People in the entertainment industry seem to get into awkward and embarrassing situations all the time, especially after getting drunk at some major events and afterparties. And while we do know that the first name to have popped into your mind after reading this must have been Jennifer Lawrence’s, this one’s about someone else entirely: Robert Pattinson.

As it turns out, Pattinson once got drunk enough to get into a fight after midnight with none other than the iconic diva who made her way to becoming one of the top artists in the music industry from scratch, Adele. And, unsurprisingly enough, things didn’t really turn out all too well for the Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire star, as he later admitted just how much he regretted that encounter.

In the coming months, British actors’ union Equity and producer trade body Pact are expected to kick off negotiations to thrash out new contracts that will cover the vast majority of U.K. TV and indie film. There’s going to be several major sticking points on the table, many that are near-identical to those that dominated the lengthy and fraught talks between SAG-AFTRA and the AMPTP in the U.S. last year, not least secondary payments and the hot-button topic of AI.
But while these may be the headline grabbers up for discussion, a group of actors have been campaigning for another issue to be part of the negotiations: hair and makeup equality.
In her 2023 documentary “Untold Stories: Hair on Set,” British actress and filmmaker Fola Evans-Akingbola brought to light how Afro hair had been shockingly overlooked by the U.K. industry in terms of on-set provisions and knowledge.

These days, many fans know Mark Ruffalo for two major reasons. First is his portrayal of the mighty green Avenger, The Hulk, and second is hilariously giving away major plot points from whatever movie he stars in. However, his fanbase extends beyond the realm of gamma radiation and super strength.

The MCU itself is a global phenomenon, having raked in a staggering $30 billion at the global box office. However, Ruffalo, one of its most important cast members, does not believe that the MCU is his biggest claim to fame.

Tom Cruise and Robert Pattinson are two of the most iconic actors in Hollywood, with one climbing the ladder like there’s no tomorrow and the other ruling over it. While the two of them have never shared the big screen together, that doesn’t necessarily mean that they haven’t met either. Out of the many movies that both of them have individually done, it was a small skit that brought them together.
Robert Pattinson in The Batman (2022)
In a rather humorous sketch, Cruise managed to ground Pattinson in a way that forever became an embedded memory in the fans’ eyes. Both their skills are extraordinary on their own, so much so that some of the biggest blockbusters have their names on it.

With Dune: Part Two and Civil War in theaters, it’s already been a great year for sci-fi, and that doesn’t even count goofball flicks like Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, or any other movies with the word “empire” in the title. Sure, it’s not all perfect. Bong Joon-ho’s Mickey 17, starring Robert Pattinson, has been pulled from the release schedule and there’s no way that Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse will release this year. But overall, 2024 has been a strong start for sci-fi movies.

We’re leaving Las Vegas.
CinemaCon 2024 is over — time for studios to go out and prove their pitches at the box office. Based on what we saw, or really what we didn’t see, that will be an uphill battle.
First, let’s take a moment to appreciate the folks and films that showed up. Arguably, the biggest star to attend CinemaCon was Kevin Costner. The cynical point of view? He was pitching not one but two “Horizon” films to theater owners — and simultaneously pitching third and fourth installments to Warner Bros. Plus, Costner received a trophy (the CinemaCon Visionary Award), for which WB execs shooed him offstage just to call him back up. Kinda silly. Speaking of WB execs and no-shows, if David Zaslav was in town, he didn’t come on stage.
Jeff Goldblum did, as did his fellow “Wicked” co-stars Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, and Michelle Yeoh.

Robert Pattinson is one of the finest acting talents Hollywood has. From fantasy movies like Twilight and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire to sci-fi movies like Tenet, he has proved his range as an actor. With versatility as his middle name, the British actor has now taken up another challenging role.

Academy Award-winning filmmaker Bong Joon-ho chose Pattinson to play the lead role in his film titled Mickey 17. The film is being described as a sci-fi plot with a complex narrative. A filmmaker of Joon-ho’s stature could have picked any actor in the world for the role. But apparently, there was something that drew him into casting Pattinson.

