiative that she started back in ‘The Marvels.’
Now Daniel Richtman, popular leaker and scooper with a solid track record, published on his private Patreon that ‘Ms. Marvel’ might be getting a second season. The show hasn’t been approved yet and it’s currently being discussed, the decision is expected to be made soon according to the leaker.
Ms.Marvel Season 2 is being discussed at Marvel Studios, but not approved yet

The Best Drama Writer category at Sunday’s 2024 BAFTA TV Crafts Awards was a pretty stacked one. “Black Mirror” creator Charlie Brooker was nominated with “Ms. Marvel” creator Bisha K. Ali for their work on “Black Mirror: Demon 79” while British favourite Sally Wainwright was cited for “Happy Valley,” a critical darling over here in the UK. Sarah Phelps was also nominated for “The Sixth Commandment” while Emmy-winner Jesse Armstrong was recognized for his work on awards-juggernaut “Succession.”
We spoke to Armstrong on the red carpet at the Craft Awards, which were held at The Brewery in East London. Armstrong was keen to point out the strength of his fellow nominees and how this category felt like a particularly impressive one, while he said he was grateful that his American show was recognized by the British BAFTAs.

Netflix’s anthology series “Black Mirror” has a pretty impressive BAFTA record, amassing a total of 24 nominations at both the BAFTA TV Awards and the BAFTA TV Craft Awards since 2012. Like the Creative Arts Emmys, the Craft Awards are dedicated to honoring the below-the-line categories. This year’s Craft Awards, which were just held on Sunday, added to the BAFTA record of “Black Mirror” by awarding them five nominations and two victories (more on those wins later).
Specifically, it was the fifth and final episode of the sixth season of “Black Mirror,” “Demon 79” that was nominated. We caught up with several key creatives behind this episode when we attended Sunday’s Craft Awards, which were hosted at the Brewery in East London by British documentarian and TV host Stacey Dooley. Customers can access the MyDisney site to manage their accounts and marketing preferences across Disney services like Disney+ and Hulu.
Disney has the ability to offer different types of entertainment experiences in ways that none of its competitors can. The company has its TV and movie studios, of course, which churn out dozens of titles per year that eventually make their way to streamers like Disney+ and Hulu, but it also has its theme parks, cruise ships, as well as online shopping choices that customers can access from anywhere. It can be confusing to keep login information for websites that deliver these experiences and products straight, which is why Disney is rolling out the new “MyDisney” unified login ability to allow consumers to access all their various Disney accounts with a single username and passowrd.
The MyDisney experience will allow customers to log into Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+ with one email and password combo.

Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel is a movie star. "The Marvels" has been cited as another sign of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's fall from dominance, but everyone loves young actor Iman Vellani as this spunky heroine. /Film even named Kamala the best movie hero of 2023 and proclaimed her the future of the MCU.
Of course, Kamala comes from Marvel Comics and was co-created by G. Willow Wilson, Sana Amanat, Stephen Wacker, Adrian Alphona, and Jamie McKelvie. The comics made a bizarre move of synergy in 2023; between Kamala's Disney+ show "Ms. Marvel" and the theatrical run of "The Marvels," she heroically dies in "Amazing Spider-Man" #26 (by Zeb Wells and John Romita Jr.), published in May 2023.
Wells' "Amazing Spider-Man" isn't exactly a fan-favorite (the stink of breaking up Peter and Mj has carried across his run) and this was a low point. It was the cheapest of cheap melodrama and Kamala perished while pulling guest star duty.

New data from Ampere Analysis shows that shows like ‘The Last of Us’ have helped raise public perception of video game adaptations.
Many fans of the “Fallout” video game series are likely already burning through the first season of the TV adaptation on Prime Video. “Fallout” Season 1 bowed on Amazon’s streaming service on April 10, and initial reviews suggest that critics are just as excited about the show as those who spent thousands hours playing the games. Adaptations of video games have often been a tricky nut for studios to crack, but new data from Ampere Analysis shows that as the quality of such projects has improved, so too has their popularity.
Ampere’s data found that search volumes for video game adaptations have risen, while comic book adaptation searches have fallen. Fan perception of the quality of comic book adaptations has fallen, and studios are responding by making big changes to their comic franchises.

