Avatar: The Last Airbender star Ian Ousley has recently revealed his desire to play Dcu’s Teen Titans role of Garfield Logan. The factory reset of DC Universe by James Gunn and Peter Safran has certainly opened doors for several actors to have their shot at DC Universe after the inception of Chapter 1, Gods and Monsters.

In the near future, Gunn might look to use the popular series, Teen Titan, with an entirely new cast. But ahead of that, Ousley revealed that he has been keen on playing Beast Boy— one of the primary characters of the superpowered teen band. However, fans are not quite so sure as they find another actor better suited for the role.

In an unprecedented move, Netflix has struck a multi-year creative partnership with Colombian writer/director team Camilo Prince and Pablo González, best known for their lauded 2020 thriller drama series “The Great Heist” and their 2019 anthology series, “Crime Diaries: Night Out,” both for Netflix.
This is the first creative pact Netflix has made with Colombian talent. Similar partnerships have been made with Venezuela’s Roberto Stopello and Leonardo Padrón as well as Mexico’s Manolo Caro, Carolina Rivera and Chilean writer José Ignacio “Chascas” Valenzuela, creator, showrunner of the hit Netflix series “Who Killed Sara?”
The new alliance coincides with the April 10 Netflix debut of the duo’s latest series, “The Hijacking of Flight 601” (“Secuestrar al Vuelo”), inspired by the longest skyjacking in Latin American history, which happened on May 30, 1973.

One Piece, the live-action adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s best-selling manga, just wrapped its second week at No. 1 in Netflix’s Top 10 with another dominating performance internationally. And, in what is becoming a right of passage for every series that hits it big with young adults these days (like Netflix’s Wednesday), One Piece sparked a TikTok craze with tributes to its demented villain Buggy.
In an interview with Deadline, One Piece executive producers, Tomorrow Studios’ Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements, spoke about how the tide turned on TikTok, with skeptical fans of the manga and anime series embracing the live-action adaptation of the story about a young man and his pirate crew’s search for the fabled “One Piece” treasure.

Netflix’s “One Piece” has a colorful, vibrant cast filled newcomers like Iñaki Godoy, who plays as Monkey D. Luffy, and some more seasoned actors like Vincent Regan, who plays Vice Admiral Garp. Netflix put in the work (seven years to be exact) to craft its live adaption of the bestselling manga series.
When “One Piece” creator Eiichiro Oda first saw Godoy, he knew that was his Luffy. Each of the cast members have created their own connection to their characters, and some loved and grew up watching them on screen as children.
Longtime anime fan Emily Rudd, who plays Nami, described her character as a member of the Staw Hats who sevves “like an older sister surrounded by a group of young brothers.” Mackenyu, who is Japanese, grew up idolizing his character Roronoa Zoro. Romance, suspense and drama dominate the 2023 slate of Telemundo Global Studios, which presented its 2023 lineup at Content Americas under the banner The Telemundo Edge. Speaking to Variety before hosting Telemundo’s presentation, Karen Barroeta, executive VP of production and development, noted: “We have evolved the genre so much that we now call them contemporary dramas, not telenovelas.” The long-form format runs an average of 80 episodes, stripped Monday to Friday, instead of the 120+ count of the traditional telenovelas.
Telemundo’s programming is also buoyed by its action-packed Super Series, the International Emmy-winning franchise “El Señor de los Cielos” (“Lord of the Skies”), which just launched Season 8 on Jan. 17 to stellar ratings. Inspired by real events, the show stars Rafael Amaya as the titular drug lord who undergoes plastic surgery in order to evade capture. “The show is always rooted in reality,” said Barroeta who added that writer/creator Luis Zelkowicz has some 800 hours under his belt.

Last October, the National Association of Television Program Executives – NATPE – filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, cancelling its January 2023 conference in the Bahamas.
Three conventions contend for NATPE’s crown: Content Americas, organized by C21 International; Discop Miami, announced in October by Basic Lead’s Patrick Zuchowicki, behind Discop Budapest; and January’s NATPE Global itself, bought this month by RealScreen owner Brunico Communications.
For January 2023 at least, only one event has made it across the starting line: Content Americas, which runs Jan. 24-26 at the Hilton Downtown Miami. Following, 10 takes on this year’s inaugural event.
Content Americas: A Pre-Market Take
Founded in 1963, NATPE was born and boomed as a U.S. TV syndication emporium. Moving to Miami in 2011, many of its overseas delegates instantly came from Latin America. Their presence came to dominate the event. Now the tail isn’t just wagging the dog. It’s nearly the whole beast.

Shot this Summer in Mexico, “Invitation to Murder,” adapting a Carmen Posadas novel and the first title in the crime thriller movie series, starred Peru’s Stephanie Cayo (“Club of Crows”), Spain’s Maribel Verdú (“Pan’s Labyrinth”), Colombia’s Manolo Cardona (“Who Killed Sara?”), and Mexico’s Regina Blandón (“Yo No Creo en Los Hombres”) and Aaron Díaz (“Toda la Sangre”) in a murder mystery reminiscent of “Knives Out,” Barmack said.
Marking out the most original facet of these new movies, “Murder,” “Susurro” and “Pequeñas Indiscreciones” – as the movie makeover is known – will, like “Invitation,” be made for global audiences by adapting high-profile Spanish literary IPs to Mexican settings.

