Nice throwback to the season 5 episode "vegas". A series of misunderstanding while each of the characters are using Alex's luxury accommodation for their own good. All of the plotlines are glued together brilliantly and the butler Higgings is really icing on the cake.

This is the Modern Family we wanted

I started this episode without any expectations because this whole season was nothing but total disappointment. It was very painful to watch such a good show going so bad. After long time I laughed well. Great cameos. This really takes back to the "The Las Vegas episode". This is was not the best of modern family but compare to the recent episodes, this one feels refreshing. I hope upcoming episodes brings us more laughter and joy. Thank you.

A masterpiece

I can't believe the flak this episode is getting!
I don't care - I thought this was an amazing episode, an example of this show at its absolute best.
I will severely miss the characters, the actors who play them, and the show in general, which for 11 years had higher quality writing in a typical episode than some shows have in their entire run.

A classic caper episode

The misunderstandings, the guest stars, the story and the hilarious moments were all good but the glue that hold this episode together was the butler Higgins (portrayed brilliantly by Stephen Merchant). I'm really happy that Alex left her job in Antarctica and now has the job of her dreams.
This episode was truly brilliant. Just watch it and you'll see.

Modern Family at its best

Even tho Modern Family had its lows, this last season have been amazing. This episode in particular was one of the funniest of the whole show!
Really good to see this show ending in high standards.
The only downside was that I missed Hailey, Joe and Lily.

Hey, Stephen Merchant!

Stephen is great as always, but this show has become so hard to watch, I'm actually embarrassed for the writers... but not for the actors, they look more tired of these endless misunderstanding shtick plots than we are.
Please, put this show out of its misery already.
Best episode ever

By far the most hilarious episode ever . Best use of mis direction and the brought back the British Conciege from a previous episode at a hotel. Cant remember his name but neither could the characters as they continuously said haven't we met before . I could see this 10 times amd still get a laugh out of it.
LOL!

Great episode, Even better If you've seen Vegas
matheusvbarbosa9 March 2021
I'm loving the call backs to earlier seasons and this episode is clearly a call back to to the episode Vegas (S5E18), which is one of the best episodes of the series btw, they even had Higgins return as the buter, which was a really nice touch (especially If you're a viewer like me who loves the attention to detail). It was also really cool to see Courtney Cox and David Beckham make a cameo (especially If you like Friends and soccer like me) and even though Vegas was a much better/funnier episode than this one, I still had a lot of fun and laughed out loud quite a lot during this episode. For me, it's the best one of the season so far.
Love the butler!

So glad the butler returned for the final season. The 'as you wish' when things gets confused is hysterical. However it does feel like the majority of episodes now are a series of confusions where everyone then figures it out all together at the end. Very 'Threes Conpany" esque.
All hail Stephen Merchant.

Were there any jokes in this?

Believe me, I am NOT a hater. I (used to) LOVE this show and I really want it to be good. I was actually really looking forward to this episode and wanted it to be good. But it wasn't. No laughs, just cringe. So sad.
One of the best in a while

The show had IMO gotten a little lazy with the writing in the last few years. This episode was like a zany Scooby Doo episode mixed with a little La Cage aux Follies and Noises Off for spice. And it had the single best line in years, about how Phil's blogger name rhymes on paper. Yes, some of the predicament resolutions can be seen coming from a mile away, but getting there is quite entertaining. Disagree with my colleague as to the success of the episode but agree fully that Stephen Merchant held it all together.
Loved the episode just because of Courteney Cox

Clever but contrived
tct2510 January 2020
Modern Family is, as we all know now, on its last legs. "The Prescott" was further evidence of this, though the intricate interweaving of the family's various story lines made for some laughs. Overall it was rather predictable and contrived. The cameos fell flat, I thought, if for no other reason than... why are they in this? Steve Merchant as the obsequious butler pushed all credibility until the final scene of the episode (no spoilers) which made up for it. I do yearn for the quality writing from Seasons 1 through 4 or so.
What did I just watch??

Classic example of a show jumping the shark! This episode was cringeworthy and it's hard to think of anything I've watched that was this bad. No laugh out loud moments and tried too hard which failed. Complete contrast to earlier seasons, this show needs to end NOW!
An episode that Modern Family can do in its sleep (and I don't mean that in a good way)

Alex's corporate job gets her access to a posh, high-end hotel which her family uses as an opportunity to sponge off her and get access to the hotel's luxurious amenities, which are all comedically tended to by a single concierge, as played by Stephen Merchant.
Claire wants to get her hair-dressed. Phil goes on a Quest for a slider with his side-job as food blogger. Jay wants to use the hotel's screening room to watch Lawrence of Arabia (Excellent idea). Manny and Luke are on the prowl. Gloria wants to ride the hotel's waterslide. Mitch wants to meet Victoria Beckham. Rinse, repeat.
This would be more endearing if all these people were poor and couldn't afford to upgrade their iPhones every year, let alone buy new high-end cars. However, when these people do it, you get the impression that they're too cheap to the pay $200/night, which they absolutely can afford.
As per usual, everyone thrives in this toxic family, where hedonism and personal gain is favored over decency, i.e Claire FaceTimes Alex for the sole purpose of using her daughter for facial recognition purposes for the salon or Mitch and Cameron flaunting their manipulative, non-commutative relationship and then guilting the other for it.
The status quo is the bread and butter on all sitcoms, characters aging but staying personally stagnant, but for Modern Family its to their increasing detriment. If you're ELEVEN(!)(?) seasons in and you're still amused by heightened comedic misunderstandings, misinterpreted double speak, our characters almost encountering each other, then go for it. Otherwise, you don't need to even bother.
This show is a zombified, creative dead zone at this point. David Beckham and Courtney Cox cameo for bowling tournament held in the hotel, which is labored creatively as it was for them to lend verisimilitude to their line deliveries.
It's all frankly exhausting and further proof that this show should have ended four to five seasons ago, when people were still aware it was still airing...

Warning: Spoilers
Is this what this shows been reduced to? Some slapstick, silly comedy of errors which are yet so predictable. Was there anyone who watched this episode and couldn't predict exactly what would happen next. Why has Sofia Vergara suddenly forgotten how to act? And Courtney Cox and Beckham were so out of me place in this episode. It was strange. Overall a strange episode.
Like his previous appearance on the show the concierge was lovely and charming. So the one star is for him.
Not good.