The downside to the now-inoperative Marvel Television was that its offerings were exhaustively inconsistent in quality. Would you get a mature, nuanced examination of topics like systemic corruption, religious faith, and personal trauma like in "Daredevil"? Or would you get a clumsy mashup of "Succession"-style dynasty drama and white savior tropes like in "Iron Fist"? One could never be too sure. But while the lows were especially low, the highs also tended to be higher than the Marvel Cinematic Universe's films.
Funnily enough, that trend has only continued since Marvel Television was restructured and folded into Marvel Studios. The McU's Disney+ shows have been all over the board so far, with the added wrinkle that most of them are woven deeper into the tapestry of the franchise's greater mythology and, as such, are harder for the McU's movies to ignore -- as we saw when "The Marvels" had to...

Four years after “Bad Boys For Life,” Will Smith and Martin Lawrence have teamed again for “Bad Boys: Ride or Die.” Sony released the first trailer for the fourth film in the “Bad Boys” franchise on Tuesday, nearly two years to the day that Smith slapped Chris Rock during the 2022 Oscars before Smith later won Best Actor.
Set for release in June, “Bad Boys 4” finds its title heroes embroiled in a conspiracy that leaves them as fugitives from justice following the death of their beloved leader, Captain Howard (Joe Pantoliano). The new film comes from directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah (credited simply as Adil & Bilall), the duo behind “Bad Boys For Life” who have also directed episodes of “Ms. Marvel” and “Snowfall.” In addition to Smith, Lawrence, and Pantoliano, the new film also stars Tiffany Haddish, Eric Dane, Ioan Guffudd, Vanessa Hudgens, and Alexander Ludwig.

The Oscar for Best Original Score is an odd below-the-line category line-up. It includes one of the most nominated artists of all time; a recent winner; a couple of newcomers; and a late, great rock pioneer receiving his very first nomination. If all five of these composers were sat down at the same table, what on earth would they talk about? Music, obviously.
“American Fiction”
Laura Karpman
Karpman has mainly been scoring Marvel series like “Ms. Marvel” and “What If…?” as well as Nia Da Costa‘s feature film “The Marvels” as of late, but she’s an incredibly prolific composer who has been scoring television, films and even video games since the early ’90s. She has also been nominated for eight Primetime Emmys, winning one for “Why We Hate” in 2020. The Marvels starring Brie Larson, Iman Vellani, and Teyonah Parris, was a massive disappointment at the box office. The highly anticipated film that was touted to be the embodiment of feminine power, ended up being a damp squib with fans and critics brutally panning the narrative. This was an unfortunate result after the first film achieved success at the box office.
The Marvels is the 2nd film in the Captain Marvel series
With the dubious distinction of having the lowest opening weekend of any MCU film, the desire to develop another Captain Marvel film with Larson was recently dashed to the ground following information from an inside source. Fans of the franchise believed that this decision was brought on by the hate targeted towards the Captain Marvel films by hardcore male fans who were unable to accept a kickass female superhero.

Are you ready to accept Wade Wilson as your Lord and Savior? We've come a long way from Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool getting his mouth sewn shut for reasons only "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" director Gavin Hood can fathom (and even he would probably just shrug if you asked him). Now, 15 years after the Merc with a Mouth made his inauspicious live-action debut, the character is officially joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe thanks to "Deadpool & Wolverine," a film that sees him reunited with his former costar Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. The latter had ostensibly hung up his claws for good after starring in James Mangold's elegiac "Logan," but the chance for a proper team-up with Reynolds (plus the opportunity to finally don Wolvie's fabled yellow super suit) was just too much for Jackman to pass on. That and Disney surely unloaded a dump truck's worth of money into his driveway.

New data from Ampere Analysis shows how valuable Black Friday promotions from streamers can be, and how more services should be using them.
Not all streaming services participate in Black Friday deal offers, but those that do are usually available at incredibly deep discounts. Max got in on the game in 2023, offering its ad-supported streaming tier for a 70% discount; instead of the $9.99-per-month standard price, Max was available for $2.99 per month for a period of six months. Data released by Ampere Analysis in December is demonstrating how successful that promotion was, and shows which streamers should consider offering Black Friday deals of their own.
Max gained 1.2 million subscribers thanks to its Black Friday offer. Ampere’s data shows that Black Friday subscribers were retained at a higher rate, as well. Hulu offers Black Friday discounts, but Disney+ and Prime Video stand out as a streamer that should consider its own Black Friday bargains.

