Danny Reagan and Maria Baez are the constant pain in Blue Bloods fans’ bottoms: for way too long, we’ve been waiting for the two to get together, and they just keep circling around the topic. Most fans agree that, since the show is coming to a closure, the notorious couple will get their happy ending — but apparently, Blue Bloods showrunners have other plans in mind…
Or so they say, because we’re very much not buying it.
Blue Bloods Boss Denies Daez Endgame
Danny and Baez have been the talk of the town for several years now, and the bittersweet Blue Bloods finale seems like the perfect opportunity to bring them together. That’s what fans think, anyway, because the series’ showrunner Kevin Wade recently sat down with TV Insider only to stomp on those dreams and hopes.

It’s always hard to say goodbye to the ones that have been with you through your ups and downs. And it also works in another way: when you have to let go of the characters of a long-running show whose characters became like friends to you.
One such show is Blue Bloods, one of the longest running police procedurals that has managed to keep millions of fans around the world in the lives of the Reagan family, with Frank Reagan, played by the one and only Tom Selleck, as the head of the family.
Now that the rumor of the show's cancellation has been confirmed, fans are worried that they will miss the charismatic actor with the legendary mustache. But don't worry, there are plenty of shows you can watch with old-school Selleck in them.
Here are 4 must-see shows that featured the actor long before he created the Frank Reagan legacy.

How do the makers of Bridgerton keep a fandom as dedicated as theirs guessing? How does the Netflix show surprise a core of fans who are so intimately familiar with Julia Quinn’s source books that they’re anticipating every blush and ball before it even gets to the screen?
One solution, as has happened in season three, is to play with the established order of things. Though Benedict Bridgerton’s romance follows on from that of his brother Anthony’s in Quinn’s book series, the TV show has (rightly!) vaulted over that to first show the love story between Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington.
Their other answer? Invention. In addition to TV-only characters Madame Delacroix, Will and Alice Mondrich and Queen Charlotte herself, a new raft of invented-for-the-show characters appear in season three. Here they all are, along with info on the actors playing them, plus a couple...

The 2023-24 TV season was different and difficult as the industry dealt with simultaneous strikes by writers and actors, followed by discernable Hollywood contraction. But these cuts hit some bone.
Although every development season results in the death of several series, the decision to cancel shows like So Help Me Todd came across as particularly cruel to their ardent fans – especially when it involves wiping away much-needed Dei casts and shows that still have some legs to continue (does the beloved Blue Bloods really have to wrap after 14 episodes to make way for “new” shows on CBS when NCIS is about to start its 22nd season?).
And even though series like Bob ❤️ Abishola, Station 19 and The Good Doctor had time to plan for the end, it’s still a lot harder to say goodbye to old friends than to welcome (formulaic) new ones.

Now that Jonathan Majors appears in two Netflix movies, Da 5 Bloods and , which performance do you prefer? Let’s unpack how these two roles compare and contrast.
Majors plays David, the loyal and compassionate son of former Vietnam soldier Paul (Delroy Lindo), in Spike Lee’s Da 5 Bloods and a bitter, wronged son in The Harder They Fall. Up front, we should say that the two movies have one amazing connection: Majors co-stars with Lindo in both, and the two actors give great performances in both.
However, as Lindo’s son in Bloods, Majors plays a young man with a much milder temper. As a college professor sporting retro T-shirts and caps worn backward, he is at first fully uninterested in his father’s trip back to Vietnam to try to right a wrong and find a hidden fortune. Yet Majors follows him there, trying to reason with...

Cancelations suck, and the 2024 season has been particularly brutal.
Long-running favorites such as Station 19, Blue Bloods, and Young Sheldon are going off the air, leaving fans brokenhearted -- and actors out of a steady gig.
Sometimes, actors land a new gig right away, and other times, they struggle to find new work. The cancellations were recently announced, so not everyone has had the opportunity to move on to a new project yet, but there are some interesting things in the works.
Having a Long-Running Series is a Double-Edged Sword
When actors land a gig that lasts for half a decade or more, they're guaranteed work for as long as the series lasts.
That allows them to become household names but also can make it harder for them to get new jobs in the future. For example, Henry Winkler was so associated with The Fonz that when Happy Days ended,...

