57 minutes? You're kiddin' right? Felt like a 30-min episode.
marveller-6619 April 2022
The first episode guarantees this season's gonna be absolute peak! The most well-written show on TV. Bob & Tony, just take the Emmy!! I can't wait to see the return of Bryan & Aaron later in the season. Gonna watch that episode with watery eyes. HEISENBERG is coming!!!!!!!!!!!

Excellent Premiere !
tristan_1919 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Every scene involving Nacho is filled with tension. Jimmy and Kim hatch a plan in a scene that might be one of the best of the entire series, as Kevin Wachtell and Saul come face to face. We learn a little more about what the plan is, and our protagonists are trying to get to Cliff by planting cocaine in front of Howard's locker. Mike is still a stand up guy and ready to help Nacho, and Lalo talks to Hector and forms a plan of his own about finding proof against the chicken man. The DA even gets to shine and they are actually really smart, which I like. And Jimmy slips Lalo's name in front of them...

Overall, a really dynamic premiere that flows right into the second episode of the season. The cousins are here too and I got Breaking Bad Season 3 vibes, especially with the callback of people trying to get transported by hiding in the back of a truck. Also a phenomenal callback to 'Face Off' with Hector being told letters and ringing the bell to form words. Excellent start.

So Good to Have You Back Saul!
MamadNobari9719 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Finally, after two years of waiting, we get the last season's premiere of one of, if not the best show ever, and it's good as ever.

This great first episode practically showed every (alive) character and what they're doing after the mayhem of the last season's finale.

First of all, the opening scene was top-notch, one of the best opening of this show and any show in general with its great cinematography, which it's just a given with this masterpiece of a show.

We see Nacho on the run and the fact that we still don't know how his fate is going to be makes his scenes so much more tense and stressful and Better Call Saul is a master at making a scene tense.

Then we have our good boy lawyer Saul with Kim - or should I say Kim alone - plotting against Howard, which I feel pity for ever since it was revealed that that C word Chuck was forcing him to be an arse to Jimmy. He's not a saint or anything, but you still do feel bad for him a little.

I read a very interesting comment on Youtube which was really true and I'm paraphrasing here: One of the most unexpected twists of this show, is that we all thought Kim is going to be Jimmy's moral compass and when she eventually leaves him, he'll become Saul Goodman, which would've been very Daenerys like, but instead we see that now Kim has become more Slippin' than Jimmy himself and breaking bad side by side him, and it's so natural that won't notice. And this first episode is a testament to that.

It's really interesting to see that now Jimmy has his doubts and maybe doesn't wanna go through with it and Kim has become kinda cold and doesn't care anymore.

Also, the whole scene with Jimmy in the golf club was amazing and hilarious at the same time and it was fun figuring out just wtf he was doing while watching it.

And what they had set up in this episode is probably gonna have some major consequences for Howard, and I really hope he doesn't get in too much trouble because how can you hate this guy?

We also have Mike having a conversation with Gus about Nacho and that has a big effect on the relationship between Mike and Nacho, as we see in that scene of Mike with his granddaughter. Which makes it interesting to see what's gonna happen next between these two great characters.

We also have some scenes with Lalo which, do I even need to talk about them or Lalo himself? Every time this guy is on the screen he steals the show, so I don't think there's a need to talk about his great scenes.

All in all, this was a great opener to the last season and I'm looking forward to the next great episodes they're bringing us, even though I'm a little sad that there's a one-month hiatus between the two parts.

Great for the first episode of the season
Chef7419 April 2022
Usually the first few episodes of the season builds a story slowly. However this one is quickly building towards big stories. Kim and Slipping Jimmy quickly set their game up against Howard. Nacho, Gus, Hector, Lalo side of the story is with thrilling as always. Well it's difficult to write a review without spolilers. But I am even enduring the tons of commercials of live TV for the sake of Saul Goodman.

Lalo Salamanca Lives
xclbr19 April 2022
As much as I love the plot of Jimmy and Kim going after Howard with phony cocaine accusations to mess up his law practice, Lalo Salamanca is the real Masterpiece of this two-part introduction. It's wonderful how they give so much screen time to Mark Margolis, Hector Salamanca's expressions are Gold. Lalo going through the alphabet while Hector rang the bell was a priceless scene. I'm so afraid of what they're going to do to Kim and Nacho. Awesome season opener!

