A light hearted Swedish comedy
lozjaxxx23 September 2018
This is a cute movie about an amateur theatre company and all the drama happening behind the scenes at the local playhouse. I found it an easy storyline to follow for a very limited Swedish speaker (I'm not sure where you could watch this with English subs unless you found the DVD in Europe).

Warning: Spoilers
found this DVD in the bargain bin at the local rental store.

there's a reason why it ended up in that pile.

it's not good.

the production itself is professional and all in all quite good.

but the script, the directing....

marketed as a comedy you'd expect certain ingredients - such as... funny moments.

is that too much to demand? I had to start fast forward after ten minutes - and even then the pacing didn't improve very much.

it's not a fiasco, but lacks any kind of fun

instead it's quite sad and depressing, reminding me of Swedish experimental films from the 70s.

Nice score.

Some good acting.

Nice lighting and art direction.

But please - entertain me just one moment if you're saying you're selling a comedy!

Why these lame reviews?

Director Johan Kling had a tremendous success with "Darling" three years ago. Personally, I didn't quite understand all that fuzz, but I would have more understanding, if it was about the follow-up "Puss" ("Kiss" in Swedish).

It's about this young theatre group and if you've been in such an environment, you'll recognize all the types immediately. The producer on breakdown edge, the secret lesbian, the girl who never smiles, the "ugly" girl thirsting for love, the don juan, the technician who looks like a murderer. It is all very funny and these people are very lovable.

But the script is also elegant and all pieces fall together in the end. Can't think of any detail which is forgotten and which doesn't finally find its meaning.

Quite clever.
