It's always refreshing to watch a well-made Adult movie like this Brad Armstrong feature for Wicked Pictures, demonstrating how traditional filmmaking (instead of gonzo) can deliver a sexy but also engrossing motion picture.
It stars Stormy Daniels, giving a fine performance in a bad girl role that manages to avoid mere femme fatale status but add some heart to a clearly criminal personality. She and mastermind Derrick Pierce are successful grifters, putting their current mark Marcus London through the ringer on the eve of his wedding.
Much of the action is predictable and lends itself to the usual porn tropes: chauvinist guys out on the town on the eve of Marcus's marriage to lovely August, with booze, strippers and hookers part of the package. But the second half of the show when Brad himself takes charge of helping Marcus out of his predicament becomes an involving murder mystery with its share of quality plot twists and an effective tidying up of loose ends during the final reels presided over by cop Randy Spears.
All-star actresses of the time are good in support roles. Functional, highly cynical screenplay by "John Stagg", referring to his real name John Stagliano, reveals a talent Buttman rarely used in his career as one of gonzo porn's chief instigators. A nice surprise is the setting of Marcus's home at the "Immoral Proposal" mansion, a very early use of the spiral-staircase building that has more recently served as the lavish site of thousands of Adult movies, still recognizable after a couple of renovations over the years.
