Extremely addictive thriller
AnnerHant6 March 2022
A rather interesting series that enters deeply into the subject from the first episodes.

I couldn't say if I adored or just liked the series, but it was frankly interesting to follow. The script is well written and I found that the cast played competently for most scenes. I also found the cast really diversified and well chosen.

Although the storyline and the idea of revenge is greatly interesting, I thought that some episodes dive too deeply into this subject, to the point that some characters make rash and absurd decisions, especially knowing that they've been judges since several years and that they know the legal system. A simple example to demonstrate what I just said is that they repeatedly hide to the police some evidence that could arrest the main criminals, because they want to do the operation their own way. I would also add that a few scenes were predictable, but not as much as some people have said.

In the end, Les Honorables is an intense and addictive series that was brilliantly written. We fully feel what the Dessureaux are going through and we can only have empathy for them. I would totally recommend it if you're willing to give it a bit of time to truly develop itself, wether it's for the characters or the story.

Interesting storyline, very good acting and character development. Holds your interest and characters you care about, wondering how it all and they will end up.

Not just continuity. The number of times the two Judges and Daughter lawyer know nothing about law that is known by everybody on the planet, is unbearable. I had to leave this series a few times, and then return to it. Raphaël an experienced killer, is made to look like an infant at times. This could be bad coaching or just poor acting. Contrived scenes aside, The brother (of Ludovic) is far too good an actor to be cast in this series. The second season is even worse.

Dark comedy

Addictive provided you can accept that the characters have spent their lives studying the law yet forget everything they learned as soon as it applies to them. I guess that's part of it, but since of it is just lazy writing,, yet it was still fun to watch.

Continuity missing

If there was ever a program that needed a continuity coordinator, this is the one. Also, the script is a bit over the top. Judges would not hold such biases knowing the scant evidence.

I was amazed at the instant connection you feel with the family! This show keeps you on edge and holding your breath to l for what comes next. Great ending to season 1 and I pray there will be a season 2!

Worth watching

Very decent production in my humble opinion. For those who are willing to sit through a series that moves at a moderate pace, giving time for character development, this is a pretty decent watch. I was engaged throughout. But I will admit, it's strange family fighting the cliche unbalanced brat-man who's been turned away and who, by the way, comes from a weird family.

The actors played their parts quite well.

Thought, in this time of very few choices, the fact that I gave this a 7 instead of a more solid 6, is telling.

Still, it was worth the time in a space I needed to fill.

Farfetched silliness
steven-22218 May 2021
Potentially interesting vigilante revenge story quickly becomes a bore, as the characters do and say ridiculous things, and the plot spins off on totally unbelievable tangents. It does not help that much of the acting is pretty awful.

I'd Like to Give this a Minus Score
sandhan-5207228 May 2021
I have no idea why I actually watched this right to the end of 10 episodes but perhaps I hoped it would improve at some point.

I'm amazed that some people gave this a 5 star rating and thought it was brilliant... I should've read the other reviews first I guess!

Long and drawn out.. utterly predictable plot, miserable acting and a total waste of time.. and that's being kind!

I saw there's a season 2 in the pipeline... God help us!

Directors Cut
nstufftuff6 August 2022
Sudden Tourettes moments from Alicia and Raphaël are interspersed with incredibly childish petulence. This from a Lawyer and an experienced killer.

It is quite apparent the Director is constantly hounded by the cast for more "star" time as scenes are contrived to satisfy each. We have Ludovic in a life threatening situation, followed by his wife likewise. More time and effort on the story line instead of pandering to individuals would have improved this series.

Ridiculous premiss, absurd execution
laduqesa5 March 2022
A family of lawyers and supreme court judges is shown to have feet of clay in this series which had, potentially, so much going for it. Not only were the legal eagles wanting in morality, but other family members were dangerous hoodlums and the initial victim had legal problems of her own. It hardly rings true. Not only in the way the supposed upholders of the law were shown to take to the dark side with alacrity, but how the hoodlums had a well-honed murder operation seemingly unknown to the cops.

The perp was an unattractive drug dealer protected by a crime boss. That he managed to seduce various attractive young women didn't bear thinking about. From the initial murder, his actions, which started spontaneously, became more and more unhinged until the ludicrous final couple of episodes in which family members rescue a kidnap victim without involving the cops who seem oblivious to the usage of illegal weapons and and whose forensic department and coroner fail to notice suffocation.

Did I say that the perp started behaving irrationally? The members of the family who were pillars of society were even worse. They took unexplained decision and actions one after the other, totally at odds with their histories as upholders of the law. All the while, the deviant half of the family were busy bumping off opponents and advising on how to do hits to their relatives.

The family was flummoxed by the totally transparent tricks of the perp that I saw immediately. That people with such fine minds both legal and criminal could have been fooled by such stupid smokescreens was not on the cards.

I admit it, I watched it all. It's one of those series where one says to oneself, "how much worse can this get"? Heaven help us, I read that a second season is on its way. I don't think I'll be watching it.

Terrible
qui_j13 December 2022
Only managed the first episode, but it was enough to realize that the series was poorly written and produced. The episode begins by dropping the viewer into some kind of preexisting situation in which a multitude of characters are involved, but no context is provided as to who any of them might be. Conversations are short and terse so little background is provided to help viewers understand the narrative. The editing is choppy as it moves between timelines and events, some of which have little relevance to the main plot. It takes too much work to try and bridge the gaps created by the poorly written script. Stopped watching as it did not hold my interest.
