No writing or directing credit is appended to Penthouse's "Candy 69", an inept bit of porn parody that I deduce is the work of the untalented "Cash Markman" or as IMDb has rechristened him, Marc Cushman. One on- screen credit for Temple Jones, his amanuensis, is the hint.
Set in the year 1969, feature trots out endless clichés purporting to show the shallow look and behavior of that period's hippie culture, all done in the facetious manner that Markman has used in nearly a thousand other videos. The five sex vignettes are knitted together by recurring characters, notably one Mallory played by Nadia, who ends up having a pivotal part in the show's "shocking" finale.
Premise is that big-shot underground filmmaker Randy, with his trusty Super 8 camera always in hand, is planning one of his lengthy epics, and casting our various characters in it. Played blandly by NonSex actor Keith Crass with dyed blond hair, it's Andy Warhol, but without any substance or real comic flair. Those absences are trademarks of Markman's by-the-numbers and flat approach to screen comedy, which I found tiresome about 50 videos ago.
The attempt at period atmosphere is cheap and ineffective: Nick Manning bringing his shoulder length hair to the party; Kimberly Kane as a blonde (her early in career persona) screaming angrily into the microphone as an open mic poetess; and name-dropping like dragging Godard into the mess as a cliché of '60s avant garde.
The sex scenes are perfunctory, with some nonentity male talent on the payroll (Joe Rock, Dino Bravo, Seth Dickens). Some of the femmes are beautiful, e.g., Brooke Banner, but their talents are wasted.
