Excellent

Other than the S10 version which was a clunker, 'Modern Family' do Halloween episodes well, and this is no exception.

Full of heart and humour, this episode proved that when it is on top form, 'Modern Family' is still up there with the best of TV.

Call me Phil Bates

Warning: Spoilers
The final season of Modern Family is a beautiful good-bye. Instead of trying to add too many new storylines, they rather conclude them here.

We see the end of Alex's and Luke's relationship (both for rather hilarious reasons). We see a reversal of the time Jay felt old in a Halloween episode and was cheered up by a drag queen (this time, it's Gloria who is oblivious and Jay who points out not to let her know because she "needs this", going full circle).

Mitch and Cam not being able to understand Lily or help her is nice in a way too. Nice, because it shows that sometimes all they can do is be there.

But the best storyline for me is the beautiful parody of "Psycho", including Phil as Norman Bates and Claire as his victim. Unfortunately for Phil, the result may be more than what he hoped for^^...

It was somewhere funny buy somewhere too much of planning which didn't make sense.

Brilliant !!! Exactly what I wanted for the last Halloween episode

This episode had loads of tricks and treats and awesome twists and turns. It was hilarious and it hit the feels a little too. Claire and Phil were especially great in this and I love that Phil just can't scare Claire. Cam and Mitch had great costumes and whilst at a Halloween festival they realise Lily is at an unsupervised party (the end of this plot really makes me love Cam and Mitchell's bond with Lily). I'm happy Manny and Jay had some father son bonding whilst searching for a candy bar and I liked that Gloria's most dreaded fear happened. I really did like the section with Luke and Alex on dates at the same restaurant. It was nice to see them comfort each other.

Perfect last Halloween episode. I couldn't wish for more.

I didn't get spooked.

First five minutes of each subplot were good. It then became fairly lame. It's a real shame as the Halloween episodes were very good each year. As the family fractures and the children grow up it no longer feels like anyone cares., certainly not the writers. The fable at the end of each get more cloying and deliberate. It is like Friends or BBT in the sentimental delivery. I can only guess that it's doing so to tie ends up. Halloweenie I'm afraid!
