Earp on the advice of the Judge has resorted to using sanitary laws to close crooked saloons. Ben Thompson gets the okay from Earp to open his own saloon. Feeling he owes a debt to Earp for not killing him and his brother Bill, Ben declares Earp to be a friend which does not set well with the other saloon operators and many of the men/patrons in Wichita. A girl, Lolita, working for Ben complains to Earp about another girl. Earp tells Ben to handle it but he forgets. After catching Ben and his men wearing guns, Earp arrests them but asks Ben to not act friendly toward him in court. Ben warns Earp a young cowboy is after him but Earp ignores it but Ben wounds the cowboy saving Earp. Earp arrests Ben again but the Judge lets Ben off for saving Earp. Lolita stabs the other girl so Earp arrests her. She tells the Judge that Ben and Earp are friends. The Judge realizes Earp and Ben's friendship causes problems so he suggests Ben should leave town. Earp tells Ben who in turn tells Earp the other saloon owners have hired two men to ambush Earp on the way to church. Earp ignores the warning but Ben and his men kill the men before they fire saving Earp as Ben leaves town.