Netflix is parting ways with two of its freshman dramas.
The streaming service canceled Partner Track and The Imperfects.
Partner Track launched on August 26 but failed to garner much traction.
The series followed Ingrid Yun (Arden Cho), a 1st generation Korean American and the first lawyer in her family, who experiences the trials and tribulations of excelling at the prestigious (but old school) law firm, Parsons Valentine.
Bradley Gibson (Power Book II: Ghost), Alexandra Turshen (Ray Donovan), Dominic Sherwood (Shadowhunters), and Rob Heaps (Good Girls) also starred.
The cast was rounded out by Nolan Gerard Funk (The Flight Attendant), Matthew Rauch (Banshee), and Roby Attal (The Haunting of Bly Manor).
Unfortunately, the series ended on a big cliffhanger, meaning it joins the ranks of Netflix's other one-and-done series that failed to get conclusions.
Also canceled is The Imperfects.

Tony nominee Sharon D Clarke, Thomas Flynn and Malcolm Atobrah are the latest to join the cast of Prime Video’s romantic comedy “Red, White & Royal Blue,” written and directed by Matthew López.
Based on Casey McQuiston’s best-selling novel, the movie centers on Alex Claremont-Diaz (Taylor Zakhar Perez), the Mexican American son of the U.S. president (Uma Thurman), and his royal counterpart Prince Henry (Nicholas Galitzine).
According to the official logline, the plot kicks off when the two feuding political progeny, and longtime rivals, get into an altercation, and the tabloids get hold of a photo of the incident, prompting their handlers to “devise a plan for damage control: staging a truce.” Their fake friendship soon evolves, growing into “something more meaningful than either Alex or Henry could have imagined,” the description explains. “Soon Alex finds himself hurtling into a secret romance with a surprisingly unstuffy Henry...

The fourth season of Netflix’s “Stranger Things” was the streamer’s most-watched English-language series during the week of May 23-May 29 with a record-breaking 286.79 million hours viewed globally. This marks the biggest premiere weekend ever for an English-language TV show on Netflix, even beating out previous record-holder “Bridgerton” Season 2 (193 million hours). That season went on to become Netflix’s most-watched English language series in its first 28 days of availability with more than 656 million hours viewed, putting “Stranger Things 4” on a potentially historic trajectory.
Netflix opted to split the fourth season of “Stranger Things” into two batched releases, with Volume II debuting July 1. Following the successful split release for the final season of “Ozark” earlier this year, this strategy has become a growing trend for Netflix as it looks to extend subscriber engagement and retention with its most high-profile originals.

“The Lincoln Lawyer” moved to No. 1 on Netflix’s list of top English-language titles for the week of May 16-22, its first full week after premiering May 13. Meanwhile, the first season of “Stranger Things” showed up in 10th place as viewers looked to catch up before “Stranger Things 4” debuts Friday.
Netflix’s “The Lincoln Lawyer” follows Mickey Haller (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo), an iconoclastic idealist who runs his law practice out of the back seat of his Lincoln as he takes on cases big and small across the expansive city of Los Angeles. The David E. Kelley-produced show is based on the series of bestselling novels by Michael Connelly, with the first season following the second book, “The Brass Verdict.”

Usually when French actor Jean Reno joins a production, he brings an added layer of sophistication and excitement. Sadly, this isn’t the case in the Season 3 premiere of Netflix’s Who Killed Sara?, as the Die Hart star manages to add more confusion and questions to the series than answers.
That’s saying a lot for a telenovela that ended its sophomore season with the show’s title and main conceit being tossed on its head by suggesting that Sara wasn’t dead at all. This is also after Marifer — more on her in a bit — confessed to killing Sara.

After almost three absurdly long years, “Stranger Things” Season 4 is just around the corner. A tentpole series for Netflix — at a whopping production cost of reportedly 30 million per episode — the fan-favorite sci-fi show that launched its young adult cast, led by Millie Bobby Brown and Finn Wolfhard, into superstardom will be dropping new episodes May 27.
And, according to the Emmy-winning series’ executive producer Shawn Levy, it’s going to be “harrowing,” “cinematic” and “epic.” He told TheWrap in a recent interview, “This is so much more story and runtime than ever before, not by a little. By a lot.”
The last month of spring will also see the return of reality series titles like “The Circle” — a social media-driven competition series where players catfish, befriend and flirt with each other with the aim of winning a grand cash prize — and “Bling Empire” — which centers on a group of uber-wealthy Asian American friends in Beverly Hills.

