Queer indeed

I only watch a handful of British programs but between Doc Martin and Midsomer Murders I'd say there's a lot of crazy people in the far-off towns of UK. Basically, this episode is about rumors and the way they spread like disease. Dave the postman sees the Doc coming out of Louisa's house early in the morning and spread the news all over town. By midday, the whole of Portwenn knew they are engaged. But apart from spreading news, Dave was also inadvertently spreading bronchial fungus. In this show, usually, particularly cooky rumors are just exaggerations of the truth. However, Pauline's seemingly outrageous tale about a disgraced scientist proved to be pretty close to the truth. I've also noticed that in series 3, the Doc has been saying 'Yes' to everything Louisa says. It's kind of uncharacteristic but I guess that's his version of being head-over-heels in love.

This town is full of nuts!

While I'd hardly say that "Doc Martin" is a realistic show in its depiction of small-town life in the UK, it is entertaining. Because of this you need to sometimes allow yourself to just accept what you're seeing without question. After all, could this many strange things happen in a place as small as Portwenn?! In this case, the happenings are REALLY strange--that's for sure!

When the show begins, folks learn that the Doc and Louisa are getting married--and word spreads very quickly. However, the focus of the show is much more on strange breathing difficulties that start overtaking many people--breathing problems that could kill unless they are stopped soon. But how is a weird fungal infection occurring?! And where is this fungus?! The answers to this are pretty weird--even for this show.

This is an enjoyable but odder than usual episode. Watch and you'll see what I mean.

Lots of Interesting Developments

Doc and Louisa are engaged and the whole town is getting into the act. As a viewer, I'm already apprehensive. We'll see. Other things that come into play are the fact that the Large Restaurant is barely afloat and there is some sort of infection spreading. It appears that it is possibly deadly. Mick and Al are at odds, former schoolmates who are working with Burt. The most interesting case is an elderly lady who has had a knee replacement. She is suffering from an infection in said knee. She lives with her sister who seems to be undermining her treatment. The woman was known as "The Black Widow" even though she never married.