Allow Robert Pattinson to introduce himself once again. He plays more than a dozen different versions of the same character, Mickey Barnes, in the upcoming science fiction thriller Mickey 17, helmed by the acclaimed South Korean filmmaker Bong Joon-ho.
Considering Pattinson’s acting credits from his earlier films, this portrayal appears to be difficult to pull off. As if we needed another reason to love Twilight fame, the skilled actor has once again proven himself to be a force to be reckoned with in the movie business.

Actor Robert Pattinson gained worldwide recognition for starring as Edward Cullen in The Twilight Saga film series from 2008 to 2012. He later went on to star in independent movies from auteur directors, including Cosmopolis, The Lost City of Z, Good Time, The Lighthouse, and more. Las Vegas – Warner Bros. made some very smart decisions for its 2024 CinemaCon presentation. First off, controversial Warner Bros Discovery chairman David Zaslav was nowhere to be found (let alone mentioned). This was about the movies first and nothing more. Second, they brought stars. Sure, Lady Gaga couldn’t make it (perhaps she had a migraine), but Robert Pattinson? Anya Taylor-Joy? Chris Hemsworth? Michael Keaton? Kevin Costner? That works.

Robert Pattinson is stepping out for his first official appearance as a new dad!
The 37-year-old actor looked adorable while posing with director Bong Joon-ho at the Warner Bros. presentation at 2024 CinemaCon on Tuesday (April 9) in Las Vegas.
Robert and Bong were there to present their upcoming movie Mickey 17.
Robert is playing an “expendable” — a disposable employee on a human expedition sent to colonize the ice world Nifheim — who refuses to let his replacement clone take his place.
Bong told the crowd at CinemaCon that 17 refers to the “number of times he dies.”

When your last film won Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best International Film, what in the heck could you possibly do for an encore? When you're Bong Joon-ho, a one-of-a-kind cinematic visionary who's yet to make a less-than-great movie, you go to Warner Bros and you go epic.
Bong's follow-up to his 2019 triumph "Parasite" is "Mickey 17," an adaptation of Edward Ashton's critically acclaimed science fiction novel about an expendable space explorer (Robert Pattinson) sent on a perilous mission to colonize the ice planet Niflheim. When the first Mickey dies, a human print is generated with most of the deceased's memories intact. In Ashton's book, the human printing process is set to continue indefinitely after the newest iteration of Mickey dies. But when one Mickey survives after being presumed dead, there are now two Mickeys on Niflheim – which would result in both being eliminated.

During the Warner Bros. panel at CinemaCon, Robert Pattinson and director Bong Joon-Ho shared a trailer and new details about their upcoming science-fiction drama Mickey 17.

Michael Keaton, Beetlejuice himself, showed up at Warner Bros’ CinemaCon presentation for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.
Keaton, who already has seen the movie twice, said: “Truthfully, I don’t think it’s a secret anymore, but [Tim Burton] and I over the years kicked the notion around. Three or five years passed, we’d say, ‘What do you think?’ Finally we got it right. But also the script — it’s very difficult thing to write. Frankly, I followed his lead. I’ll tell you this, though, it’s really f*cking good. In fact, it’s great.”
Burton on why he made the movie: “I started thinking about it in the sense [that] I identified with the Lydia character being the weird teenage character. [I thought,] ‘What happened with the Deetz family?’ It’s three generations of Deetz women. I used the experience of as you get older. I just got really interested in that.

The many facets of Robert Pattinson were on display in the first trailer for Mickey 17, the upcoming film from Bong Joon Ho that delves into human printing, identity and space colonization.
Bong made his first trip to CinemaCon to show off the trailer, with the director saying it’s the story of “a simple man who ultimately ends up saving the world.”
Mickey 17 is based on the novel Mickey 7 by Edward Ashton and follows Mickey 7, a space colonist known as an expendable — those who do the colony’s most dangerous work and often die in the process, only to be brought back to life through human printing technology. The protagonist in the novel is the seventh version of a man named Mickey Barnes, but in the movie, that’s been upped.
“The number is the number of times he dies. I killed him 10 times more,” Bong said to laughs from the crowd.

