Broken Trust

Phenomenal, not every great story needs cool cgi fights, this was an emotional and intense episode. Can't even believe it's from the CW, so glad Superman and Lois is back, I can't wait for next week's Episode.

Easily the best episode far
kerrodr19 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Let me start this off by saying I had some reservations going into this show as I grew up with Smallville and reading the comics and after watching Supergirl, I was not expecting much from the series. But wow, I'm so glad I was wrong.

I just can't believe this show has managed to go 6 for 6 and they absolutely knocked it out of the park with this episode. It had emotion, it had heart, it had great Lois scenes, Superman was fantastic and Tyler Hoechlin has just sealed it for me as the best live action Superman since Christopher Reeve. His scenes with his son, Jordan, were phenomenal, and Jon? Well he is just so humble and loveable. What a great kid. He's gunna pop like a wine bottle soon and I don't blame him lol

Spoilers: Had to drop a 1 from my overall score leaving a solid 9/10 because the CGI with Tag running at the beginning of the episode looked just a little jank imo but every other CGI scene was pretty fantastic. Especially the ending scene with Clark flying Jordan to the Fortress.

Superman and Lois comes back strong - Broken Trust has some of the best writing and drama the show has to offer
Holt34419 May 2021
Broken Trust is directed by Sudz Sutherland, he did a phenomenal job with this week's episode. Superman and Lois is back and the writers continue their excellent story. Superman and Lois continues to mix its family drama, well written storylines and mystery. The show came back strong after its 2 month absence, we are in for one hell of a ride. I hope Sudz Sutherland comes back to direct more episodes as his visual storytelling was some of the show's best, I looked through his filmography and he's known for his drama films and TV series, and he fits right in here.

Characters take time to develop and the story progress in a good way that isn't slow nor fast, it's the same pacing that the rest of the show have been and I'm all behind the character development as Jonathan and Jordan Kent needs all the screen time and character development they can get, and they get that. Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch who plays the title characters, with each episode that I watch, the more I love them and I like how they have grown into the roles. Their individual story arcs progresses too, in a nice way. The writing for Lois' character and her arc have become one of my favorites. The episode is also rich in its world building and character development. But the characters are at the front, everyone gives great performances. It's also nice to see more of Captain Luthor, his character is interesting and I understand why General Lane could see him as an ally in their first meeting, they sees things similar regarding Superman and superpowers.

From the first 20 minutes, Broken Trust feels like an ordinary Superman and Lois episode but the last half of the episode was superb which makes this get a 10/10 from me. It's all about trust regarding family and Superman, there's so many lines of dialogue that I found amazing that you can agree with. It's a phenomenal episode.

wow! what a Midseason premiere!
ldamena19 May 2021
The episode was perfect from start to finish! Kept me at the edge of my seat the whole way thru. Even screamed a few times XD that's how much emotion this episode made me feel. Tyler Hoechin is a great Clark/Superman for sure! I'm loving him so much. In fact, all the cast is perfect. Another thing I'm loving about S&L is that it's a Superman show done right. Yeah, it's got that family aspect done well but mixed with the morals, action, drama & love that make Superman:Superman. Right now this is the best Arrow Verse show on air bar none. Plus, I love how equal Lois is in this she shines in her own right as do Jon and Jordan. So glad it's back! Cuz I missed it alot.

Getting there
scarlettyforest2 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Some interesting developments this ep. Lois & Clark's relationship continues to be cute af, and moments between Jordan and Clark was long overdue. However,

The day the show stops sacrificing character for plot will be as equally glorious as it is unlikely. The writing and characters are fine from a certain point of view--that point of view being if these were original characters without 80+ years of history and legacy. But these are, and it's embarrassing that they create weird lapses in writing arguably some of the most easily recognisable characters in fiction, just for a plot™ moment.

Case in point: Lois Lane is convinced by Lex Luthor to break in somewhere using less than legal means of entry. They have to wear a disguise, and she complains.

-looks into camera-

Lois Lane's entire character is that she's a cutthroat, investigative journalist who is supposed to have built her career off of breaking into sites to gather the truth. Smallville got this, dceu got this, virtually every superman adaptation has gotten this. The fact that in this ep she's being coaxed into breaking in somewhere by Lex Luthor instead of just doing it herself, is laughable. But then, the swing back to Lois railing on Lex at the end is more indicative of her actual character, so it's like, you've almost got it! Just be consistent.

Side thoughts: this world without the presence of rest of the justice league just doesn't feel like true Superman or DC. I've lost track of which world this is set in because I've given up on most cw shows but hng. Titans does such a good of integrating all the dc characters, this should aim for the same vibe as that. As soon as they were like "this guy's speed rivals (Superman's)", it was glaringly like, "Okay, then where's the Flash?"

Power good representation of a kid with superman power
bacoddngentoddd22 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Really cool episode with truly neccessary drama. A Weird kid got Superman power? Of couse he's definitely getting some revenge to his bully. And Jonathan kent? He kinda reminded me of Dean Winchester from Supernatural, which is the best brother you could ever hope for. Although i found hardly believable that Sarah Lang just calm when she got kidnapped by his friend i still found this episode really good, a scene when Superman save a train and take bullets for the superpower kid is really hard. And the best one is when Jordan crying, of course a kid finally lose it and cry to his mom when everything he does just causing everyone to get hurt. I really love this show so far.

Broken Trust
Prismark1026 January 2022
Another episode where the interaction with the teenage kids works very well.