U.S. director and producer Robert Rippberger, who recently wrapped sci-fi thriller “Renner” with Frankie Muniz, is headed to the European Film Market in Berlin to launch the sales unit of his banner Sie Films. Its slate will be fronted by his next project, the horror thriller “Monstrosity.”
“Monstrosity,” which is currently in pre-production, is a creature feature that Rippberger will produce and direct. To create its titular monsters, Rippberger recruited concept artist Aaron Sims, whose work includes “Stranger Things,” “Ready Player One” and “Wonder Woman 1984.” Production on the film is expected to kick off later this year in one of the Morgan International full-service special effects facilities in Europe. Writer Sabir Pirzada is producing “Monstrosity” alongside Rippberger.
“Monstrosity” opens on a young village boy who goes missing down a mine shaft. His father blames a strange family in the neighboring house, but of course far more is at play.

Disney+ and ESPN+ have dropped their password-sharing restrictions simultaneously, just days after Hulu did the same.
Disney’s password-sharing restrictions are continuing to trickle down to subscribers of its streaming services. First, it was Disney+ customers in Canada who saw rules against password sharing implemented in September of 2023; then earlier this week, Hulu subscribers in the United States began receiving notice that they too would be subject to new guidelines for not sharing their accounts. Now, rules against sharing passwords are officially in effect for American subscribers of both Disney+ and ESPN+.
Rules against sharing passwords will take effect on March 14 for current Disney+ and ESPN+ subscribers in the United States. The updated user agreement for those two streamers is identical to the new agreement Hulu notified customers of earlier this week. Delays in implementing password-sharing rules in the United States were likely in the name of testing restrictions in Canada first.

The new ‘Gateway Shop’ format will purportedly offer Disney a way to reach customers with ads without interrupting their watching.
Streaming has offered a number of innovations to its customers over the years. The ability to watch video on demand was a revelation to many, especially those who didn’t grow up with cable. Watching content without ads was another new feature of streaming, and though ads have made their way onto essentially every streaming platform nowadays, that partially means there are more opportunities for streaming providers to innovate the way they deliver ads. At this week’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Disney announced just such an innovation.
Disney is launching a limited beta test of a new ad format it calls “Gateway Shop.” This format will deliver ads to user’s phones or emails while they stream Disney content, so as not to interrupt their viewing.

Disney first agreed to allow Spectrum TV customers access to Disney+ at no additional cost in September.
It was a risky gambit by Charter Communications to look Disney in the eye and tell them it would not air their channels at the demanded price unless it got free access to Disney+ for its customers included in the deal. But Disney ultimately blinked in the stare down that ensured, and on Thursday Charter announced that its Spectrum TV Select customers could officially begin signing up for their new Disney+ accounts.
Spectrum TV Select users can now sign up for Disney+ Basic as part of their cable plan. Disney and Charter agreed to a new carriage deal in September that granted Spectrum TV Select subscribers Disney+ access in exchange for higher fees to carry Disney-owned channels. The deal could lead to a wider integration of streaming plans with cable providers. Sign Up Now $7.99+ / month disneyplus.

Lucasfilm chief Kathleen Kennedy is once again in the line of Twitter fire after a recent interview by director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy on her upcoming “Star Wars” film. But Daily Wire cofounder Ben Shapiro’s attempt to chime in on the dunking has led to some sharp retorts.
In a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), Shapiro called Kennedy the “worst entertainment executive I’ve ever seen in my lifetime” in response to comments made by Obaid-Chinoy, an Oscar and Emmy-winning director who shot the Pakistan-set episodes of “Ms. Marvel” and who is attached to direct an upcoming “Star Wars” film that will see Daisy Ridley return as sequel trilogy protagonist Rey.
“I’m very thrilled about the project because I feel what we’re about to create is something very special,” Obaid-Chinoy told CNN. “We’re in 2024 now, and it’s about time that we had a woman come...