As the undisputed king of streaming (for now at least), Netflix has enjoyed the presence of some major blockbusters. Now, with its list of new releases for May 2022, Netflix is bringing back one of its biggest ever hits.
Stranger Things season 4 “volume one” is set to premiere on May 27. It’s been a long wait for new episodes of this ’80s-tinged sci-fi/horror series and based on the trailers, the wait will have been well worth it. "Russian Doll" season two takes a chaotic look at life beyond death. The first season of the introspective show, which made its Netflix debut in 2019, enveloped us in a world where Natasha Lyonne's character, Nadia Vulvokov, was perpetually forced to relive her 36th birthday, confronting her traumatic past along the way. Season two, which hit Netflix on April 20, picks up right where season one left off, giving us a glimpse at Nadia and Alan's (Charlie Barnett) lives after they broke the time loop.
"If season one is about the question, 'How do I stop dying?' season two is asking the question, 'How do I start living?'"
When asked what inspired season two after such a concise first season, Lyonne tells Popsugar, "I just think it was time for a deeper dive. I was curious about their root cause, in a way. If season one is about the question,...

It's official - "Who Killed Sara?" is returning for season three. If you stuck around past the credits of the season two finale, you would have noticed that the show sneakily announced the renewal at the end. In the trailer, which dropped on April 19, Alex discovers that his sister's body isn't where she was laid to rest. It's also revealed that Sara was the first patient of some experiment called Project Medusa. The clip ends with a dark-haired Sara finally coming face to face with Alex - so does this mean she was alive this whole time?
Since the last episode of season two ends on a major cliffhanger, the return of season three doesn't come as a complete shocker. While it initially seemed like we finally got to the bottom of who killed Sara after Marifer's confession that she cut the harness of Sara's parachute, the final scene threw us for another loop,...

Korean zombie thriller “All Of Us Are Dead” has become Netflix’s fifth most popular non-English-language series debut, Variety has learned exclusively.
On Tuesday, “All of Us Are Dead” debuted on Netflix’s all-time rankings, which tracks the streaming service’s Top 10 most popular non-English TV series based on hours viewed in their first 28 days on Netflix, in the fifth-place slot with 361 million hours. Its entrance bumps “The Queen of Flow,” which was previously at 10th, off the list.
At No. 1 on the list is still, of course, the Korean mega-hit “Squid Game,” which racked up 1.65 billion hours viewed in its first 28 days post-launch. Parts 4, 3 and 5 of “Money Heist” (“La casa de papel”) remain in slots 2, 3 and 4, respectively. With “All of Us Are Dead” now in fifth, “Café con aroma de mujer” shifted to No. 6, “Lupin” Part 1 went to No. 7, “Elite” Season 3 fell to No. 8, the first season of “Who Killed Sara?” went to No.

Netflix has been in the original programming business for a whole decade now, as Feb. 6, 2022 marks the 10th anniversary of the premiere of “Lilyhammer” on the streaming service. On Sunday, Netflix co-ceo Ted Sarandos released an essay commemorating the anniversary and reflecting on the company’s roots in content for international audiences.
“Looking back, ‘Lilyhammer’ was perhaps an unorthodox choice for our first show. But it worked because it was a deeply local story that we could share with the world,” Sarandos wrote. “The jokes and references worked locally and the more universal themes of the shows traveled perfectly. Since then, we’ve seen so many great local stories resonate with people in other countries and from other cultures: shows and films set anywhere and told in any language.”
Although Netflix’s premiere Hollywood shake-up came with “House of Cards,” which the streamer ordered as a series before picking up “Lilyhammer,...

Chilean star writer José Ignacio “Chascas” Valenzuela, creator, showrunner and executive producer of hit Netflix series “Who Killed Sara?” has formed a production company with L.A.-based Argentine producer Lucas Akoskin of Aliwen Entertainment.
The new bi-coastal production company, called Malule Entertainment, will be based out of Los Angeles and Miami, where Valenzuela resides. Both partners have lived in the U.S. for more than 20 years.
Hinting at the type of films and TV series they’ll be producing, Valenzuela said: “I’m most interested in exploring the chance to collaborate with first-rate screenwriters and, at the same time, give emerging Latin American writers the opportunity to write hybrid stories that mix genres and formats.”
“Who said that a thriller cannot be written as if it were a melodrama? Why can’t a romantic comedy have, in addition to a powerful love story, a layer of suspense?” he pointed out.

Speaking at the 5th Conecta Fiction, Ana Bond, Sony Pictures VP and executive director for Latin American and Hispanic markets confirmed that Sony’s Entertainment division had no plans to launch its own streamer.
During her online keynote on the first day of this year’s hybrid event, Bond added that the focus remained on partnerships and creating “the best possible content.”
“It was a strategic decision that the company made some years ago – Sony wanted to focus more on content and creators,” said Bond.
“It means you are free work with everyone in the market, which is what it means to be independent. We work in all markets with all existing platforms channels, Pay TV, streamers, Open TV – and we have no limitations except for the fact that we are looking for best possible content for the screen,” she added.
