A dramatic opening scene which sees the welcome reintroduction of Amanda Burton reprising her role as Sam Ryan. This beefs up the cast significantly following a few weaker seasons.
The plotline is routine, centred around the thorny topic of data privacy. Unfortunately this occasionally descends into unnecessary expository polemic rather than focussing on solving the crime of the week. The core team are good actors and play well together, but some of the supporting characters are weak, especially law-enforcement types who are condescendingly portrayed as stupid, arrogant and bigoted.
Overall a decent start with promise for the season.