In Tom Selleck’s recently released memoir, You Never Know (via Business Insider), he reveals how he gave the crew of Magnum P.I. bonuses of $1000 after the studio refused.
Tom Selleck was in the process of renegotiating his contract with CBS for what would be the eighth and final season of Magnum P.I. The studio had decreased the budget of the series, but Selleck wanted them to agree to an eight-day schedule as well as a bonus for the crew if they were able to deliver under budget. “The studio said yes to the eight days. But they responded that they could not under any circumstances talk about crew bonuses, that it would set a dangerous precedent,” Selleck said. “They always invoked precedent when you had an original thought beyond their contractual boilerplate. Honestly, that pissed me off.“

It's always hard to say goodbye to shows that have been with us for over a decade. We literally become friends with the characters and love them as if they were family.
That's why it hit so hard when CBS announced that one of the longest-running police procedurals would be canceled after 14 years on the air.
Of course we are talking about Blue Bloods, a legendary show that premiered in 2010 and made the viewers fall in love with it. At the center of the story is the Reagan family with Tom Selleck’s Frank, the police commissioner of New York, being the head of it.
“My mother will probably sell the tv now. First Criminal Minds now this. The cancellation of an action packed formulated procedural dramas like this is a bridge too far. Not enough NCIS, FBI and Chicago to fill that void,” Redditor VeryLowIQIndividual said.

For the better part of the last decade and more, Blue Bloods has been enticing viewers with its engaging storyline and characters who come from a multi-generational family of cops. Focusing on the lives of the Reagan family, each character has their own unique strength and weakness to face as they battle the challenges associated with being a police officer, giving the drama an added edge over the plethora of other police-based TV shows.

Blue Bloods continues to be one of the most consistently popular shows on CBS, and network executives are clearly pleased with its continued high ratings. But despite the best efforts of the cast and crew, who for 13 full years on the air have become a family no less tight-knit than the Reagans themselves, to renew the show, Season 14 will definitely and irrevocably be the show's last.
Unfortunately, not only the efforts of the Blue Bloods team, but even the desperate pleas and demands of the fans are unlikely to turn things around. This sounds rather ridiculous in the context that after the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, the release schedule is supposed to be freer than ever.
But CBS has other plans. Without further ado, let's find out why nothing will help Blue Bloods, including an active fan campaign supported by the cast members.

Despite canceling Blue Bloods after 14 seasons, the cast has been lobbying for a last-minute reprieve on CBS.
Sadly, the network has confirmed that the series is no longer in contention for renewal and will end after 14 seasons in December.
While announcing the CBS fall schedule on Thursday, Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach shared that the show’s fate has been sealed.
“We really want to thank the cast and crew, everyone involved in the show,” Reisenbach told reporters, according to Deadline.
“We absolutely will miss the family dinners. It is important to give the show the sendoff it deserves.”
Despite reporters pointing out that the cast had been trying to get the show renewed for Blue Bloods Season 15, Reisenbach shut down any speculation of keeping the show alive.

There is a family that has been in the police force for three generations. The grandfather is a former commissioner, the father is the current one, the eldest son is already a detective, the only daughter in the family is the only exception and works as a lawyer. And the youngest son has just joined the police force after graduating from the academy.

