Good story - although not true to the real story
ak20202 February 2021
As a dramatic story, this episode was really entertaining - but it veered from the real story (check online). This shouldn't spoil your enjoyment.

One real goof however, whilst in Paris (in a French car, Alain is driving sitting on the right side, when it should be left). I noticed another car with right hand drive also. So, just where was it filmed?

Warning: Spoilers
Episode 7: This is a dramatized complex pack based on real events. Who in his/her right mind cares if the show doesn't completely stick to the truth, IF all viewers wanna watch is a gripping story artfully told.

This is a thrilling "based-on" show, shading lights on real events happened almost 50 years ago.

The episode was very well done as always, though, relational to itself, the way the two roam freely across Paris and back to southern countries is not realistic. The mother deceitful "awaiting" behavior is also not realistic, while she could do so much more if she wanted to.

Monique starting to look as if she has a boulder on her chest at all times (... months later and earlier alike), eyes popping out, mouth half-open, gasping for air...

The next and final episode needs to smoothly clarify and shape the remaining drops to the story and put a definite end to Charles "Alain Gautier" for good.

Warning: Spoilers
I have been critical of The Serpent because at eight parts it has been flabby although stylishly made.

Once again Herman is at a low ebb, always been knocked back by various police authorities around the world.

By contrast Charles Sobhraj is showing Marie-Andrée Leclerc a good time in Paris as well as his mother.

His mother knows her son well, he is just like his dad and she tells Marie some home truths about Charles.

The penultimate episode sees Herman taking a chance that could spell the end of his diplomatic career. It does least make the Thai authorities to finally take some action.

I know the truth is more murkier and weirder. At least Charles seems to be on the run but in reality it still took a while for justice to catch up with him.
