I thought this film was just going to be a nice behind the scenes look at Yellowstone National Park with cute animals, lots of majestic beauty and tips for travelers. However, it might just scare the crap out of you! This is because the focus often is on just how dangerous the place MIGHT be. First, they talk about all the underground volcanic activity and how it WILL eventually explode. Second, it talks about how bad forest fires can be. All this only in the first 10 minutes of the show!! My advice is that you should not let anyone watch this who is highly impressionable, as it might just make them terrified of going anywhere near the area--even as it later talks of deadly encounters between people and animals! This is rather sad, since it IS a very safe place to visit. I really think that at least on some level, National Geographic thinks scaring folks will increase viewership and wish the likelihood of death was put into context.
Now I am not saying it's a bad show or one to avoid. It does explain later that fires are actually GOOD and healthy for the forests. It also shows how firefighters manage the fires. So it's not all doom and gloom. And, it is very interesting from start to finish. Just try to keep things in some perspective here.