After the sad news that Blue Bloods would be concluding after the current season, fans were devastated. However, now Donnie Wahlberg has revealed how he feels about the long-running TV series canceling.
Donnie Wahlberg And Bridget Moynahan Discuss Blue Bloods With Drew
Currently, Blue Bloods is in its 14th and final season. Sadly, it was on the chopping block by the network in November. On Tuesday, Donnie and co-star, Bridget Moynahan, were guests on The Drew Barrymore Show. During the episode, they discuss the concluding episodes of Blue Bloods. Undeniably, CBS fans first fell in love with the Reagans, a family of law enforcement officials in New York City, during their 2010 premiere. Within the series, Donnie plays Detective Danny Reagan. Furthermore, Bridget is his on-screen sister, Erin, a bureau chief in the District Attorney’s Office. Although the news of the cancelation was delivered months ago, the cast is still having a difficult time.

On April 11, CBS saved S.W.A.T. from cancellation, for the second time no less.
This reprieve came after three characters had already been written out this season. And additional exits may be coming, as it was hinted that Commander Hicks might be departing to take care of his ailing lover on S.W.A.T. Season 7 Episode 9.
So, who exactly will be in the 20 Squad returning for S.W.A.T. Season 8? Hondo, Powell, the new guy who replaced Street, and who else?
Ah, well, that's a problem for the series' showrunner and writers this summer. At least salaries for lesser-known actors should be less of a bite on the budget.
One side effect of this surprise rescue of S.W.A.T. is that Blue Bloods fans want their show, now in its 14th and supposedly final season, saved as well.
First off, let's remember it's a bad time to be a scripted network series. Just ask fans of Station 19, The Good Doctor,...

The upcoming finale of Blue Bloods divided fans into two groups: some are happy to see the show’s “suffering” end, and others are heartbleeding from watching their comfort series of many years go. Both points of view have their supporters, but the cast and crew of Blue Bloods are unanimous in their stance: they don’t want their iconic TV show to end, especially since they’ve all grown so close together.

Blue Bloods stars Donnie Wahlberg and Bridget Moynahan are saying a sad farewell to the CBS drama series. In an appearance Tuesday on The Drew Barrymore Show, Wahlberg and Moynahan shared a clip from the 14th and final season, which is currently airing, that features the Reagans at their weekly Sunday dinner.
Barrymore asked the two how they’re feeling as the end approaches. “I think everybody’s really upset and sad, but also happy and satiated?,” she questioned.
“More upset and sad,” Wahlberg said.
Responding to co-host Ross Mathews when asked what it feels like saying goodbye to the characters, Moynahan explained, “I think it’s more saying goodbye to the people behind the characters. On Paramount Plus, Blue Bloods recently received a note saying that the show leaves the streaming platform starting from May 2024. This may sound a bit confusing, especially since Paramount Plus is CBS’ very own streaming platform. Why would CBS shoot itself in the leg; where will Blue Bloods go; and how can you watch it after the show leaves Paramount Plus? Here’s what we know so far.
Blue Bloods Leaves Paramount Plus
First and foremost, not the entire TV show is leaving Paramount Plus. According to the note, only Seasons 1–11 will become unavailable on the platform in May; Seasons 12–14 are staying. But we know what you’re thinking: you can’t only binge the last three seasons, can you? That’s why you’ll need to find an alternative.

Will Blue Bloods be renewed for Season 15 after S.W.A.T. gets uncanceled? That’s a question on Blue Bloods’ minds after CBS uncanceled S.W.A.T. for the second time.
Last year, S.W.A.T. was canceled, leaving fans outraged the show wouldn’t get the proper ending.
Shemar Moore and a fan-led campaign earned S.W.A.T. a Season 7 to tie up loose ends as the final season.
As S.W.A.T. nears the end of Season 7, CBS has given it yet another renewal.
Blue Bloods fans are now calling for the network to do the same thing and give the cop drama a Season 15.
So, is there hope Blue Bloods will live on?

You didn't think Jamie would stay home, did you?
After his last dangerous assignment, he took a break to check out Henry's podcast opportunity, but he's back on the job on Blue Bloods Season 14 Episode 5.
This time, he's not undercover, but his mission may not be any less dangerous.
Blue Bloods has focused intensely on Jamie's missions during Season 14. For most of the season, he's been working undercover to bust a sex trafficking ring while Eddie and the rest of the family tried not to worry about him.
Now he's embarking on another mission that would make a perfect crossover with Law & Order: Organized Crime if only both shows were on the same network!
According to spoilers, Jamie will be working on busting a drug trafficking ring that involves rival gangs. It doesn't get much more dangerous than that!