“It’s based on the novel Mickey 7, but we made it Mickey 17, Bong said. “The number is the number of times he dies. I kill him 10 times more. It’s a story of a simple man. It’s a sci-fi movie. It’s hard to say sci-fi — it’s a human story.”
The first look got rousing applause and was rather comical, set to the Dean Martin tune “Ain’t That a Kick in the Head?” Pattinson’s character is an expendable, and his job is to die several times through various experiments on a ship deep in space. We literally see him...

Exclusive: Following a competitive auction, Sony Pictures has landed the highly-coveted spec How To Save A Marriage from Ross Evans with Robert Pattinson on board to produce. Evans penned the script and Pattinson’s producing partner Brighton McCloskey via their Icki Eneo Arlo banner will join as producer along with Geoff Shaevitz and Evan Silverberg via Entertainment 360.
Plot details are being kept under wraps and studio sources add the project is still early development. Evans will also exec produce. Insiders say the deal was in the seven figure range with several other suitors in the mix.
While his deal is only to produce at this time (though sources close to the studio hope that it can be developed as a potential star vehicle down the road), insiders add what got Sony so interested in the package is how hands on he wanted to be as the project was being developed.

Hollywood has seen many changes throughout the various eras that it has gone through. From silent and black-and-white films, we have seen the evolution of film to color. The format of shooting films has also changed over the years, from proper film roll to digital filmmaking. The 2010s have seen the boom of streaming and the possibilities that it provides.
Movies like 2016’s Hush was removed from its streamer (Netflix) and is now not available anywhere
In recent months, there were reports of studio heads removing chunks of content from their streaming services to optimize taxes and restructure their brand. While this move has concerned filmmakers, industry insiders predict that a greater threat might be imminent for Hollywood.

South Korean cinema-goers will get a three-day jump on the rest of the world when the Bong Joon-ho-directed “Mickey 17” releases in January 2025 in time for the Lunar New Year holidays.
Warner Bros. Pictures says that the Robert Pattinson-starring sci-fi film will open in Korea on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2025, ahead of its global outing on Jan. 31.
The film was originally announced as opening in cinemas in March 2024, but Wbd recently pushed that back by nine months to allow the picture to be completed. Production had been affected by Hollywood’s writers’ and actors’ strikes in 2023.
“Mickey 17” is Bong’s first feature as director since “Parasite,” which became the first non-English language movie to win best picture at the Oscars. In addition to writing and directing, Bong also produces the upcoming film through his company Offscreen. Additional producers include Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner of Plan B and Dooho Choi of Kate Street Pictures.

As cameras roll on Hereditary director Ari Aster’s latest production, the full cast is announced. As ensembles go, the one for Eddington is something to behold.
Production on Ari Aster’s latest film is a go. Cameras have begun rolling on Eddington, the next project from the talented filmmaker who has bought us Hereditary, Midsommar and Beau Is Afraid. The film is being described as a ‘Western-noir dark ensemble comedy’ and as with all of his projects, is being backed by trendy production company A24.

As we wind down this year’s Oscar season, we at Gold Derby are already looking forward to next year’s. Clearly, we can’t get enough. But next year’s Academy Awards season could also concern this year’s as the Oscars afterglow effect could be in full force. Actors can often garner a quick follow-up nomination after breaking through in the nominations list the year prior. Eddie Redmayne accomplished this when he followed up his 2015 Best Actor win for “The Theory of Everything” with a 2016 Best Actor bid for “The Danish Girl.” Similarly, Octavia Spencer was nominated for Best Supporting Actress two years in a row — in 2017 for “Hidden Figures” and in 2018 for “The Shape of Water.” So, which of these year’s acting nominees could return next year? Let’s take a look.
Best Actor
Bradley Cooper has an exciting project that should be out in time for next year’s Oscars.

