I honestly say that the first I heard of this show I thought the premise was too simple and too recurrent. However I seem to find myself waiting impatiently for each episode and what is inspector Barlek going to pull this time!

The main character was what surprised me the most though. Inspector Barlek seemed just another pretty face on TV. However I can now see that I was terribly wrong: it is a great character and is portrayed by a very good actor; the changes between whimsical smiles and disturbing stares are... well disturbingly good!

So watch it, it's worth it and you might learn a thing or two!

There's nothing bad to say

This is the kind of series you start and never stop watching. While waiting for the next episode, you watch the previous ones over and over again with the same excitement like it's for the first time. From the very beginning to the end it has it's viewers sitting on the edge waiting for the next plot twist while enjoying original camerawork and intriguing acting skills.

The misunderstood concept of Cuvari zakona

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Cuvari zakona. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Barlek's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realise that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Cuvari zakona truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Barlek's existential catchphrase "Picka mu materina," which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Lovro Feges's genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools.. how I pity them. 😂

And yes, by the way, i DO have a Cuvari zakona tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand.