The final season of Blue Bloods has been met with many interruptions, and tonight is no exception.
Blue Bloods fans waited over nine months to have Season 14 premiere.
However, the show is on its second hiatus, instead of having new weekly episodes.
The first one occurred on Friday, March 8, with only three new episodes having played out on CBS and a repeat aired that night.
That is not the case this time around.
Die-hard Blue Bloods fans won’t be surprised about the reason the show was preempted.
Why isn’t Blue Bloods on tonight?

Tom Selleck’s Blue Bloods is unarguably one of the best television series in the crime drama genre. Aired on CBS, the series tells the life story of the police commissioner of New York named Frank Reagan, who has more than just problems at work and home to deal with as one of his children heads to the police force while the other is intrigued by the lawyers.

Lenny Ross is no longer with us, but Frank won't have much time to grieve.
Spoilers for Blue Bloods Season 14 Episode 3 promise a tribute to Lenny and his late portrayer, but Frank will also have a dilemma to solve.
Lenny's wayward daughter, Tess, gets arrested again, and it's up to Frank to decide how to help her.
Lenny Ross popped up on Blue Bloods at least once a season, usually in over his head with some stupid scheme that Frank had to try to straighten out.
His last appearance, shortly before Treat Williams' death, suggested Lenny wasn't long for this world -- he was dying of cancer. This story might have happened even if the actor hadn't passed away, but the fact that Williams isn't still with us makes it doubly poignant.

Exclusive: UK Director Ben Gregor says his upcoming adaptation of Enid Blyton’s The Magic Faraway Tree will tap into children’s post-pandemic anxiety and retreat into screens as it celebrates the joy of being outdoors in nature, in a subtext that will chime with parents worldwide.
Wonka and Paddington 2 actor and writer Simon Farnaby’s screenplay transposes Blyton’s 1943 classic – about the adventures of three children who discover a magic tree in an enchanted wood – to modern Britain.
The new version will revive the tree’s ragbag collection of characters such as Moonface, Saucepan Man, Dame Washalot, Silky, Angry Pixie and Mister Watzisname as well as the lands at the top of the tree including the Land of Goodies and the Land of Birthdays.
For its contemporary reboot, the three protagonists are uprooted from their hi-tech home in an ultra-modern London Nine Elms-Battersea Power Station-style development to a ramshackle...

It feels like only yesterday that The Big Bang Theory wrapped up its impressive run.
In a few short months, the origins of Sheldon Cooper (Iain Armitage) will be over when we watch the series finale of the spinoff, Young Sheldon.
Thanks to our knowledge of the original series, what has to happen in the final season is inevitable, and now it’s official.
The hit comedy will kill off George Cooper Sr. (Lance Barber) before the show takes its curtain call.

Holland acknowledged that the prequel doesn’t have to be “beholden to every joke” from the original series, but the show is “beholden to the larger canon and the larger events that shape Sheldon’s life.”

Blue Bloods is closing in on its endgame, and thankfully, that means some returning stars are in the mix.
As previously reported, Blue Bloods will wrap with a two-part Season 14 on CBS.
News recently broke that Jennifer Esposito would be returning for an encore during the final season.
And now, we know when to expect her first episode back as Detective Jackie Curatola.
CBS revealed today that Blue Bloods Season 14 Episode 2, airing Friday, February 23, at 10/9c, is the big episode.
Yes, that means it’s airing very soon.
What brings Jennifer Esposito’s Jackie Curatola back to New York?
The network’s press release states that Danny (Donnie Wahlberg) and Baez (Marissa Ramirez) team up with Jackie when a serial killer reappears.
The wording makes it sound like this will find the team revisiting a case from the past, which would make sense, given Jackie’s return.

