Fashion and family conflicts
TheLittleSongbird6 November 2020
The story ideas for both "Run Run Runway" and "I Scream, You Scream" were great ('Phineas and Ferb' was always very good when it came to story ideas even when following a formula), especially for the latter. It is always great when the fashion industry is lampooned, while it was interesting in the latter episode to have two characters (Candace and the newly introduced Vanessa) simultaneously having family conflicts revolving around getting certain family members busted.

Both "Run Run Runway" and "I Scream, You Scream" do them justice, really hate potential wastes and thankfully neither episode wasted their great ideas which was appreciated. "Run Run Runway" is very good on the whole, though the second half is a good deal better than the first. "I Scream, You Scream" however is brilliant and for me it is a 'Phineas and Ferb' high point, both of the early episodes (which are on the whole better than the later ones) and overall.

"Run Run Runway" has a bit of a sedate start, where there could have been more energy and laughs and a little less of the fashions. Once it gets going, there is a lot more momentum and a great job is done making a repeated basic formula feel fresh because of how cleverly it lampoons the fashion industry in a way that's witty, smart and knowing. The fashion industry portrayal is entertaining and insightful, the fashions are a lot of fun to watch and there are enough funny lines to satisfy. Gaston a La Mode is a wonderfully flamboyant character and the final gag is quite brilliant.

It didn't matter to me at all that the best moments in "I Scream, You Scream" actually didn't come from Phineas and Ferb, though their plan is very clever and boasts some typically smart lines. Absolutely loved everything to do with Candace and Vanessa, their conflicts were both funny and oddly relatable and Vanessa has great chemistry with Doofenschmirtz too. The episode is also well worth seeing, well a must actually, for the song "Busted", one of my favourite 'Phineas and Ferb' songs ever with an infectious melody and very well written lyrics. Ashley Tisdale and Olivia Olson blend so beautifully together as well.

Animation in both episodes is typically vibrant and beautifully detailed and equally so rather than one faring over the other in this regard. The music is dynamic and infectious and as said "Busted" is a fantastic song. The writing is accessible, smart and very funny, especially in "I Scream, You Scream" and there is plenty of energy (without being too manic) apart from "Run Run Runway's" slow start.

Characters are all on top form, especially Candace in both episodes, and the voice acting is on point, Ashley Tisdale's is some of her best.

Summing up, great. 9/10

"Run Away Runway"

Another pretty funny episode. Most of the jokes are funny and P&F's big idea is creative and very odd considering the fact that it took the world by storm in just a minute. As for Isabella, as a kid, I never noticed how much flirting she does in here. I LOVE IT. It's cute, funny and quite relatable. I hope that this continues in the next episodes and if it does, I probably didn't notice them either as a kid. Her crush was obvious is some episodes which made me a Phinabella fan BUT I did not notice some of these flirting scenes. As for Doofenshmirtz, his scenes were okay. It could've been more funny.

"I Scream, You Scream"

One of the series' best episodes. I really love the innocence of the gang. The fact that they made something for Isabella is really nice. The plot involving Candace and Vanessa is very funny. BUSTED is one of the series' top songs and Ashely Tisdale and Olivia Olson are 2 of the best singers in the show.

When I first saw this episode as a kid, I've always shipped Phinabella. It's my favorite loveteam. I know that people love Canderemy but I think Ferb-nessa is the show's second best loveteam. I always like Vanessa and Ferb's character. I know they'd make a cute couple (when they're older). Also, it's a bonus if you knew that they're voice actors, Olivia Olson and Thomas Sangster, were the kids in the romantic film, "Love Actually." In a weird way, this show is a continuation of that love story.