The Pieces are Moving
Adam-0926519 April 2022
Great opener, tension building and quiet. A build up for what's to come like the silence before a storm. This season's going to be great, characters are moving like pieces on a game board.

8.9/10.

More Saul
syncopatedrhythm19 April 2022
Pretty darn good 2 part opener. I really don't feel the hate for Hamlin for the lengths that Saul and Kim are going to, but it is entertaining. I kind of feel bad for him, he just is what he is, rich kid with a rich job. A little too much with the Cartel side of the story and not enough on Saul and Kim, especially considering we know the end results of the minor feud between Gus and the Salamanca's. Still well worth watching.

Not a single frame of the Better Call Saul Season 6 Trailer doesn't come from this episode.
drewclark-590119 April 2022
You know when a show has probably entirely lived up to the promise of its existence? When the trailer gives you absolutely no hint of what is to come beyond the first episode. Vince Gillian is an absolute genius and I cannot wait for everything that is to come.

One Last Ride

Warning: Spoilers
We are back baby!

After two long years of wait BCS doesn't disappoint and proves once again its the best television currently airing and when it ends it will aim for best shows ever made.

Let's go by parts. The opening sequence was visually breathtaking. It didn't tell us much about Gene as previous seasons but I suspect we'll get a full episode of him later in the season.

Going back to the present we leave right where we left off. Jimmy and Kim have a normal day. But jimmy is facing consequences of Lalo's disappearance that could probably have terrible consequences since he accidentally says his name accidentally and that could also lead to the "it wasn't me it was Ignacio" "Lalo did Lalo sent you" moment in breaking bad. Amazing performance by odenkirk who Can act without saying a word and he expresses all of his emtions. He's probably worried about Kim who is ultimately excited for the Scam against Howard. I think in the restaurant scene I think it perfectly depreciated their relationship Kim immediately wants to let the order flow but Jimmy isn't ready but she doesn't stop. This might lead into a very tough end of relationship. Nacho will be on the run from the Salamanca's and honestly doesn't look good for Nacho. I expect a lot of action with The Cousins (and I pray for Nacho to survive since he's one of my favorites form the show).everyone thinks lalo is dead but he is pretty much alive and going down to US for Gustavo. But Gustavo knows that lalo is alive since all the Hitmans are all dead. A big cartel war is ahead of us. Mike just goes with the flow of the other storylines and this season it's going to focus he's relationship with Nacho (if he makes it.

Very excited for the rest of the season and absolute masterpiece on directing and writing.

10/10.

Well, what can I say. It's back and it's as good as ever. Cinematography, music, acting, direction. The clearly aren't holding back on this season. I'm quite excited for the next episodes.

Welcome back Saul!
bosporan19 April 2022
Fabulous opening scene clearing away the future overblown opulence of Saul Goodman complete with golden toilet bowl metaphor. We get straight into current day action with things continuing directly from season five as something of a reorientation.

Some beautiful camera angles, a signature of this show, particularly the walking shadows and the child's tricycle.

A routine workmanlike opener.

Underwhelming
veltriv-25-6465603 May 2022
After such a long wait, was expecting a season premiere that would pull me right in. Everything just felt like the previous seasons recycled, nothing new happening, no new interesting characters. They kind of blew it.

Slow, but worth the wait.
kikezapatagamer19 April 2022
Good episode, it has almost everything you want. It's kinda slow, it has good acting, tension, horror, and a little slice of action. I'll give it a 9/10, my personal opinion.

The Wake
Hitchcoc22 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
First we have the dismantling of a mansion, expensive trinkets and works of art. Done in deliberate slow motion and in the future, it leads to the transition into the story's continuation. Nacho is on the run. Lalo is alive and loaded for bear. His dear family members have been killed off by Gus and the gang, but he lives. The cousins are beating the bushes. Meanwhile, Jimmy and Kim are working on destroying Howard. Kim is determined to destroy the smug lawyer that she feels wronged her. Jimmy really has other fish to fry, but he loves her and orchestrates some interesting methods for crucifying him. He plants cocaine in the guy's locker at the country club. He makes a huge fuss, accusing them of being racist and ant-semitic. Where will these two elements converge?