Unfortunately, Robert Pattinson’s Good Time co-star Buddy Duress passed away last year at the age of 38. After gaining worldwide recognition with his role as Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and Edward Cullen in The Twilight Saga, Pattinson switched to independent films which also gained him critical acclaim. One of these films was the Safdie Brothers’ Good Time.
Buddy Duress was a frequent collaborator of the Safdie Brothers and was best known for his roles in movies like 2017’s Good Time, Heaven Knows What, and Person to Person. He had gotten into quite some legal troubles before his unfortunate demise.

Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav is facing intense criticism yet again after the studio disclosed $115 million in abandoned film write-downs in an earnings report on Friday. The news renewed outrage over Zaslav’s strategy of canceling projects for tax benefits, with fans calling for his ousting. The write-offs likely include the scrapped $70 million film Coyote vs. Acme. Warner Bros. initially planned to release the animated Looney Tunes spinoff theatrically in 2023, before new animation leadership decided to shelve it.
Warner Bros. Faces Major Backlash Over $115 Million Tax Write-Downs

Director Dave Green blasted the “devastating” decision last November. After backlash, Warner Bros. allowed him to shop the finished film to other distributors, but its fate remains uncertain. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the $115 million write-down disclosure suggests Coyote vs. Acme is permanently canceled.
Many are expressing anger at Zaslav and Warner Bros. for repeatedly scrapping films solely for tax benefits.

It appears that Robert Pattinson’s much-awaited project, Mickey 17, has gotten the short end of the stick due to Warner Bros.’ massive gamble on Leonardo DiCaprio’s next flick. The Titanic star, 49, will be helmed by Paul Thomas Anderson in an untitled movie that is scheduled to start shooting in California this year. Even so, we can’t help but wonder if sidelining Pattinson’s flick was a wise choice in this regard.

Bong Joon-ho’s highly anticipated science fiction thriller, Mickey 17, starring Robert Pattinson has been in the news for quite a time. The Warner Bros. film, originally set to hit theaters on March 29, 2024, was pushed back to a new release date. The film written, directed, and produced by the Oscar-winning Parasite director was previously delayed indefinitely. It’s now set to hit theaters on January 31, 2025, per reports.

In January, Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group chiefs Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy jetted to London to connect with the new crown jewel of the studio, Tom Cruise. The three met to identify a film that would kick off their nonexclusive “strategic partnership.” Sources say a raft of possibilities were discussed, including an “Edge of Tomorrow” follow-up and Quentin Tarantino’s “The Movie Critic,” which currently isn’t set up with a distributor and has Warner Bros., like every major studio, salivating.
At 61, Cruise remains the king of studio tentpoles, a roost solidified by 2022’s “Top Gun: Maverick,” which took in $1.5 billion worldwide. Mickey 17, the upcoming project from Bong Joon-ho, has reportedly been moved to January of next year, marking a rather curious release date for such a high-profile project, especially considering it will be the long-awaited follow-up to the director’s Best Picture winner Parasite.
Originally, Mickey 17 was slated for a March 29th, 2024 release date but was moved back once it was announced last month that Warner Bros. – who is also distributing Mickey 17 – would be putting out Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire on that date. While a studio directly clashing with itself wouldn’t make sense, that Warner Bros. has moved the movie so far back definitely feels like cause for concern. Added to that, January is typically seen as a dumping ground for movies, a place to toss the leftovers that never had any awards potential to begin with.

“Mickey 17” is looking more like “Mickey 2025.”
South Korean director Bong Joon-ho’s hotly anticipated follow-up to his Best Picture-winning film “Parasite” was originally set for release in just about a month from now by Warner Bros. Discovery. In January, citing post-production delays and the lingering effect of the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes, the studio removed it from the calendar and slipped “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” in its place. Tuesday, it was announced that the Robert Pattinson-led picture won’t get released this year at all and, instead, will come next (eek!) January.
January is, uh, not when an auteur-led movie with a sterling cast like this is usually released, so the date does raise some eyebrows. Variety noted that the new date guarantees placement in IMAX houses, and coincides with Lunar New Year, which is a big movie-going day internationally.

