"Long Shot" felt a little unfinished, as if somebody wasn't willing to go all out because they didn't know if Major Crimes would be picked up. It wasn't a bad episode, or even sub-par, I just wanted more from one of my new favorites before I was forced to deal with it heading into hiatus.
To quote an actual phrase I heard at the office today, which I thought was only a myth, that's all I'll say about that.
Once I got into the case, I tried to be smarter than the show in determining why the sniper kicked off the side mirror. I was so sure I had it sussed out. He didn't want his face to be recognized in surveillance video through the reflection. Yeah, not so much!
I hope police would, a) not give a random dude lisence plate information so quickly and b) take the time...

David Arquette wants to save his marriage to estranged wife Courteney Cox. The "Scream 4" actor, whose separation from the former "Friends" star was announced last October, says he is still in love with Courteney and is keen for them to sort out their problems and move forward with their relationship, but only if she wants to.
David, who has a six-year-old daughter, Coco, with the 46-year-old actress, said, "I'd love for it to work out. We truly love each other with all our hearts. Whether it's as friends or as husband and wife, I know that I'll be with her my whole life."
"I want her to be happy. If me being the best person I can be doesn't make her happy in a partner, in who she needs, whatever she's looking for, that's still to be answered. She's my best friend, and I love her with all my heart.

David Arquette feared his wife Courteney Cox was cheating on him as their 11-year marriage began to fall apart last summer, June 2010.
The estranged couple were separated for months before news leaked about the break-up, but actor Arquette can still clearly remember how his wife fell into a deep depression after hinting the marriage was over.
In a candid TV interview with Oprah Winfrey, which aired in America on Thursday, February 24, Arquette revealed he felt sure Cox had found another man. He explained, "She said, 'I don't want to be your mother anymore'... (and then) she came down (stairs) really depressed one day, and was like, 'I'm really just not happy'. I felt really sort of abandoned at that point. A deal is a deal... I was angry with... the dynamic of our relationship. I was angry with my wife.
He adds, "And there were tabloid stories coming out about...

"And there were tabloid stories coming out about her and someone on her (TV) show (Cougar Town) having, you know, an affair... I thought she was having an affair with someone."
The couple is still working on their relationship in an effort to save the marriage and Arquette recently completed a 28-day rehab stint to help him battle alcohol and marijuana issues.
He admits counselling has helped him come to terms with the bad person he had become, spending his married life in the shadow of a much richer, much more famous partner: "I was sort of always in her shadow. And I'd held all this bitterness."
But he's not sure the marriage can be saved: "I love Courteney... I want us to be the best people we can be, and then, if it's together, I want her to be happy, and if me even being the best person I can be doesn't make her happy in a partner... that's still to be answered.
"I know that I'll be with her for my whole life. And we have an amazing family together and we're really great parents together."...

The only thing that could have made David Arquette’s sit-down with Oprah Winfrey seem like even more of a success would be Charlie Sheen calling into another radio show on the day it aired. (Oh wait, Sheen did.) As Arquette joked to Winfrey, you have your breakdown on Howard Stern, then you come back together on Oprah — and it appears he has. Arquette taped the interview a little over two weeks after completing a 28-day rehab program for alcohol addiction. He was honest and more serious than most of us have ever seen him as he discussed his public...

Certainly not the first film to wring comedy out of suicide, Three and Out starts promisingly - perpetual sadsack London tube driver and occasional writer Paul Callow (Mackenzie Crook, best known to Us audiences as Ragetti from the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy) has racked up a dual accident count on the tracks in under a month. The distraught Paul is then enlightened by his co-workers to the “three and out” rule - that is, hitting three people in a month opens doors to a payload that would finally let Paul leave his cramped, book-ridden London flat. Paul sets off on a brief montage scored to Blondie’s “One Way Or Another” to find a willing soul to lay his life down on the tracks - and so it goes, in this obvious comedy that unsuspectingly drops in out-of-place moments of pensive drama and ends with a late third act twist that rings stomach-churningly false.

Here on the west coast, you have to wake up early if you want to watch the full slate of NFL games. Well, this is early for me at least.
9:03 Am
I gravitate toward Espn's NFL countdown for my pre-game viewing. When it comes to pre-game hype and post-game analysis, Chris Berman and Tom Jackson have become my multi-decade comfort food. I trust them to cover both conferences equally, and - although I have never given their pre-game shows a completely fair chance - I have a suspicion that CBS and Fox might show preference toward highlighting the games they are actually broadcasting.
9:15 Am
Sure, Espn, you can bring in George Stephanopoulos, but this political-nfl crossover faux election coverage to designate the midseason awards is rather strained. I am usually fairly good at spelling people's names, but I had to look up "Stephanopoulos" to be safe.

Paths Of Glory (Criterion) Stanley Kubrick’s 1957 antiwar classic put him on the map as a major filmmaker. Kirk Douglas stars in a true story about a French officer in Ww I who locks horns with the military’s top brass after his men are court-martialed for failing to carry out an obvious suicide mission. A perfect film, across the board, with fine support from George Macready as one of the most despicable martinet’s ever captured on film, Ralph Meeker, and Adolphe Menjou, all oily charm as a conniving General. Also available on Blu-ray disc. Bonuses: Audio commentary by critic Gary Giddins; Excerpt from 1966 audio interview with Kubrick; 1979 interview with Douglas; New interviews with Jan Harlan, Christiane Kubrick, and producer James B. Harris; French television documentary on real-life case which inspired the film; Trailer. Widescreen. Dolby 1.0 mono.