Jordan plays football against a team from Metropolis. The kids who relentlessly bullied him in the past.

Only Jordan still has issues controlling his powers and anger.

Both Clark Kent and Jonathan have to come to the rescue.

Jordan's difficulties are also mirrored by Tag Harris. He blames Jordan for his powers and both Superman and General Lane are looking for him.

Lois Lane continues her investigations against Morgan Edge. She only ends up with more questions when the alt universe Captain Luthor masquerading as a journalist manages to repel people with superpowers.

A good balance with the superhero story and teenage angst. I did think Lois hoping to get through Kyle Cushing with her concerns about Morgan Edge was over optimistic. Kyle is just following the investors.

Superman & Lois Returns As Strong As The Man Of Steel
THEARROWFLASH20 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Superman & Lois is FINALLY back after the better part of 2 months! And we all get to have a weekly dose of Superman & Lois yet again!

This episode, as usual, was absolutely spectacular. I cannot stop emphasizing just HOW MUCH the writes behind The ARROWVERSE truly GET Superman & Lois. And once again, Superman's interactions with Tag Hopper and how he chooses to handle it, and his GREAT speech to Jordan at the end of the episode, and last but definitely not the least, Superman in that moment of rage. Wow...just....wow. The masterful acting given by Tyler Hoechlin, the great writing and cinematography and direction of that brief, yet ABSOLUTELY perfect, scene, is just AMAZING! Shows us that Superman is a man, but he's also a Superman, in a few brief, perfect moments.

Other than that, I loved Lex's interactions with Lois. Seeing what looks like to be the villian of the 1st Season of Superman & Lois, just be explored so much, and spent so much time with is a surprise, but a welcome one. I'm so SO intrigued as to how Season 1 is going to wrap up, but I just KNOW it is going to be ABSOLUTELY PERFECT, AND I CAN'T WAIT FOR IT!

And yeah, that's about it, I'm just extremely happy to have Superman & Lois in my life again, every single week. And I can't wait for the next episode!

The Return of Superman & Lois!
wetmars25 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Oh yeah, I love it when Superman rescues a train. It never gets old at all. It's been so long since the last episode. Wow. Jordan's been seriously beaten up by Tag. The kid is developing super-strength and super-speed. "I hate the internet." I have to agree with Lois there, haha. Yet, Morgan Edge affecting the town of Smallville. Lois is still not giving up on him. Jordan is now having some problems whenever there is a slight sound. It causes his head to "burst" and causes a possible heat ray episode. Jonathan helps him in the bathroom to not let the heat ray out causing havoc inside the High School. Lois comes to visit Kyle about Morgan Edge and what he is currently doing but didn't work at all. Man's an asshole. I do love Lois and Lana's chemistry. It's beautiful. Back to the Kent Farm, Clark is training Jordan on how to control his powers. I was expecting a fun montage, shame. Tag is such a stalker staring at Sarah. (( The next time, please use your binds! )) Yet, we get another Football montage. Yay. Again, Jordan is having problems with his powers. Clark comes and helps him out to release his heat ray burst on the grass. (( Sorry if I'm bad at phrasing. )) Tag kidnaps Sarah to Metropolis, way too far. Marcus helps out Lois on Morgan Edge. The next thing happens, and HAHA! They're undercover working for Edge's construction site. The two finally find the X-Kryptonite. Oh damn, I didn't see that one coming. (( Leslie; who she's working for Edge now has a heat ray. )) Marcus uses his top-secret weapon on Leslie, nice shot! I like him more now even though he's supposed to be the main villain. The dude is on "both" sides. Tag convinces Sarah that Jordan was the main source of the Incident showing her the video that was taken. Clark is on a phone call with Lana about what's going on with Edge. Clark overhears that someone was outside their door, expecting Tag kidnapped Sarah. He flies to Metropolis to find Tag and Sarah. He eventually finds them, convincing Tara to get away from Sarah. The UD eventually raids armed with guns at Tag. They fire at them but, Superman gets in front of Tag. I was not expecting that the bullets were kryptonite, yikes. Pretty impressive how Superman dealt with the Kryptonite so easily. (( Grabbed the kryptonite bullets and toss them away. )) Superman returns Sarah to the town of Smallville. Sarah confronts Jordan about the Incident and asks him if he caused it. (( Even though. She doesn't know that Jordan has superpowers. )) Lois gets suspicious of Marcus. She's smart! Marcus is not what Lois seems, not a journalist but a guy that has the potential to be on the FBI's Most Wanted List, armed with high-tech. On to Jordan and Johanan, the Football team kindly forces them to hang out on the streets. Once they are on the street, a group of bullies shows up. Jordan gets tempted to use his super-strength on them meanwhile the bullies are mocking him. He lashes out a fist, Jonathan raises his hand in front of Jordan's fist. (( Again, sorry for the bad phrasing. )) Breaking Jonathan's hand, ouch.

When the boys return to the Kent Karm, Clark acknowledges that he overheard what was going on since he has super-hearing. Clark gives out a speech about not using his powers against whoever is bothering his friends. I like that moment. Stuff is getting more interesting between Lois and Edge. Jordan's heat ray problem gets eventually worse. Clark brings him to the Fortress of Solitude. Bam! Cliffhanger.

Thoughts? There is a lot of teenage angst, poor pacing throughout the beginning. Plus the lack of action. I do have a theory though. I think Jordan is developing super-hearing and doesn't know how to control it. It's just my theory though. But, could be something different. Who knows?

8/10.