Deadpool & Wolverine Theory ft Ryan Reynolds & Teyonah Paris (Picture Credit: IMDb)
Deadpool & Wolverine is one of the much-awaited movies of 2024. With the film, the mutants officially become a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The Shawn Levy directorial stars Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson/Deadpool, Hugh Jackman as James “Logan” Howlett/Wolverine, Morena Baccarin as Vanessa, Rob Delaney as Peter, Leslie Uggams as Blind AI, Karan Soni as Dopinder and Matthew Macfadyen as Paradox. Emma Corrin plays the villain in the film.
No one knows the exact plot of the movie Deadpool 3. However, the teaser-trailer hinted at the multiversal adventure. There’s a reason why Wade Wilson caught the Time Variance Authority’s (Tva) attention. After all, if you meddle with timelines, you have to pay the price and we’ve seen that in Tom Hiddleston’s Loki. While it would be interesting to see how Ryan...

We now have to wait until January next year to see Parasite director Bong Joon-ho’s highly-anticipated sci-fi project, Mickey 17.
When we learned in January that Warner Bros had removed Mickey 17 from its March release slot, there was plenty of speculation about when we’d actually get to see the film.
Talk mostly focused on possible reasons for the film’s delay: some speculated that it was to keep Mickey 17 clear of Dune: Part II, Warner Bros’ other huge upcoming sci-fi movie directed by an auteur filmmaker. If you recall, the studio pushed that project into March because of last year’s strikes.
There was also talk that (due to those very same strikes) post-production CGI work was taking longer than planned and given that the film is directed by awards darling Bong Joon-ho, the notion was floated that a May 2024 release would allow the film to...

Bong Joon Ho’s Mickey 17 has been set by Warner Bros Pictures for a January 31, 2025 North American release on Imax as well as regular format screens.
The new date pushes the much anticipated sci-fi film with Robert Pattinson back ten months from its previous launch date.
Opening dates for international markets are expected to be revealed soon, with many likely to be close to the domestic launch.
Mickey 17 had originally been set for a March 29 opening this year, but Warner Bros took the film out of that slot early last month. It is understood that the move was...

Warner Bros has dated Mickey 17 for Jan. 31, 2025 — a very odd date for a highly anticipated follow-up from Oscar and Cannes Palme d’Or winning Parasite filmmaker Bong Joon-ho.
What’s key about the date is that Warner Bros will have Imax, furthermore next January is starving for wide releases. But the reason why the studio went with this date is to play off Lunar New Year in South Korea.
The title is a major part of Warner Bros.’ CinemaCon presentation this year.
Originally, Mickey 17 was to go on March 29, shortly after Dune: Part Two this year but the strikes pushed the movie. We kept hearing it wasn’t ready. Still that didn’t stop everyone from panting that the sci-fi feature could hit Cannes. There were never any plans for the movie to go to Cannes.
While a Jan. 31 theatrical release indicates this movie likely won’t be...

In the wake of the Oscar-winning Parasite, Bong Joon-ho will return with the brand new sci-fi movie Mickey 17, which has been getting bumped all over the release calendar.
Recently moved to March 29, 2024, we’ve learned tonight that Mickey 17 has once again been bumped. This time all the way out of 2024. It now hits theaters on January 31, 2025.
Robert Pattinson stars alongside Toni Collette, Steven Yeun, Mark Ruffalo and Naomi Ackie in Mickey 17, a science fiction thriller based on a 2022 novel.
Here’s the plot synopsis for Edward Ashton’s book, via Amazon…
“The Martian meets Dark Matter in Edward Ashton’s high concept science fiction thriller, in which Mickey7, an “expendable,” refuses to let his replacement clone Mickey8 take his place.”
“Dying isn’t any fun…but at least it’s a living.
“Mickey7 is an Expendable: a disposable employee on a human expedition sent to colonize the ice world Niflheim.