When it comes to CBS’ S.W.A.T. somehow staying liquid beyond this final season, “everybody holds out hope,” says showrunner Andrew Dettmann. But if this is in fact the cop show’s swan song, the EP is planning a “wonderful farewell” for Hondo & Co.
Ahead of S.W.A.T.‘s two-part Season 7 premiering (kicking off this Friday at 8/7c), Dettmann spoke with TVLine about the “final season” outlook, while also sharing some big news about Hondo and Nichelle….

When beloved actor Matthew Perry passed away last October, the tributes from fans and collaborators poured in. Most of us anticipated the thoughts from his Friends co-stars, who made joint statements prior to individual ones. Now, Tom Selleck, who played Monica Gellar’s one-time love interest Richard Burke on the sitcom, is recalling his time working alongside Perry.
Speaking with USA Today, Tom Selleck remembered one moment where his character swapped mannerisms with Matthew Perry’s Chandler Bing, but the Blue Bloods actor had difficulty nailing Chandler’s trademark sarcasm. “Matthew had this speech pattern that I hadn’t been aware of…Matt told me, ‘It’s a joke, Tom.’ It’s the way he says it. But during that whole show, I kept going up to him asking, ‘Can you say it again?’ and he’d do the line. That was his signature.” On Perry’s skills overall, Selleck concluded,...

“Fool Me Once” star Michelle Keegan is set to return for a second season of “Ten Pound Poms.”
Set in post-war Britain, the U.K.-Australian co-production follows a group of Brits as they leave behind their dreary lives to seek adventure down under. (In Australia “Pom” is a nickname for British people).
Keegan stars as nurse Kate Thorne in the show, which was created by “Fool Me Once” screenwriter Danny Brocklehurst.
Season 2 will pick up as Thorne tries to turn her Australian dream into reality as well as introducing some new characters who are sure to bring the drama, including the Skinner family, who have arrived from Ireland, and an unscrupulous landlord called Benny Bates.
Faye Marsay (“Black Mirror”) and Warren Brown (“Luther”) will also reprise their roles in the show alongside Rob Collins (“Mystery Road”) as Ron, Leon Ford (“Elvis) as Bill, Declan Coyle (“Long Black”) as Stevie,...

“Without football, what are we going to talk about?” asked the NFL Today’s Nate Burleson in the pro-football thick cold open to Saturday Night Live. “I mean, does anyone have anything remotely insightful to say?” the Devon Walker-portrayed satirical version of the former Detroit Lion added.
“I wished, instead of salt, the ocean was full of sugar,” responded James Brown (Kenan Thompson).
Yep. To answer that last question from Burleson/Walker in the specific: Nothing remotely insightful in tonight’s cold open for sure.
Lamenting the near end of the NFL season after this weekend, the cold open literally threw everyone and everything against the wall. In a land speed record even for SNL, they name-dropped Taylor Swift, the final season of “dentist office” fav Blue Bloods, the Pro Bowl, the Fast & Furious franchise, those troubled Boeing 737s, CBS viewership and the decline of linear TV, America’s cultural and political divides,...

ABC announced Thursday that the upcoming seventh season of The Good Doctor will be its last. The medical drama starring Freddie Highmore will be one of several popular, long-running scripted series that will be ending this year, along with ABC’s Station 19, CBS’ Young Sheldon, Blue Bloods and S.W.A.T. as well as the CBS/Paramount+ Seal Team. All but one, stalwart Blue Bloods, debuted during the 2017-2018 broadcast season and will end their runs after seven seasons.
Also introduced in 2017-18 were 9-1-1, which is moving from Fox to ABC for Season 7, and The Resident which wrapped its Fox run after 6 seasons. That gives the class of 2017-18 seven scripted series that ran for at least six seasons, with six of them making it to seven.
Given the contraction in the linear TV business due to declining viewership and increased financial pressure, that is a feat that will likely never be repeated.