Saul is the Wine, Kim are the Roses
hotrobinproductions18 April 2022
Amazing start to an amazing show. It's so beautiful to see how far this show has come. Everything leading up to this. The black & white opening wrapping everything up a bit more TIGHT and just watching this episode as a whole was amazing. The theme playing after the starting scene just brings back memories back when I watched Uno for the first time in 2015. With that being said this show turns up the nob a lot more, I feel it's on maximum overdrive from here on out, everyone's fates are going to be at stake, Saul and Kim's journey seems to be evolving a lot in this episode as well, obviously there are a few characters that we know what will happen with, but in this story before breaking bad we don't.... Even if we do know their story in the breaking bad universe.

One word: Top-notch
sreeharivenat19 April 2022
It's always delightful when a premiere crew gives their work so much hype and audience gets justice. This very episode has me thinking that this 6th season will be something bamboozling. The duration is 59 minutes and I didn't even feel a little tedious the whole time. The story arc and dialogues were way better than I expected. Props to the all the actors especially Tony Dalton for keeping us on the hook playing the ferocious and charismatic LALO SALAMANCA. I bet this season is gonna be much scary and intense than the other 5. Beware Breaking Bad, because I think your prequel show is going to eat your ratings for lunch 😈.

Easily one of my favorite episodes and very good at building tension
wallaceb211119 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
At first, I was upset about not getting a gene scene for season 6 but the actual cold open was so much better!

We finally see what Saul Goodman's house looks like as of 2010 and it has a clear absence of Kim Wexler and many items shown in the house display how different of a man Saul is in breaking bad. Saul in breaking bad comes off as a a man that would never be able to form a lasting relationship, so it makes sense that Kim is gone from his life at this point. But the ending of the Cold Open is a zoom on the Zafiro Anejo which has been a metaphor for their relationship since their con in 2x01.

Kim and Jimmy also bond over potentially ruining a man's career in this episode and interestingly Kim is the one that is more involved in conning Howard than Jimmy at this point. Jimmy's break-in to the country club and rant about anti-Semitism is very in character and entertaining. I also thought the banter between Howard and Cliff Main about the planted cocaine was hilarious.

Lalo was scary as usual because of his charismatic persona. You never know whether he is going to kill you or act super friendly. His conversation with hector sets up the Hector-Gus conflict in breaking bad after Lalo likely dies and adds extra tension for Nacho.

Nacho was surprisingly being helped by Gus in this episode but very minorly. Mike not picking up Nacho's call shows that Mike values loyalty to Gus more than his friendship for Nacho which also leads perfectly into breaking bad where he does not question Gus even after the death of Victor.

For an opening episode that was only building suspense, it was a masterfully made one. This quality of writing during the climax of the series might even beat Breaking Bad's impeccable finale.

Stop lecturing about posting early reviews, its annoying. Anyway I agree with the "early reviews" great premiere episodes, no doubt worth the 9/10 ratings received.

A pretty good start

Warning: Spoilers
Lalo is the best villain so far. The landscape around the border looks fantastic. Lalo plays dead and goes to get the "evidence" that the chicken man ordered the hit as Salamanca wanted him to do so. Jim and Kim keeps trying to destroy Howard. And I hope Nacho manages to stay alive until Mike picks him up.

not one of the better ones!
mm-3926 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Wine and Roses is not one of the better episodes! And I will tell you why. Wine and Roses is a filler episode, which builds on previous episodes. Regrettably due to Covid Better Call Saul was not made for a few years so myself and probably others forgot lots of the previous material. Why is Saul meeting with that Tax couple, and what was the case again? I felt like I was the wrong disk a few shows ahead. There should of been a refresher like with part 2 movies so the viewer can keep up with the recurring story line. Some of the side stories came back to me. Watch the pervious season before Wine and Roses. The Nacho part I started to remember. The better of the two stories for Wine and Roses. Wine and Roses is a slow burn, and I slowly got up to speed. Well directed and acted, but the gap between season got me a bit lost. Not a bad episode, but a must watch or you be even more lost as the season progresses. I have to watch Wine and Rose again! Or watch last year final. 6 stars, but more me then the show! Just okay.

What the hell has happened to Hollywood? This director is terrible. Apparently they thought it would be a great idea to record some bonehead boring 5 minute slow-motion furniture scene.
